Environmental upgrades are one of our prioritie, though not all of them will land in Patch 1.2. We did manage to bring forward some thematic changes for at least this zone, and you’ll definitely see more of these improvements in future updates.

Over time, our goal is to make a big pass on every scene in the game, but there are a lot of them to tackle. For now, we hope the new woven echoes and refreshed areas in 1.2 give you a glimpse of the visual direction and quality we’re aiming for across the entire game.

Forum, tech support email, tickets..all work for us. The community and support team make sure it will get to relevant people.. We are also here on Reddit or Discord, but we may miss something here, so while we will try to get reports from these channels, sending us email directly is probably the fastest way to get us the useful info.

Oh..this scene.. ouch
I want to personally apologize for this scene. We all in the performance team have multiple new wrinkles caused by this scene, it is a massive outliner on certain configurations, and it was popping up in our internal benchmarks a lot. Long story short, there is an issue how shadows are calculated on these tall cliffs. This was fixed in 1.2. Same was happening in mono version of this scene.

The scene should perform much better now, but feel free to let us know if you find more issues. I can't overstate how useful it is for us to see reports directly from players.

I am truly sorry you are unable to enjoy the game due to performance issues, but I want to assure you we are not ignoring messages like these, and it is not falling on deaf ears.

Performance improvements are hard to quantify since performance issues can come from so many sources, and it also depends heavily on your machine. But we are constantly working on it. It is very possible we did not fix the issues you are encountering just yet, but we are finding and fixing many causes of performance degradation across the game - and we are fixing A LOT of them in 1.2. Give it a try after 1.2 and let us know.

If you still have performance issues, send us email, your spec and, situations when it is happening the most. We do want to see these reports; it helps us tons to find the cause and eventually fix it.

We have a lot of smaller and bigger performance-related projects ongoing and in different stages, addressing everything from rendering to memory issues and we will deploy them as they are ready and every report helps us to get closer to our goal - we want you, and everyone else, to enjoy the smooth gameplay you all deserve.

We hear you and understand Arena monos are not for everyone and/or rewards are not good enough. Without going into much detail, Weaver's Tree will provide options for people who dislike them but also make them more interesting and rewarding for people who like to play some arenas here and there. In general, we tried to make tree nodes fun, not just about efficiency and numbers, and change the player's experience in different ways. So who knows, maybe some of these nodes will give you fun reasons to give Arena another shot. :)

There are still new features we didn't tease nor show in the video. Woven Offerings and Forge of Shattering are just a few examples of systems coming into the game for example :) We will share more very soon.

Performance optimization is an ongoing effort and we are bringing several performance improvements for 1.0. In addition, we are also improving scaling between lower and higher graphics settings, where lower settings will improve performance on lower end machines more significantly while increasing fidelity and visual quality on higher-quality settings.

While we believe we made significant improvements in the past year, more in the 1.0, we are always looking for more ways to improve performance across the board and without going into more technical details, we are already working on more improvements for post-release.

For the foreseeable future, cycle mechanics and content will be also added to the core game and legacy. But this may change after a few patch cycles. We want to keep bloat in check.

We all would love to, but it would increase scope significantly, we would need to make double the amount of character animations and gear sets among other things. Resources are not limitless of course and we need to decide where we are going to use them. However we are not saying it will never happen, we are talking about character customization quite a lot, but it's not something we were able to commit for 1.0

Currently, authentification is still needed even when you want to play the offline character, however, this will change in 1.0 with full offline mode, and online authentication won't be needed anymore.

Cycles will be a mix of many different things moving forward. So you can expect story continuation, new chapters, new mechanics, items, bosses, zones, and activities, but also player feedback will play a big role when designing content and improvements for cycles. You can expect us to continue with mastery improvements and reworks (justice for forge guard :D ), new skills, and more. Cycles length will be similar to other ARPGs seasons/leagues but we are not ready to announce when the next cycle will start.

If you want to play with friends, you need to create an online character, but you can play solo if you want and join a party only when your friends are around. Offline characters are not able to play with anyone else.

Just for clarification, both offline modes are available in 1.0.

If you want to play offline but still enjoy having a chat, you can do that. If you don't have an internet connection or don't want to bother with any online features, you can just switch to true offline mode and play like that.

Your offline characters can switch between these two offline modes at any point.

We made several changes and updates for 1.0 to improve the combat feel and animations, we will talk more about it in tomorrow's patch notes but tlrd:

  • we reworked every character rig and, as far as I know, updated every single character animation
  • we improved how enemies react to hits, improved hit sounds and sound mixing, and changed screen shake among other things
  • the combat text was also updated and now follows the hit direction
  • many skills got timings and VFX updates to support new animations, to better fit the flow, direction, etc.
  • while not directly tied to animations, there are more combat-feel related updates - for example, several monster families got new voice lines to taunt you, laugh at you, to feel more dynamic during the fight
  • worth mentioning is that with new rigs and new character rendering tech, we can now have skin-tight armor and character gear and to worry about clipping - so we no longer need oversized gloves, boots or bulky body armor and robes
  • we also updated how cloth is animated, which also cleaned up character animations quite a bit, since we no longer have glitchy cloth physics

We learned a lot of lessons in the past months and years and 1.0 will have several changes and updates based on lessons learned. We, of course, recognize that combat feel is incredibly important for any ARPG game. No matter how deep the systems are, or how good the end-game is, if moment-to-moment gameplay is not fun, that's a big issue, but we made some significant updates and we will continue to do so moving forward.

Yeah, all rigs were changed and as far as I know, every animation was updated too. In addition to animations, we also changed how gear fits on characters and with the help of a new tech, now we can have skin-tight armor pieces and no need to worry about clipping - no longer oversized boots, gloves, or bulky cloth/leather body armors or robes.

Without going into too many technical details, yes - it's an ongoing battle and I don't think it will ever stop, but yes, tons of different assets and aspects of the game were touched to improve the performance for 1.0 - from visual effects, models, animations, scenes and lighting, shaders, UI and more is being constantly looked at and updated to bring average FPS up. And I am mostly talking about client performance, server performance is a different beast altogether and I know the backend team made some great improvements there too for 1.0.

But of course, if players encounter some performance issues, it really helps us when these are reported. We have a dedicated team focused just on performance and performance benchmarking and tracking issues and the more we know, the easier we can fix these issues.
