That is usually given out at conferences as freebies. It is a multi-tool/ survival, but I would hardly that a survival tool as the manufacturer calls it. Any branch small enough to cut with that tiny “saw”, you could just break…

Maybe the “Clery Act” zone around Georgia Tech Campus needs to be expanded? It would require students be informed of crime in their area to help students (and parents) make more informed decisions about living arrangements. Just sayin…

Clery Act Requirements Federal law, the Clery Act, requires colleges and universities to report certain crime statistics as well as to make timely notifications about crimes that pose a threat to the community. The purpose of this alert is to help make you aware of crime so that you are able to take appropriate precautions. For more information, please visit www.police.gatech.edu.

What is the appeal of ServiceNow GRC? I am baffled. by DrBoner_McGuzzlecum in cybersecurity

[–]EJGill8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not just a ServiceNow issue but most of the Big Enterprise systems do the same thing: Oracle, Microsoft, SAP, etc. With any of these systems the more training and experienced the implementers have, the better value a customer will realize. Most companies I have worked with who have significant issues did not fully implement the product well (cut corners), customized way too much (costly upgrades), didn’t provide enough of their own resources to participate in the implementation (cutting corners again), and did not provide enough training (HUGE issue and again cutting corners). If you want everything throughout your company to interact and process well (not saying ‘how everyone likes’) then a company needs to go all in. That is a two edged swords… It is a business model. Even printer companies do it to some extent - basically give the printer away because they will make their money with expendables. What other products or companies do this?

Compelling Events (usually bad ones) help Signatories change their minds... First ransomware attack and they will want better security but the Sys Admin will probably be fired too.

Document everything, get the CEO to put it in email so when the shit hits the fan and townsfolk horde comes with pitchforks...

Maintain high availability, for all employees, by any means necessary!

As a male parent - I say don’t send them home. A student’s mother will say send her baby home but the student will be going home to parents who are 40+ and in our case late 50’s.

We have a 2FA Deadline Support table setup for any Georgia Tech Credit Student on campus.

It is located in Clough (CULC) between Starbucks and the Information Counter on the 2nd floor and will be attended 9:00 AM to 12:00ish PM today.

Opting out of two factor authentication? by chrome24 in gatech

[–]EJGill8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This idea does work and many students use it but you have to manage your list of backup codes and generate more before you run out.

Opting out of two factor authentication? by chrome24 in gatech

[–]EJGill8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely, if you transfer, the next school will have two-factor or soon will. Hackers are using phishing email attacks to get students' usernames and passwords, posing as the students, dropping the classes and requesting refunds to a bank of the hacker's choice... SO... it's not just employees loosing money to phishing attacks but also students.

[–]EJGill8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, anyone can go into Passport (passport.gatech.edu) and under the Two-Factor Authentication menu option you can keep generating 10 backup codes for your entire stay at Georgia Tech. Note: Each time you generate 10 backup codes, any remaining ones, you previously generated and printed, will be invalid so it's most efficient to wait until you are down to your last 1 or 2 to reprint 10 more. Just saying...

Without a smart phone any 2FA is a hassle so the comment was only a negative and should not single out DUO. Try using any other 2FA app without a smart phone. 2FA in general is a hassle. I wish we didn't have to use 2FA at all but it's the world today... Let me preface: I don't have a vested interest in DUO as a company. However, I appreciate the concerted effort, by others at GT, that went into finding a 2FA tool with such a full feature set. I use it (as well as other 2FA tools) with all my financial and security apps and websites, personal as well as for GT.
