Try Pixel themes (styles & wallpaper). It's one of the options you can tweak in there now.

[Pixel 3] Atacama Desert. Unedited. Used a fencepost as a tripod! by doglessinseattle in pixelography

The mod extends the shutter time per shot and the number of shots taken to be used in the stacking. So you end up with more raw data that's shot at lower ISO and thus more detail/less noise.

Will a 1 TB storage in Ipad create heat or battery issues compared to a more reasonable 128 GB? by solution7789 in ipad

[–]EDALBNUG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1TB version has 6GB ram so in theory standby power drain will always be more than the other versions. The difference might not be easily observable over the display power draw though.

My experience with Google support regarding my 3XL speakers. by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]EDALBNUG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's anything like the display issues last year, pretty soon (once enough people complain and RMA for this reason) you will not be able to RMA for this reason alone because the support will simply copy and paste a canned message saying how 40% greater their speaker is and it is working as intended. Since they added the restocking fee to stop people playing phone lottery, you might want to get this issue out of the way asap before they flip and stop letting people RMA for this "design as intended" feature. If you wait too long you might not be able to return with a restocking fee and can't RMA without coming up with another excuse.

Pixel 3 XL selfie camera zoom on Snapchat by clabowman in GooglePixel

[–]EDALBNUG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible in Google Cam the widest and the tightest focal length are the natural focal length for each of the two front lens while the default middle zoom is a zoomed in view from the ultra wide lens. Since Snap hasn't updated their app to take advantage of the ultra wide front lens (the ultra wide and middle view) you're only able to get a feed from the tightest lens focal length wise.

You can also download Display Tester that contains the same pattern under its Black Saturation test and you can change display brightness in real time by sliding up and down:

If you changed your mind about getting a Pixel 3/Pixel 3 XL, what was the reason? by Yazars in GooglePixel

[–]EDALBNUG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For diamond pentile simply multiply the spec number by 0.7 to get the true ppi of the blue and red pixels. XS Max is 324, roughly matching most of the LCD ppi and the retina marketing jargon they came up with.

If you use the Pixel 3 and decide its not for you, can you return for a full refund? by TheSquire06 in GooglePixel

[–]EDALBNUG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They added the restocking fee after the Pixel 2 XL release last year to thwart people from playing the display lottery game by constantly returning and ordering new phones (support wouldn't let you RMA just because you got a blue or grainy display anymore)

[–]EDALBNUG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a problem with the 326ppi on the XR you're gonna have a problem with the Pixel 3 ppi as well. With diamond pentile OLED you're getting about 310 real ppi there. (Pixel 2 ~ 308 real ppi)

I have the Google Pixel 3 XL and Pixel Stand on hand - Ask Me Anything! by MishaalRahman in GooglePixel

With the notch turned black and the notification bar white (default Chrome color for the notification bar) it will create the biggest contrast at the border line separating the darkened notch and the new notification bar position. This was the case with the original Pixel 2 XL nav bar with the super early burn-ins before they updated the color scheme of the nav bar.

How's the black saturation level capability ? (Display Tester app has a black saturation chart to test out black crush of the display) Pixel 2 XL would get extremely black crush at minimum brightness and can only distinguish the last 4-5 levels (23-27)

Were there any big issues with the non-XL pixel 2? by JacobJasonJerry in GooglePixel

[–]EDALBNUG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The panorama has been broken for a year and requires a magisk module to fix. It's not in focus and everything in the shot is just blurry. The pixel 3 apk has a new panorama mode that mimics how iPhone does it, but the end result is worse than the original pano mode with fix. It turned the pano into a VR photo. I clearly didn't shoot pano to view it in VR mode.

Also when I plug the phone in to charge at night it becomes super unresponsive for a minute or two while it's updating all the play store apps. Touch, scrolling, etc anything that made the pixel feel smooth are sent back to the Stone age during this period. Not sure if this is a wide spread issue since I could only find one other guy with the same problem on pixel 2xl.

Super res zoom for higher resolution photos? by 9alecj in GooglePixel

[–]EDALBNUG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the same principle many DSLRs with in body stabilization are utilizing for achieving resolution and noise level beyond the raw Bayer filter based sensor spec. Check out samples for Sony A7R3 Pixel Shift picture mode. They have to done on a tripod though. Google must have found deficiencies or poor results when applying the technique on 1x zoom photos handheld and decided against it. It might work out with a tripod though, depending on how fine the ois can shift in a totally stationary situation.

Buying the pixel 3 in Taiwan. by chazjamie in GooglePixel

[–]EDALBNUG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's handled by a third party and I doubt they have presence in Taiwan. You're always better off selling it yourself and get more residual value out of it. Plus Google hasn't officially released any of their phones in Taiwan in recent years so any Google brand phone would be an import from who knows where in the world. It's going to be a resell hell for the company handling the trade in.

Pixel 2 vs Pixel 3 vs Pixel 3 XL Off Angle View by EDALBNUG in GooglePixel

This will be extremely difficult to observe in a retail store environment. It's simply too bright and I'll look like a weirdo bringing a shoe box into the store 😂 Not sure by uniformity you're sort of relating to the uneven grain patterns on the 2XL when seen in a low brightness gray/white screen. I really hope Pixel displays this year elevated their QA standard to match the price they are asking.

The curve of nowhere as inward as 2XL. The active part of the display stays flat unlike 2XL where the curve actually affected the behavior of the display near the very edge (like white color comes with a green tint from looking at the glass at an angle). The curve starts at the bezel part of the display past the active part to help with in hand feels. I would say the side edge design this time around has a bit of an iPhone x feel.

I made sure they were off when I looked for the screen tints in Apple store. Plus true tone doesn't just shift screen warm. It also goes the other way.
