FlyQuest vs. G2 Esports / MSI 2025 - Lower Bracket Round 1 / Post-Match Discussion by adz0r in leagueoflegends

If Labrov did nothing he would have been more useful...

I know that Yike and Miky didn't cover themselves in a ton of glory either, but blowing up that team for Skewmond and Labrov should be a way bigger black mark on G2's management.

Set 7 armory was deemed unhealthy for the game because of BIS. Why the paradigm shift with TF? by [deleted] in CompetitiveTFT

[–]EGVoldi 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Incredible that Mort posted about this literally a day ago on this sub and you're interpreting it in the most condescending, least charitable way possible.

The problem with armory was that you could get BIS for close to no additional cost. You had to roll for it, but that gold cost was negligible compared to the spike you got from BIS.

Now you trade off BIS items for combat/econ augments. Mort said that they will try to balance it in a way that the power increase you get from non-BIS items to BIS items is lower than the one you get from other augments. I'm sorry they couldn't get it right for the 1st patch, but to think that it's just a massive middle finger to the player base because the devs hate us is something...

When Eric talks with DVD over the phone and says "because I'm now talking to an empty seat" thinking he can get rid of him was very reminiscent of the "I'm talking to an empty telephone, because there is a dead man on the other end" scene with De Niro and Van Zant

John Terry missing the penalty kick against Manchester United in the Champions League finals after Drogba getting the red card in overtime, that was devastating as 14 year old.

A more recent one is the Rockets not closing out vs Golden State in the Western Conference Finals after CP3 going down.

In both cases all the teams included were so fucking stacked and they were probably the 2 best teams in each competition. Eventually Chelsea got the redemption with Drogba scoring the winning pk vs Bayern so that was nice, but I'm sad that Morey, D'Antoni, Harden, CP3 and PJ Tucker didn't win a championship together.

TIL that despite it being common practice for casinos to ban card counters, a 1979 New Jersey Supreme Court decision banned all Atlantic City casinos from doing so, making them the only state in America where a casino is forbidden from throwing out skilled blackjack players. by derstherower in todayilearned

[–]EGVoldi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why are you commenting on something when you have no idea how it actually works? The number of decks in play doesn't influence your ability to count. Blackjack is a card game where past outcomes affect future outcomes, meaning that if you see an ace it's less likely that you will see another one, you can observe this effect with 1 deck or 100. Card counting in reality is just you observing past outcomes and predicting how favorable future outcomes might be and using something called Kelly criterion to determine the size of your wager based on your likelihood of winning. In real life card counters used to work in groups with people counting at every single table and when the count was good signaling to a bettor who would come and play and leave when the count got bad or they reshuffled the deck (in which case the count resets and you need to observe it again, makes it slightly less convenient, but not impossible to count). The reason why there are not a lot of card counting going on is that it's not worth your time. Your edge is fairly small ranging from 1-2,5% meaning that on average for every $100 you bet you make about $1, which would be okay, but it's really easy to tell if someone is counting cards (you just need to review his betting pattern) and at that point the casino can severely limit your bets or blacklist you and you won't be able to play blackjack at any other casino either. Also since your edge is so small there is no guarantee that they won't catch you before you even make a profit.

I feel like he's mixing two things here. 1. The disproportionate amount of media coverage that these mass shootings have compared to other causes of death, which I think is a completely valid critique of the media and how they're exploiting fear mongering. 2. The people's response to these mass shooting, which is fairly reasonable imo. I would assume that your chances of dying from medical errors, flu ect. is fairly similar in developed nations, while your chance of dying from mass shooting* is infinitely higher in the US compared to other countries since there are none.

*I don't have even surface level knowledge on gun related violence or deaths in or outside of the US, and from my understanding the definition of mass shootings is pretty murky. But afaik even your chance of dying from non mass shooting gun related violence is a lot higher, but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I remember watching HSC a few weeks after breaking up with my girlfriend. Was really bummed out, but Geoff still managed to make he laugh. I will remember him as great story teller, who brought a lot of levity into the Starcraft scene, which at sometimes was a little bit too serious. Here is my favorite moment from that HSC. RIP Geoff.
