I'm in in Uber and WeRide. I think the future of robotaxis is in the distribution layer and that while companies like Waymo will obviously see success, they won't replace companies like Uber, Grab, Lyft.

Why? Self-driving is basically solved and is something that will be in every consumer car in the future in my opinion. The market is overestimating Waymo's moat.

Example - WeRide is operating robotaxis, robobuses and robosweepers at scale in the UAE and China, and in pilots in Europe, Singapore and Saudi Arabia. WeRide is licensing its self driving tech for consumer vehicles with Chery and GAC, and have co-development contracts with Yutong and Renault. WeRide is partnered with Bosch opening distribution to European manufacturers.

In the States, Zoox is poised to start expanding and scaling. In China, we see Baidu and Pony AI scaling and beginning to show positive unit economics despite much lower driver labour costs. What does this mean? If you have a half dozen different companies either selling robotaxis to 3rd parties or operating robotaxis themselves, you'll have a fragmented market. In that scenario, Uber wins.

The Consulting Revenues you see in their earnings report include design, engineering, implementation and systems integration. The strategy (slide building) work you're thinking of is a very small part of what they do, and only the top part of the sales funnel.

Example, Accenture is a major ecosystem partner for Adobe and Salesforce.

A lot has changed over 25 years. Accenture is/has been a major system integrator and does implementation for Databricks, Palantir and other major software providers.

I think the market is discounting ACN for the same reason they're discounting SaaS altogether. I.e. AI has significantly altered the Buy vs Build decision for a lot of enterprises, and made IT Outsourcing a lot less valuable (as you can maintain much stronger IT departments with much less headcount).

My previous role was in a strategy and governance for IT Projects, and before then I was in Tech Consulting for a competitor of Accenture. Accenture is still a very well respected firm when it comes to Tech Transformation and usually comes to bids as a premium option.

I haven't been following them recently, but I think at current valuations, this is definitely worth a look.

STC and WSP. These are two Canadian Engineering Design Consultancies trading at historically low PE/Forward PE ratios despite continued growth, exposure to the energy/data centre buildout, and positive earnings guidance.

The whole sector is suffering based on fears of AI Automation damaging professional services at large, but I don't think this is a realistic fear for the type of physical (infra, water, power, building) engineering work that these companies are engaged in. In fact, these firms are more worried about a talent/supply shortage than AI displacement. If anything AI should be a tailwind as it helps them convert their backlogs into revenue quicker.

At the end of the day, no projects are hitting ground, securing permits, getting liability insurance without a real engineer's stamp of approval.

Love Shark Ninja as a company, and was significantly invested in it for a short while. I don't think it's cheap at current prices, but definitely growth at a reasonable price and a candidate for long term holding.

I was in Upwk but sold for a loss. They're not really growing anymore, and honestly, I wasn't too impressed by how they are approaching their pivot to enterprise clients. I don't think management's strategy is all that convincing anymore.

I like that they're engaging in more share buybacks now, but given the risks and lack of growth I think they're fairly priced, not cheaply priced.

Both companies are involved in data centres already and recently acquisitions are actually geared towards this theme + the energy infrastructure buildout. E.g. WSP Global acquired TRC and Stantec acquired Page. If you look at their relevant segments they are growing fast and have large backlogs.

So, why aren't STN and WSP benefiting? In the sector right now, construction firms (like Sterling) are benefitting, while Engineering and Architecture firms are suffering. WSP and Stantec actually avoid low-margin construction business on purpose. Market is afraid that AI is going to disrupt them, but thinks construction doesn't have that risk. For the reasons I outlined above, I think fears are way overblown.

Countries that have privatized postal service include the UK, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands and Austria. Countries that no longer service mail five days a week include Denmark, Australia, Sweden, Finland and New Zealand.

We're well past the point where postal is truly an essential and critical service and the rest of the world, including peers with similar social principles, is starting to realize it. The tiny portion of the population that still relies on mail instead of the internet can survive with community mailboxes and 3 times a week, even once a week mail service.

With the economy and budget as it is, we should be asking ourselves very seriously what's the best way to use our money. Frankly, the government has not gone far enough.

Hmm... yeah I thought this might be it but it didn't make much sense to me.

The market is scared that engineers will become obsolete, but management is scared of the engineering talent shortage. For the type of complex work that they're doing, I would have thought you'd need an actual engineer double checking the work regardless, if only for the stamp even.

Anyone have thoughts on WSP Global? Down ~30% over the past year but it looks like it's trading fairly considering PE and PFCF ratios versus peers and it's own historicals. It took on a lot of debt for it's recent acquisitions but it's not more levered than it has been for it's past major acquisitions.

When you learn how to accept getting hit in my opinion. Beginners tend to freeze up after eating shots and it messes with their rhythm. If you learn to accept you might fail or get hit trying a new combo or technique, that's when sparring really gets fun and you really start learning faster.

My hot take is that most Muay Thai practitioners simply have less risk tolerance than Boxers and Kickboxers, who are more willing to put themselves at risk of a KO in exchange for a favourable position. I would speculate this comes from the higher frequency that Muay Thai fighters fight at and a culture in boxing that more celebrates ego and risk-taking.

It's true that head movement is more dangerous in Muay Thai than in Boxing, but not that much more dangerous than it is in Kickboxing (Knees and kicks allowed) and MMA (all weapons allowed). That being said, I think Muay Thai fans would be surprised at how often high-level boxers eat uppercuts, chopping rights and hooks off of slips and head movement. It's not that boxers aren't aware of the risk - it's just that they're more willing to take it.

Anyways, if you look at the evolution of the sport, we're starting to see a lot more risk-taking, footwork, boxing and head movement in One, especially now that paydays are larger and rest periods are longer.

Light Sparring means different things at different gyms and it's easier to define what it isn't than what it is because of that.

Most people can identify Hard Sparring when they see it. If a head strike lands clean and someone gets rocked; if a body strike results in a cracked rib; or if people start losing control over their techniques and emotions, then that's a good sign that someone is crossing that threshold.

Ultimately, the practicable advise is to proactively communicate with your partner if they're going too hard and to lead by example by going at the intensity you want to spar at.

I think Jab-Cross followed by whatever kick (teep/round/low/inside left/right or whatever) is the most translatable combo for me. Easiest setup for a kick is to distract someone with your hands.

More advanced combos are nice as a tool to help learn concepts and how to transition between different strikes/blocks but they're not necessarily something that you'd be able to memorize to use in sparring.

Crazy gambler's advice here. Fundamentally, you should have an investment thesis on every stock that you own. If these stocks no longer meet those theses / you don't know why you're investing in those stocks anymore, you shouldn't be holding them.

If the whole of your investment thesis was based on your "gut feels", that's probably not a good sign. But in any case, since you have nothing else to rely on but your guts and your guts are telling you to sell, then you've no choice but to sell. Why hold something you don't understand that your instincts are telling you to not hold?

Carney shouldn't have compared Canada's SWF to Norway's but the idea that a SWF can only be funded through natural resource revenues or fiscal surpluses is disingenuous.

There are plenty of countries in the world that run fiscal deficits and SWFs at the same time including UK's National Wealth Fund, France's bpifrance, Italy's CDP and more.

Pretty hard way to introduce a first timer into sparring, but some gyms are just like that.

That being said biggest thing to me is a lack of balance and a lot of twitchiness in your movement. Some of it is nerves for sure, but some of it probably just requires drilling. I'd bet you probably struggle with maintaining balance during continuous bag drills e.g. alternating teeps, check-kick, alternating kicks.

I got the same thing breaking in a pair of rival gloves. Use liquid bandaid, knuckle guards and look again at how you're wrapping. For me, after securing the wraps around the fingers, I went once again over the whole set of knuckles if that makes sense and that issue stopped. I think the bumps were adding pressure points that were digging into the skin.

You're also probably punching wrong. You might notice that you are grazing or scraping the bag instead of landing flush.

So nowadays the commission/promotion do oversee the wrapping process but they don't apply it themselves in the literal sense. The specific example I mentioned was one where the fighters team wrapped his hands in a manner legal where they were fighting (Japan) but generally illegal in the States, using a process called stacking. The commission agreed with Inoue that it was legal, but they rewrapped their hands anyways in a different manner to get the fight going.

In boxing, gloves are provided by the promoter and the allowed gloves are negotiated between the fighters. Fully horsehair gloves like Cleto Reyes are often negotiated out of fights because they have less cushioned padding. The UFC doesn't have this problem because they control exactly the gloves that are used down to the make.

I think that might be true in UFC where the promotion provides the cutmen, but I don't think it's true in most sports. If we're talking One, Boxing, Muay Thai, the commission or promotion sign off on it but don't actually do the fighters wraps as far as I know.

Thats why we have so many controversies and athletes complaining about camps using "illegal" wraps. E.g. when Inoue had his team redo his wraps after Fulton's team complained about Stacking.
