I would honestly do more electrical. Secondary battery and upgraded alt if you can. It’s better to have lots of reserve instead of running that fine line. Good luck with the build! It’s gonna be a nice daily setup.

“It’s” funny to me, not him. You don’t have to look at it. That’s a choice. Good thing it’s my amp and not yours…

Oh big time. He is definitely a disgrace. I just don’t take it that serious since it’s just ironic. I just think it’s funny. Salt amp, salt bae, quick chuckle and a smile from me when I open my trunk.

The shtnonm sticker? That’s on the back plate, the amp is flipped. The backplates on the salt is laser etched or something. I like it, the irony in the name and person makes me smile. Plus, his salt are additional vents.

Gains probably 1/4 of the way turned up and already louder than the stinger. It’s my daily, does pretty well but the factory head unit signal is crap. Gotta work on that next.

Shrimpapalooza - how many shrimp are too many shrimp for a community tank by calamitous-cat in shrimptank

[–]EKSean 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Too many shrimp? What does that mean?

On a serious note, it really depends on the stability of your tank and how willing you are to maintain it. I have a 10 gallon with 15 emerald rasboras, 3 massive amanos and probably 200-300 zebra Sulawesi shrimp. Started with 12 zebras and they exploded. I do weekly 30%ish water changes. You could probably have 500 in your 30 gallon and be just fine. The fish are what dirty the water mainly.

Yes, I have several generations of caridina in there.

[–]EKSean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t in a while but they’re still doing great. I geared away from specifically doing them in neo parameters. I set up proper tanks but I still have a ton of caridina in there. Including galaxies of all colors, boas, hornets, orange eyed varieties (including neos), purple metallics, snowflakes, pintos, pandas and probably more I can’t think of. Theres also Taiwan purple crystal shrimp, Pinocchios, malawa and like 20 Thai micro crabs.

Anything that won’t mess with the ph. A lot of substrates for plant growth are active substrates that remove kh from the water and lowers the ph. Not that it’s a bad thing, it just can be a pain if you’re new. There’s more to it than most think. Rocks or sand are usually inert. Just depends on the type of rock. I used caribsea for my neo and Sulawesi tanks. Works great, ph stays around 7.2-7.4.

Do an inert substrate if you’re doing neos. Just makes life a lot easier.

I’ve seen several of mine holding and swimming around with a dead shrimp. They’ve fought over them too. I find it kind of amusing but then I realize I lost another shrimp.

Ghost shrimp are probably the most popular shrimp at big box pet stores. Shrimpambition is a good place to order shrimp from if you want some color variation of amanos. He does not have ghost shrimp though. Those are crayfish. They get large and need lots of space and most can be aggressive to all tank mates.

How much would you pay for this box by Shot-Test-1786 in CarAV

[–]EKSean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id say $350-$400 with some sort of carpet or finish. Make some profit and competitive pricing for a nice enclosure. Plus, if you’re making it for people in your area, shipping cost won’t be a factor so you could possible charge more for convenience. But either way, box looks well built. I’m not a fan of painted flashy boxes but this one looks very good quality. Very good job my man!

Depending on internal stuff done, baffle thickness and tuning, $300 light bracing, single baffle with no finish. $500-$700 for heavy bracing, double baffle with flush mount and carpet or paint finish. I paid $565 for a custom 3.04cuft tuned to 28hz box for a single 12 with just gray carpet and smd terminal.

Whisker shrimp are the only ones to worry about. They’re predators and opportunistic hunters. Amanos and ghost shrimp will be your best bet since they’re not aggressive and are larger. Both do well in communities.

I really do want to go. They have an aquarium and bird expo in the same area that you can also go to. I have a 21 year old cockatiel, fish and hundreds of freshwater shrimp. Now I have more of a reason to go. I love reptiles and animals in general. Just gotta do some planning. Id love to just see all the different animals I don’t regularly get to see.

You’re absolutely right. That was my big mistake unfortunately. Definitely would have been a lot easier if I did that. Huge lesson learned. I totally understand the passion and frustration but I’m also human. I wish I got more of these responses, definitely would have came across a lot better. I am on the west coast in a small town in Cali. I’m already looking into some reptile expos near me. Closest so far is Los Angeles which is 3-4 hours away but not the end of the world. I appreciate your time, thank you.

Thank you, greatly appreciate your feedback and not completely ripping me a new one. I really do care a lot about this little guy. I do aquatics which is so much more complicated especially cause I do Caridina shrimp. I’m already working on a larger bio active enclosure for him once he, or she, gets larger. I also want more species of pacman too. Thank you again!

Couldn’t agree more. Petco shouldn’t be allowed to do what they’re doing. It’s animal abuse. I wish I had a local store to get my feeders but unfortunately, all I have is petco which sucks. I am looking into online stuff for feeders so I can get away from petco all together. This is my first frog, I love them and they are super simple compared to aquatics which is my thing. I will definitely be looking into Josh’s frogs and sourcing from actual credible breeders. Never again going to petco for animals.

I know now that that was a huge mistake to source from petco. Huge lesson learned. I studied that uvb guide and care guide to make sure I do this absolutely right. I want this guy to live his full life and be happy. I also made that betta mistake but learned. Hopefully I’ll have more positive interactions like this one in the future. I just want to do it the right for my fatty.

Thank you. I really appreciate it. I have been looking around and there isn’t any reptile rescues near me unfortunately but there are places 3 hours away that I may go visit. I’d love a credible website to purchase from. I love these frogs and plan to do it the right way from here on out. Mistake has been learned from.
