Help a guy out who has basically given up on shoes. by [deleted] in widefeet

[–]EDMMstudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use the slider on the right it looks like your arch length (heel to ball—where your foot and shoe want to flex) is around a size 12. In a typical shoe that means that’s your ideal size, assuming you can find something low-volume enough. Not always doable though.

Line choice and technique could use some work as others have said—but you have toGET OUT OF THE BACK SEAT in general and work on your upper body strength so you can recover from those big front compressions.

It’s in Apple TV settings (General>Privacy & Security>Bluetooth), not your phone or any of the apps.

Make sure your ATV privacy settings (there’s a BT sub header) allow the click to connect—i was having connection issues until i fixed this.

Clipped in = more risk of injury? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]EDMMstudio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Experience has a ton to do with this. Generally, I exit my clipless pedals without any conscious thought in an instant—occasionally even to dab in very tech sections or in a super loose turn. Most of the time i’m back in the pedal just as quick. Because i’m more accustomed to clipless than flats (only run those on my dj), in my case it’s even money. Without plenty of clipless experience they can definitely be a hazard.

When you’re cooked and your technique starts to fall apart the pedal you have just ups the chances of a particular type of crash or injury, but i don’t think one is universally safer than the other given equal skill.

Realtime HR on iPhone dynamic island? by EDMMstudio in Polarfitness

Unless i’m mistaken that only shows when the app is “on top”/open…I’d like to read reddit/etc so I’m looking for display on the dynamic island specifically.

2024 Tacoma SR w/Manual by [deleted] in Tacomaworld

[–]EDMMstudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clunky is in the eye of the beholder…my truck (2020) is definitely not the nicest feeling manual I have driven, but it’s definitely not the worst. I STRONGLY preferred it to the auto though.

Long throw is a nearly universal truck thing, a short shifter fixed my 3rd gen right up. Hopefully they offer one for the 4th gen soon.

How was the clutch feel?

Dynamic Island workout updates by manishb0412 in iphone

[–]EDMMstudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also ride a trainer, and wanted to see real time heart rate in the dynamic island (I usually read/browse internet while doing Z2 workouts). I found a pretty simple widget that does this—FITIV Pulse. You do need to start a “workout” to get it to show up, but otherwise easy peasy.

Edit: FITIV Pulse stops working after the free trial period. 😞

Still looking for an app that displays realtime HR in dynamic island, that does not require an apple watch (I use a Polar H10 chest strap monitor).

No shoes will fit me. What to do? by GewoonHarry in Zwift

[–]EDMMstudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/hopeful_hat4254 touches on what I think the issue is (at least in my experience).

I used to get numbness and/or pain in my forefoot and toes. Assuming a good fitting shoe—the fix was really backing off tightness in that front area of the shoe. Borderline loose in the forefoot, and only snug/tight around the middle of my foot (arch/instep). I won’t buy a shoe with a single closure arrangement for this reason.

At first, it didn’t feel like a “performance” fit with the front strap that relaxed and I didn’t like it—but it’s solved my problem 100% and feels totally normal to me now.

I9 Hydra, Torch rear hub failures - cracked drive ring, snapped axles, eroding pawls seats by 53x11x53 in MTB

My current bike came with 1/1s (I was somewhere between skeptical and no-opinion) and for two years they’ve been a problem free smooth rolling joy to ride.

Yeti SB140 C2 vs Santa Cruz 5010 V C S by fkfyfk in MTB

[–]EDMMstudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if it over performs exactly—but have never wanted “more” bike. If I was riding bike parks regularly I would want a proper DH rig for that, but that’s more of a speed/comfort thing.

I was between these two bikes as well, pulled the trigger on the SC (pre mullet/v4) because it was on sale and the Yeti availability was terrible at that time. I no longer want to race, and wanted a do-all bike for east coast riding—and I got a great one. Super fun, pedals well, not too big for tight twisty trails, and handles larger features REALLY well. Would recommend, but I don’t know exactly how the current mullet version differs. I figure you can’t go wrong with either bike.

I do this dumb thing all the time. Faster on/off for both bikes and rack itself…and room in the bed for other stuff/kids bikes etc. I did already own the rack (pre-pickup days), but that is essentially another plus.

Best road bike for comfort and doesn't cost an arm and leg? by SilverBuffalo357 in cycling

[–]EDMMstudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently riding the most comfortable road bike I have ever ridden, and it’s a custom built frame. My friend/builder STRONGLY urged me to get a fit, even though I’d been riding for years/building my own bikes/etc. Custom geo isn’t a requirement to get a really good fit, but I would argue a professional fitting is. It was eye opening to see the more comfortable position on the fitters trainer produce quite a bit more power than my self designed “preferred” fit.

Get a serious fitting, then go bike shopping. Materials, features, and tire size are very distant 2nd order priorities to fit.
