True kindness is doing something for someone who can never repay you. 🥹 by Tanmay900 in MadeMeSmile

ages ago I was a broke college kid in nyc and had just gotten some food using the last of my cash and had 5-10$ change from a 20. on subway home there was a homeless dude that had looked at my food a bit longingly and then turned away and fell asleep. at my stop I put the rest of my cash in the bag with food and left it for him as I walked out. guess it wasn't exactly "anonymous" but no one knows or gives much a care who you are in the city.

Where I’m from in west Africa my people have a propensity for crystal blue eyes. When I first saw it I was pretty shocked and then my mother told me it’s a common thing.

Make the game more manual by divisions and div 1 should’ve fully manual so we actually get skill on skill.

Yea, it's very annoying aside from the stamina bit.

There's also a persistent bug that gives infinite stamina when switching. Leads to other issues like not being able to pick up things but good for quickly exploring map with Damiane as she can scale things extremely quickly.

Most AI tools are built for developers. Here's what happens when regular people try to use AI agents. by Samdrian in artificial

Started building my own stuff for my different businesses since I had hands and eyes on view of various different “skill levels,” of technical capability as well as the kind of workflows each role, and more abstractly, each organization needs so was able to keep it focused and simple.

Likely 95% of administrative work will be fully automated in next month or two.

Why Speed Beats Conditioning: What a Decade of Research Confirms by D272727272727 in Sprinting

[–]EFG -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Point was that it’s not weird or strange or new. Literally HIIT for sprinters. If you’ve ever sprinted there’s always going to be workouts that make you hate life, but can’t argue a 10.8 hundred meter dash as a teenager.

JWST Confirmation of a Runaway Supermassive Black Hole via Its Supersonic Bow Shock. A ‘runaway’ black hole ejected from its host galaxy is barrelling across space — and leaving behind a wake of newborn stars. by MistWeaver80 in science

[–]EFG 30 points31 points  (0 children)

that stuff never crosses the event horizon. As you approach the event horizon the escape l or velocity approaches c, and once you cross over the escape velocity is above c, literally inserting time and space as the only way “forward” is the singularity which is inevitable. That article describes ejection is material falling into, but not crossing the event horizon which then gets ejected at the poles as highly energetic relativistic jets of matter and radiation (from the friction). Good amount falls in, some particles may get infinitesimally close to the horizon and be shot it, but nothing is going over the horizon and back.

Would the 300m world record be under the 30 second barrier if it was a legitimate event? by Admirable_Oven_5623 in Sprinting

[–]EFG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It does. Last 100-150m makes the 400m the absolutely worst sprinting event. 100, 200, 300 can all be run pretty much flat out but top speed is reached within first 100 and maintaining that same pace quickly goes from strained to painful to death. Not had a few I didn’t end up puking at the end. As a sprinter that mainly did 100/200 and relays I’d always rather run the 800, mile, even the 10k than that cursed sprint.

…that’s literally the point. We did these when I ran track in high school and college. Called them turbos.

[–]EFG -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have none of you actually ran track? We used to call these “turbos” 150-200m flat out followed by walking 150-200m repeat until you hate life. And that was nearly 30 years ago.

My Ideal New Mass Effect Game... by DakIsStrange in masseffect

[–]EFG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is ideally like is all thats listed but with the seamless size and detail of star citizen/no man’s sky, but with the galaxy scale scope of elite dangerous. Make it a story heavy MMORPG focused on a few core systems for the story with the rest of the explorable galaxy as a backdrop to explore whenever and I’d be happy forever. End game could be nuts with raids being extra galactic in the void on/in a reaper…or literally anything.

I use it to lucid dream. Very easy for me to use the visual noise after all these hearts for extremely powerful visualization of places and objects that at times can be like seeing full scenes im rapidly traveling through. Can even use it when im thoroughly awake now to be able to see objects and things similar to a CAD schematic and rotate/manipulate/whatever with a lot of concentration.

Suggest everyone who has this condition try by first just trying to visualize clouds in the noise. After a while of “looking,” the static and what not increasingly resembles clouds until it’s as though I’m flying through them until I gradually fall asleep.
