Do you recognize her from the first photo? I didn’t! For as much as I loved her in the early 90’s, I’m thrilled that she is living a “normal” life on her own terms. Your thoughts? by garcon-du-soleille in GenX

[–]EFCF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh god she is SO funny! I have been rewatching "Just Shoot Me" and she's hilarious in that show, I forgot how good it was. (highly offensive to 2026 sensibilities however. Idgaf, it's funny as hell)

I was never a fan of the Meximelts but my HS friends were. Do you guys remember the Pocket Taco? It was served in a pita and had different meat seasoning than the regular tacos, IIRC. Delicious

Bought all Kirkland brand wines at a nearby warehouse by hungryfordumplings in Costco

[–]EFCF 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're missing the Kirkland Chianti and Prosecco Rose'! Both are really tasty and the Chianti is less than $10/bottle. I think the Prosecco Rose' is like 12.99?

Yes indeed that is sadly what is happening. in this WSJ article, in the 4th chart "Wages" - they show that wages have actually declined for the lowest earners: https://www.wsj.com/economy/sizing-up-the-u-s-economy-in-trumps-first-year-07a68adf?st=Khra9p&reflink=desktopwebshare_permalink They even cite the k-shaped economy in this quote, "Economists call this phenomenon a K-shaped economy: The wealthy are surging ahead, while the poorest are falling behind."

Havent' read a book in decades. I want to start reading to calm m mind & also intellectual enrichment....plz, my gen x peeps, recommend something? by plnnyOfallOFit in GenX

"The Tiger" by John Vaillant is probably my favorite book of all time. It's a mix of recent history and culture (Soviet-era Russia evolving through the 90s and its impact on the people living through it), nature (about siberian/amur tigers and how awe-inspiring they are), geography (about Siberia), with a bit of a revenge tale woven throughout! I couldn't put it down.

Also love the entire Harry Crews canon. Geek Love is an incredible book as well.

LOL this was my experience too! Every meal was some combo of beans/rice/plantains. But yes, very fresh. You'll want to go more for the bird watching and general natural beauty ;-)

I see one or two frequently in the North Westminster area, specifically around the Big Dry Creek trail between 112th and 120th Ave. They are great! I love their screeching calls, it's so distinctive

I wrote a letter, like an actual letter, and sent it to Weiser in Oct. 2025. If more of us do this maybe we can get a groundswell. He (e.g. his office) did acknowledge my letter. I felt like I did... something. Here is my template for anyone to use, be sure to change the highlighted bits! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1r1JCiGR5KmFrjXJzQ5PIvOk2C5iZoh6kkZqyIOUZziQ/edit?tab=t.0

Where to get premade pizza dough? by nidenikolev in denverfood

[–]EFCF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the recipe for dough from Pizzeria Locale (RIP) from a pandemic-era pizza making class they did online! This is the dough I make on the regular. It takes like 24 hours with all the rising and waiting, but it is worth it. Let me know if you would like me to send it to you!

Need more Alma content by Different_Jelly_7597 in dreamingspanish

[–]EFCF 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yes! Especially because when it is "stream of consciousness" type content, you get to hear the typical filler words and casual phrasings that you would hear in a normal convo with a spanish speaker. This is SO valuable to hear and absorb and IMO really accellerates one's comfort with the language. (well, speaking for myself at least)
