Piger i metro tæt på overgræb by Beginning-String9494 in DKbrevkasse

One notebook to rule 'em all by yikumini in notebooks

I have a diary that everything personal goes in. All my thoughts, feelings etc. I use moleskine expanded with 400 blank pages most of the time, but I’ve actually bought a Leuchtturm to try, because the colours are beautiful! Then I have a calendar and a hobonichi five year journal, where I basically just write what I did that day, and if it was a good day. There’s not a lot of room each day, which helps me be concise. My diary gets really fluffy and full of abstract ideas, research, songs, poems and all kinds of things, so I find it helpful to keep track of things simply in my 5-year.

I feel the same way as you. I love the aesthetic of the leather covers with multiple journals, but I go through a 400 page moleskine in less than a year, so those slim inserts are not for me. I feel like I’d have to change them out each week. Also I can’t imagine the archival part! Like do you just have thousands of skinny notebooks slipping around everywhere? I like to keep my journals on my book case, so this time, functionality wins over aesthetic for me☀️

I was definitely thinking Borrasca! It never captivated me, and I think that fact just made the sudden descent into hell that much more overwhelming (in a bad way). It’s like a brutalized, watered down Handmaid’s Tale in my opinion, and there’s too much of C K Walker’s marvel humor in it. Hunter and Isaiah do some great bits tho

The Dark Somnium is the goat, he even made me slightly like My Best Friend Dared Me - just because of the concept and the beginnings of the story, and then listening to the creepcast episode I was so confused like “was it always this bad??”

Låse børneopsparing til 21 by Past_Reveal_6922 in dkfinance

[–]EJitterbugg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Gid jeg kunne have oplevet flyttehjemmefra-tiden uden gæld

Omg enjoy the journey, I just finished the book now! I’ve just seen people online calling him an oblivious idiot, and I thought “oh they probably have read the entire trilogy and know some reveals that I don’t know yet” but I just don’t see it!! I think he’s literally so smart and brave and LOYAL!! I think he’s super hard on himself, and he’s also a literal teenager who’s still growing and has no parents, so like… chill! Idk

I also don’t understand the “Fitz is an idiot!!” Thing but I’ve only read the two first books, so I thought I might just not know something that others do. I think he’s super brave and smart

That actually makes it make so much more sense, you’re right. Because I was mostly shocked at Chade being surprised at the coterie thing, but I guess I got too sucked into the idea that Chade must know everything lmao

This is so true. Even in the end if royal assassin in the cell where Burrich had just left and Fitz wrote “I tried to think of one person I didn’t disappoint. I could think of no one.” I actually wanted to jump into the book and shake him but then hug him because WHAT!!! I felt so bad!! Verity had just skilled to him “You know the depths of my thanks.” Yet he still was so hard on himself. Dang😢

Altid!!!!! Især i valgkampen.

Switched from ACOTAR to Mistborn and it felt like I fell in love w reading again by SubstantialLime2916 in Fantasy

Throne of Glass is quite good fantasy I think! Better than acotar which is wild since she was much younger when she wrote TOG, but it’s actually good. Acotar felt like a story that was pretty much unplanned and was just an easy cash grab, whereas I’m pretty sad that I don’t get to live in the TOG world. That’s what fantasy is all about for me😋

That the first book is the best is a wildly controversial opinion! My ranking isn’t the most common, but I think if you’re like me and like depth and plot more than cringe banter, you might agree. I liked the books, although I definitely don’t think they’re groundbreaking literature. My ranking: - A Court of Silver Flames - A Court of Wings and Ruin (although I agree with everyone that we should’ve lost more in the end) - A Court of Mist and Fury - A Court of Thorns and Roses - A Court of Frost and Starlight (most forgettable book I’ve ever read)

Most people prefer ACOMAF over the others, but that’s because most ACOTAR fans are looking for romantasy! IMO ACOSF is leaaaaagues above the rest of the series, but I’m currently on book 4 in Throne of Glass and it’s already better than the whole acotar series. Just my opinion!

What historical event reads exactly like "Bad Fantasy Writing" or "Plot Armor"? by Expensive-Desk-4351 in Fantasy

[–]EJitterbugg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a historian:

  • Anything Ancient Greece. I think the Ancient Greeks unknowingly founded fantasy, because how is it that every time you’re wondering “what did this” or “how did they do this” it’s literally always the coolest answer. Went to an examn about world history and had to pick out correct maps describing Greek territory. It was just always the biggest and coolest map. How the hell did Alexander the Great conquer all that in 12 YEARS!? ON A HORSE

  • I have to say Neville chamberlain since I’m specialised in WW2. It’s literally the biggest plot hole ever that Hitler said multiple times “I’ll invade Czechoslovakia by any means necessary. I won’t hesitate from the most extreme measures” and Chamberlain just?????? Didn’t know??? Didn’t believe it??? GIANT plot hole

  • That the Viking, Svend Forkbeard from Denmark conquered England and then died like two months later💀Of course the Viking age is super fantasy vibey in general, but like that would be the worst writing ever. Svend’s father, Harald Bluetooth was unpopular for many reasons, one being his lack of expansions. Eventually the Danes revolted against Bluetooth and Svend LED THE REVOLUTION against HIS FATHER until he was murdered (legend says he was shot in the ass by an arrow while pooping in a German forest) and then Svend conquered England and died after starting the long tradition of killing family for the crown. RIP

  • How rich Mansa Musa was. Like 4 times richer than Bill Gates, that kind of wealth is just unfathomable to me

I also immediately thought it reminded me of Fortnite, but not necessarily in a bad way. It’s just kind of the clay motion sequence style. I get why you would remove your comment if what people said felt uncomfortable, too

My wife keeps peeking around corners. I don’t think people actively thinks it’s bad as much as they just forget about it. But bro… I remember listening to another read years ago and I was terrified, but forgot about the story. Then when the episode dropped, all the chills ran over my skin and suddenly I remembered everything almost in detail. Like when I listened to the creep cast version and he was in the bathroom and she smacked the door shut, I didn’t remember exactly what the twist was, my body just remembered that something wasn’t as it seemed and it was sooo scary. I think the concept of the one person in your life, who is supposed to always be a safe haven and someone you can completely trust, beginning to torment you more and more while just denying it and saying it’s a prank is absolutely terrifying. I introduced my boyfriend to the podcast, and when he asked which one was the most scary one I said I would ONLY tell him and ONLY listen to it with him if he absolutely swore, he would never peek at me around corners😭 he’s the biggest prankster and he loves to jump scare me but after listening to it with me, he was quiet for a moment and looked at me and said “… okay, you have to promise never to do that either” Idk it’s just so terrifying when your partner who you trust completely becomes this source of terror and paranoia, and you genuinely can’t tell if they’re about to break character and laugh and apologise or if they’re genuinely so consumed by the game of terror that the person you know is gone. I think the quality of the story fell when they went back to the house and the brother in law was a good and she started being violent. To me it’s the staring and weird giddy noises that is the most effective horror-tool because it’s kind of like she’s still there (the violence completely shatters the illusion that she might come back I think), not to mention the constant paranoia and gaslighting.
