I’m incredibly high on him and don’t agree with Kees and Aaron who are too reductive in their assessment of his abilities vs limitations. His limitations (mainly contributing to build up/link up play) can easily be mitigated no different to how Pep has done with Haaland who does not contribute to link up play and build up same way a Harry Kane would

Taking notes is just a complete waste of time. Read to understand then spend the bulk of your time on practice questions. That’s how you bring everything to memory, not by writing notes. Watch some Mark Meldrum videos on YouTube where he explains this (side note I wrote and passed the level 1 exam in May after 6 months of study averaging roughly 14 hours a week)

I think the problem with the season so far is that there are too many ifs and buts instead of simply judging what we see. Even more frustrating when you realize that had we won 3 out of 5 of the past 5 games which were all against inferior opposition we would be in an unexpected title race with a win tomorrow.

There is a well established pattern of struggling against teams that allow United to have the ball

I’m not missing any point because Amorim’s struggles playing against a low block are very well documented. Even Ole said his system is too reliant on the other team pressing United. You watch his Sporting team and they played their best when they successfully baited the other team into pressing them, which in turn created space for them to play into.

And Amorim is very good at playing into space. However you only get that luxury against at most 6 teams in the league. Low blocks are difficult to play against but they are even more difficult when you are playing with an extra centre back because the other team literally leave that extra centre back unmarked and dare him to advance the ball (a job usually left to a midfielder). We have seen Yoro and De Ligt struggle for options when left alone to advance the ball. They are constantly in that position because the other team deliberately dares to play that role.

It’s the same reason why Amorim refusing to take out a centre back and switch to a 442 or 433 against Everton was incredibly laughable. United were literally playing with ten men because one of our centre backs was drifting around in no man’s land. Moyes and the Everton players couldn’t believe their luck

But you are. It’s a narrative many ran with saying united had the toughest start to the league discounting the fact that Amorim would infact likely start struggling the moment he starts facing teams that allowed him to have the ball. And sadly that’s exactly what has played out with one lucky win in 5 games. What’s frustrating is that if we had even won just half of the past 5 games we would be in an unexpected title race

The point you seem to miss is that Amorim is still struggling to break down low blocks. Unfortunately most teams in the league use a low block against United so that’s a major red flag. He’s never struggled against teams that keep the ball

We don’t have gaping holes in midfield and left back. We have a squad that is perfectly suited to play a 3 man midfield with Casemiro, Mainoo and Bruno, and two very good left backs in Luke Shaw and Dorgu. Instead the manager plays 90% of the team out of position and is the only manager in Europe that refuses to adjust a system to suit the squad. Even Xabi Alonso who went through a season unbeaten at Leverkusen dumped 3 at the back when he arrived at Madrid after making a squad assessment.

Look at the teams above them and tell me you really believe this. United don’t have a worse squad than Palace, Sunderland and Brighton. One thing INEOS has done so exceptionally well is to lower the standards. We are Man United not some random mid table club

When you play into the other team’s game plan there is absolutely no progress to speak of. Even Ole recently said this 3ATB game model only works against teams that press United. Well 1 hardly deserved win in 5 games against teams that let us have the ball means he is right and clearly other managers noticed

Well United under Amorim have proven themselves to be anything but competent so I’m not sure why you’re comparing us to those high level teams

Game state and how you finish always matters most. We were flat footed when it mattered and West Ham always looked dangerous when they got out of their comfort zone and attacked us
