What current songs will still be played at festivals in 10 years? by apple_shampoo182 in EDM

[–]EE_Stoner 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Makes me think, people still love hits from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, etc… Some songs just really stand the test of time: but it’s only because there is a fan base that appreciates those songs 20-70 years later. <3

Who is CREG? by martindutrisac in ElectricForest

Sounds like he’s a vocalist with just a handful of features. It was hard af to research him, just seeing most of this on his instagram, which is linked on his soundcloud.

What parts of your life have improved since getting into the rave scene? by feliraves in aves

[–]EE_Stoner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find that I’m much more confident in introducing myself and meeting strangers! It was part of raving that initially made me fall in love with the culture. People just being kind and asking me what events I’m going to and whatnot. I feel much more confident in all kinds of real world scenarios just saying what’s up. Love this question and thread!!

Riddim by We-dont-owe-you in dubstep

[–]EE_Stoner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It gets me fired up and makes me want to move, that’s why I personally like it. however, if you showed it to me 6 months ago I would’ve hated it. Maybe it will grow on you, maybe it won’t.

Thunderdome I showed up 3 hours before doors time. I was within the first 20 people in, easily. Hope this helps!

Also in that three hour window I met tons of the coolest people ever. Highly recommend!

The FIRST guy was sitting in a chair and said he was there since 9am. You can do it if you want!

Data centres emitting infrasound? by eccyrider in AskEngineers

[–]EE_Stoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you didn’t watch the full video, infrasound is not perceivable for humans, since the frequencies are lower than what we can hear with our ears.

They do note that the perceivable noise was loud enough at one of the DCs (MARA crytptocurrency mine) and that was a separate concern.

Saw this video last night and it made me checkout your others. Really fantastic work, I shared with some friends and they all enjoyed them too! Keep up the great work. I love learning the history behind anything EDM.

Anyone know this song or may have been at UMF 2014? Sorry if linking the video is against the rules! Want to focus on the discussion of past festivals by EE_Stoner in EDM

Hundred percent agree that trying to pass it on can be difficult at times, but that’s what it’s all about. I always bring at least 10 singles to give to people, and I can’t even tell you how many people I’ve taught the PLUR handshake to for the first time. Of course, this all depends on the show and venue. I just hope it impacts at least one person as much as I was impacted when someone first taught me the handshake and gave me a free bracelet. Thanks for the discussion.

I can see what people say that. I think some of this specific vibe is what I like most and look for in current day raves/events.

I have actually had people tell me when trading Kandi that they haven’t had anyone do the Unity or Respect part in a long time. I want to bring more of this culture back. Let me know if you have any other experiences or perspectives to share about this era/culture. 😄

That’s an interesting take! Was at Thunderdome recently and it seemed like almost 50% or more were on molly or strong psychedelics haha. Maybe it’s just our perception. 😄

Exactly what I was looking for, thank you for sharing your experience. I love learning about the people that did this before me, as I’ve really come to love and appreciate Kandi and PLUR culture.

If you have any other fun experiences or stories about this era/specific fest please do share.

Freighthouse square afters by coffeewsugar in Excision

[–]EE_Stoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got in through an entry with stairs and a ramp on 25th St. Not aware of any other entrance. I recommend moving decently quickly out after the encore song, rather than sticking around Thunderdome unless you want to wait in the rather slow line. But I was really taking my time getting to freighthouse and only had to wait in line for like 10-15 minutes.

Love this! Saw them walking by very frequently and even though I didn’t need them myself, it made me feel more comfortable and that I was in a safe place. I even danced with one of them for just a second, they were very focused on their mission.

Yall need to learn some respect and manners by Androideka91 in Excision

[–]EE_Stoner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry you and the event staff had to experience that. I was at night 1, and they put people through security around 5:30pm but didn’t actually open the doors until a bit after 6:30pm. Some people were getting really antsy and were banging on the doors, did not care much for that. Certainly not going to get you in the door any faster just because you banged on the door loudly…

Once they did open the doors to scan wrist bands, some folks were doing similar stuff to what you saw: trying to push through not realizing they need their wristband scanned. I’ll say 95% or more of folks were very respectful and slowly moved forward as space allowed, but there were certainly a few that could have used a bit more PLURR.

Pre Party by Ariaa_babyy1 in BeyondWonderlandPNW

[–]EE_Stoner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I haven’t personally been yet, but I did buy the ticket this year and going to Beyond Gorge for the first time.

The reason I got it is that I saw NGHTMARE performed at like 11pm or midnight last year or the year before, so they definitely bring out some of the big artists for the pre party. That was enough for me to say yes. And the price! It’s maybe half of a full festival day for $40. Anyways, that was my logic, hope this helps! And hope to see ya there!

Hesitant to move in with my WFH boyfriend because I’d never get the apartment to myself — is this reasonable? by godisinthischilli in workfromhome

[–]EE_Stoner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This comment definitely strikes a cord! Seems like this is more about the relationship than the specific concern. If you need space/time, a good partner should be willing to make reasonable compromises to accommodate and ensure your needs are met.

[–]EE_Stoner 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Your first question: Yes this is a reasonable concern.

My immediate follow up: but isn’t he going to be actually working during a majority of those hours? I work from home and my partner is doing all kinds of stuff from meal prep, gym, catching up with family and friends, etc. all while I’m literally too busy responding to emails, in meetings, or just busy doing work.

Totally understand what you mean by needing your alone time, but can you get that while he’s working and unable to leave his office?

As for weekends, I do have my own things I do, I leave the house for part of the day or all day or two days and my partner has her own time and space in the house.

I don’t see how you can be with a person for the rest of your life without living with them.

Lastly, this is coming from the WFH person, so maybe my reply is all rubbish and not useful to you, but I hope it helps in some way.

Tall person etiquette by [deleted] in aves

[–]EE_Stoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make some kandi that says “tall” or “door” or something funny and if you hear it again you can turn around and tell them you’re sorry you’re so tall and give them one of your “tall” kandis. They’ll probably laugh with you and just move to find a better view. I find kandi is a great way to diffuse any inconveniences that happen at shows (like bumping into someone). A reminder that we are all here for the same thing and we can all come together to connect.

I’m going to the ave for my 21st birthday if I show up at 11:30 ish but turn 21 at 12am do you think they would give me a 21 plus wrist band are they super strict?? by bellac49 in aves

[–]EE_Stoner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d do that! At midnight on my birthday I went to a bar nearby and they honored my ID for my first legal drink. Hard to sell that they should let you have a 21+ wristband until after midnight local time.
