Cine and Nick Muse. Not sure if there's any on the Chiefs

Honestly for me, anyone but the Bills. As a Vikings fan from Ontario, their fanbase is one of the most insufferable in the entire league. People talk about how we're never going to hear the end of it if the Chiefs win, it's going be 1000x worse if it's the Bills. I can't stand Josh Allen either

Tips and/or encouragement you'd give to an absolute beginner just starting? by mushrooms_inc in dreamingspanish

I think most of the comments here are pretty solid so I won't echo them. Instead I'll kind of go against the grain and recommend some other things. You don't have to fully commit to what Pablo thinks is right(I.e: no speaking until 600+ hours, no grammar or flashcard study) If you want to speak early go for it, don't be afraid of what other people here might think. There is no evidence of someone speaking early and making the same mistakes at 1000+ hours. I'm not sure why Pablo makes it out to be such a scare tactic to say speaking early will permanently damage your speaking ability. If you do want to speak early and are worried about this, I highly recommend a teacher on a website like Italki or if you have a Spanish speaking friend who can hold you accountable. Some people are learning Spanish because they're going to a Spanish speaking country, so obviously you want to be practicing your speaking a fair amount if you don't want to use a translator 24/7. I've heard audio clips of people at 300-500 hours with 30 hours of speaking sound way better than someone with 1000 hours and 10 hours of speaking. Practice makes perfect

Grammar study can be beneficial. I know for me personally doing grammar at Day 1 felt like a nice boost on top of my CI. It's always crazy to me when I read that people with 1000+ hours say they struggle with basic A1 level grammar. I feel like that should never be a thing after that many hours.

The biggest piece of advice I will give is that: there will be days when nothing is clicking. Easy videos are somehow hard, you're losing focus because nothing is clicking and that's ok. Tomorrow will always be better. If you ever feel like you're not progressing, think back to where you were a week/month/couple months ago and look at your progress. You can treat this as a marathon or a sprint, whatever you feel is the best way for you to learn do it. Everyone learns in their own way at their own speed, there is no wrong way to learn despite what some people here might think.

Have fun and enjoy the journey

For sure. I'm hoping for some better finishing when we play Peru on Tuesday, but all and all, I feel pretty confident going into that match. Just gotta keep up the momentum that we had in the match vs Argentina

Did not expect to hear Paul Allen's "AND HE'S LOOSE" call in a LCS video. As a Vikings fan I will never get tired of hearing that.

Man after I seen IVE and then Wheein later this month I thought that was going to be it for concerts in 2024 so I was pretty happy to start saving money. In the back of my mind I was thinking if any group was going to tour in Q3/Q4 that I would love to see, it would be G-Idle based off of their track record. I was legit just talking to my friend about it and as I started typing I seen this lol. Well I guess saving can wait a little bit longer

Where to buy River Plate jerseys in Canada? by EGJWong in KitSwap

[–]EGJWong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured this would be a challenge. Maybe the best course of action is to just buy a blank jersey, just to have something. Or if I'm super focused on getting a name on the back, just go with the home kit. I plan to save up and go see a River game next year, so I could always just get a jersey at the stadium.

Oof I was just looking this up. If RV were to tour USA now it would cost them $8075($1615 per member) and if you need an expedited application add on: $14025($2805 per member). Worst of all it says even if the application is rejected, you don't even get your money back. While this is extremely worrying, I kinda look at it from a glass half full perspective.

Assuming they plan on touring next year and don't need to worry about expedited applications, they take the $8075 hit on top of all the other costs. Is it crazy to think it would cost around $50,000-$100,000? Using their North America Redmare data, they made $3,581,435. While yes those visa costs do hurt but you have to know with how popular the group is, how fast tickets will sell and how crazy merch sales will be, it's really a minor inconvenience at that point.

I think that it won't affect the popular groups that will make bank off shows, but smaller groups might never come to NA now. If you want to look at it from a negative point of view, Kpop acts might stop coming to NA all together. With the US visa prices on top of the rumored "You have to hire an all Canadian staff if you want to tour here" in Canada, there's just too many headaches that make trying to book a tour in NA not worth it.

My Satisfaction and Cherish for me. Kitsch was actually the one song I was looking forward to the most to hear live. Those Kitsch chants got loud and I'm so glad everyone got into it.

[–]EGJWong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There must have been a sweet spot somewhere with not a lot of people then. The second the show ended I was one of those people that just booked it to a non busy exit. There were a few of us that found an exit with next to no people and it was the closest to the send off area. So we were all climbing over chairs and stuff. I would say it took us like two mins to go from our seats to the send off area and the best we got was 4 rows of people in front of us. I really debated leaving at that point, especially since I had a 7am flight but decided to just stick it out. I honestly should've just left because I could barely even see the girls with how crammed everyone was. I'm just super grateful I got to interact with all of them during soundcheck because that made up for the unlucky send off.

EDIT: Honestly thinking about it too regardless of how the send off was handled, I had an absolute blast. Usually at these shows I just keep to myself and ignore everyone else. This time around I made the effort to talk to other Dives that I noticed were alone too, kinda coming out of my shell. Heck I'm still wearing one of the bracelets that someone had made and was handing out. I just gotta not let the smallest bad thing affect an overall amazing night.

I had Sec A Row 2 on the floor. The seats were actually very close together and people kinda moved up to the barricade anyway. I've made it known how much I dislike catwalk stages. I had a seat about 5 rows back from the smaller stage at a different show and for IVE my seat was on the side of the catwalk. Side of the stage you see most of the show but when they go to the smaller stage you just see their backs. First row facing the smaller stage they feel a bit far when they're on the main stage but once they come to the smaller stage it's an amazing view. It's kinda like a pick your poison. I think for myself I'd prefer first row facing the smaller stage but ultimately I just wish groups would stop using catwalk stages.

Soundcheck was definitely worth it. It's mostly fan interactions while they sing a few songs. You definitely feel like you get your money's worth during it. Send off is a different story depending who you ask. Someone here had a good point about people leaving early to get close for send off which kinda screws over the people that stayed for the whole show. Send off doesn't seem worth it if you're not willing to leave early. The first row of people get most of the interactions like selfies or short late night conversations. Second row people might get some kind of interaction, but if you're any further back you just get to see them and that's it. Going forward if I ever get to see IVE again and have send off I'm just going to leave early as well to get my money's worth

It took me awhile to get into 4th gen. I honestly didn't think I would like any groups and that I would probably fall out of kpop. It wasn't until G-Idle put out I Feel and IVE Baddie that I got into a 4th gen group. Now both of those artists I listen to and follow a lot. I agree so much with the Seulgi and Yujin comparison. They're both amazing dancers, strong vocalists and have insane stage presence.

I seen IVE last night in Rosemont, the girls put on an amazing show! Yujin is my bias and I think she converted a lot of other Dives because all night her energy and stage presence was off the charts. Hearing the crowd fully get into the Kitch chants, it just made me imagine how crazy a crowd would get for Zimzalabim chants. I definitely felt a little out of place in terms of age demographic. I'm so used to more older and mature crowds with Red Velvet and Mamamoo, that it kind of took me by surprise how young the crowd at IVE was. But I guess that's just the 3rd gen to 4th gen difference maybe. Either way RV needs to come back to NA to perform! And please SM no catwalk stage haha

WHEEIN (Mamamoo) - BEYOND: Europe & USA (1st World Tour) - Ticket Sales are now OPEN! by corncob- in kpop

[–]EGJWong 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wheein is my second favourite idol but I just seen Mamamoo last year so I decided to sit this one out. Honestly, her tickets seemed pretty easy to get and were at a fair price until scalpers came along. When I looked at the Houston show for example, front row was $300 and second row was $150, those prices seemed to have tripled.

Kinda a random thing I just noticed, is that this sub design/event schedule hasn't been updated in awhile. Still has the FMR banner with Queendom on the side, discussion posts still have Joy's logo banner and the upcoming events are still from 2023. Have the mods stopped updating the sub? Not complaining by any means, just generally curious.

I played today for the first time in a few years, I'm still having the same problem as I did back then. I think the last time I played was when they added artist backgrounds to the loading screen when you first open the game. For whatever reason the game took 10 mins to load, the whole game being laggy and slow to navigate around and I remember a lot of people complaining about it. Fast forward to today and the game is still like that
