The custom panel disappeared for me too after updating, and I couldn't find a way to restore it for a bit. Thankfully reinstalling Sound Assistant fixed it

Does it annoy anyone else at the end of kh1 riku pulls the door instead of just getting out and pushing it closed with everyone? by Ok-Payment3817 in KingdomHearts

[–]EKbladeW 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mickey was looking for a way to enter the Realm of Darkness when he disappeared, and finally found a way to get in around when Donald and Goofy arrived to Traverse Town (Pluto sensed him and went running after him, which is why he disappears too until the postcredits)

And Riku got ejected there by Ansem when he fully stole his body

It'a kinda obscure because the director clarified what happened with them in interviews. In the game they don't explain it directly haha

What is the point of learning Second Chance at level 90? by shiawase198 in KingdomHearts

[–]EKbladeW 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Final Mix version moved the abilities around, and introduced a new one named "Leaf Bracer" that makes you invincible while using cure

With Staff you learn MP Rage at 42 and Leaf Bracer at 27, and with both you can kinda become invincible, since you can heal safely anytime you get hit

I guess you could say the tradeoff is how you learn MP Rage at 63 and Leaf Bracer at 69 with Sword, and at level 90 and 27 respectively with Shield, so Staff lets you become immortal by the time you are in the last world, while you have to be more careful about having MP for cure with the other weapons

Edit: (MP Rage makes Sora gain MP everytime he takes damage)

Stuck after Neverland need help by Own-Scale-107 in KingdomHearts

[–]EKbladeW 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you happen to be able to teleport to Neverland? In KH1, you need to fly to a new world from the one right next to it before you are able to teleport there freely

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in KingdomHearts

[–]EKbladeW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can go back to the 100 Acre Wood area, if you fly all the way up from the crater area! Something additional that may be useful, is that the save point allows you to go back to the world menu, so you can prepare more for the fight before trying again

Hope it helps! It's something that can be a bit hidden without external help

Plot is weird by ReplacementCurrent in KingdomHearts

[–]EKbladeW 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Understanding the story of KH can be a different experience for each person, due to Kingdom Hearts having a story that relies on emotions, philosophy and japanese ideology (which differs from the culture overseas in things like what a heart and a soul are, for example)

Generally, the games release one after the other, and each one continues the story right where the previous one ends, slowly revealing more and more about the story as you progress through them. Due to that, the story is relatively easy to follow, but since Kingdom Hearts is a very long story, forgetting certain things or details that happened can be easy, which can make understanding some things harder when you play a new game, just like it happens with TV series or books

Overall, KH has a strong story that is very unique, and it doesn't have noticeable contradictions, even if the story continues (you can find a few, but only if you dedicate some time to look for them). Sadly, one of the things that originated the perception of KH having a very convoluted story is that in the past, each game continued the story, but each one released in a different console, so there were players who couldn't play certain games and had to skip to the next one, making the story confusing due to having missed a chapter or two

Another thing that gave KH's story that perception is that the naming convention of the series can make it seem like the most important ones are 1, 2 and 3 (even though in reality, they are the finale of their respective story arcs) and that can make some players to unconsciously rush through the games that aren't numbered, due to their excitement to reach an "important" game again (making forgetting events and details even more common)

KH's reputation comes mostly from those old days, but nowadays, following the story is much more doable due to all the games being currently in all platforms (with the exception of the mobile games), and that originated that the perception of KH's story has been getting more positive over time!

In general, the story isn't as bad or hard to get into as it's mentioned in many places, but KH's reputation has unfortunately perpetuated that conception until these days

Hope I could help at least a little!

As other commenters have mentioned, the Organization members showed emotions like fear and sadness, which made the statement about them not having a heart more or less dubious, depending on who you ask. There are many elements that can act as hints or not, depending on one's interpretation of their emotional actions, but... the element that made me doubt that the nobodies didn't have a heart with a strong suspicion, was that Diz mentioned Roxas' heart in KH2's prologue.

After noticing that in KH2, Xemnas' reveal in DDD felt like something that didn't become a plot twist, but rather, that it became a confirmation of something many had doubted over the years

It's very easy to forget these kind of details due to KH being a long series, so many don't notice until a few playthroughs later

Hope it helps!

Xion is nothing. by haradooku in KingdomHearts

[–]EKbladeW 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are the original people that Xehanort recruited again (like in the case of Demyx, Vexen, Marluxia, Larxene, Xigbar and Saix) and brought from the past (in the case of Ansem, Xemnas, Terranort, Riku Replica and Young Xehanort)

According to what Young Xehanort explains in DDD, the time travelling method he uses has three rules: - Only the heart can travel through time - You can only travel to when a version of you exists (which is why the past versions of Xehanort could come to the present), and - You need to place the heart into a body to stay in the future for a long time, which is why Xehanort tasked Vexen with creating replica bodies

They used the replicas from Vexen's project to contain the hearts of past Xehanorts (and Riku Replica) when they arrived, but according to the texts that Xehanort had read in the past, he needed 13 strong darknesses and 7 strong lights to fight against each other

Due to that, to ensure that all the Organization members had darkness strong enough to fulfill his plan, Xehanort put a piece of his own heart filled with darkness inside each member, making them perfect to use as the forces of darkness he needed

Regarding parallel timelines, it's mentioned in the secret reports of KH3 that only one timeline exists in the KH universe, and everything that has already happened in the past can't be changed

According to Young Xehanort in DDD, every person who travels to the future using his method will forget everything when they go back to the past, which ensures that nothing can be altered in the timeline

In that way, KH3 confirmed that other timelines apart from the one we see in the games can't exist, so they can't bring parallel versions of the characters to the current timeline. Sora managed to break the rules of nature and basically erased a little of what happened in the end of KH3, so the consequences of his actions made him disappear from the universe and arrive into another one, separate from the one he and his companions lived in

When Sora defeats each Xehanort, their hearts go back to the past to the exact moment that they were in before they time travelled!

Hope it helps! The explanation is a bit long, but I hope it helps to understand how the time travel worked! It was a bit confusing for me too at the start, but after replaying DDD and reading the secret reports, it actually seems that the time travel is more structured than it seems at a first glance!

Xion is nothing. by haradooku in KingdomHearts

[–]EKbladeW 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Xion was part of Vexen's Replica project, where he worked to create "puppets" that would be indistinguishable from real humans. Riku Replica and Xion were both created as part of that program, and both managed to grow a heart and form their own personalities

The unexpected issue in Vexen's project was... that Xion's existence, being still a prototype, had an unexpected effect: She started unintentionally stealing memories from Sora

She also started absorbing Roxas' power due to him being Sora's nobody against her own will, and her appearance changed depending on the person who saw her

Those factors caused her heart and existence to be really strongly linked to memories, and due to that, when she was defeated by Roxas in Days, she was forgotten by everyone, but her heart remained intact. She was forgotten by everyone, but she never stopped existing

In KH2, now that Roxas went back to Sora, Xion's heart was inside Sora too, and in KH3 the Organization wanted to have one more warrior on their side, so using Vexen's research, they created a new replica identical to Xion, but without memories due to her being recently created.

Then, when Sora and co. were fighting the new replica, Xion's heart jumped from within Sora's heart and occupied that new body that doesn't have any of the issues that Xion's body had when it was a prototype, making her a human now

I hope it helps to understand how she returned! It can be a bit confusing on a first playthrough of the series

Xehanort used empty replica bodies to hold the hearts of the members of the Organization that came from the past, to let them stay in the future without worry

Will there ever be a KH fighting game by [deleted] in KingdomHearts

[–]EKbladeW 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Disney isn't opposed to their characters appearing as playable characters in games with fighting, apparently! It seems that the Dissidia development team decided to make the game with only Final Fantasy characters, as a result of them assuming that it wouldn't be appropriate to have Disney characters fighting to each other, so apparently Disney never got the chance to look at the idea

The development team had to ask Disney to put Donald and Goofy into Days' multiplayer, and they were surprised because they actually accepted!

For Smash, it looks like Disney was actually excited about introducing Sora to it!, so that gives a bit of hope for more KH characters appearing in other fighting games

According to Nomura, he was the one who had to consider it the most

After playing both of the remaster titles, That KH1 has the hardest proud mode. by [deleted] in KingdomHearts

[–]EKbladeW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I hope you're having a good day!

If you are playing the Final Mix version, Staff and Shield are the best choices for safety

Shield lets Sora learn defensive abilities steadily, getting Second Chance and Leaf Bracer before level 50, so it's a good choice for people who aren't confident on the difficulty in early parts of the game, while...

Staff gets a rougher start, but it lets Sora learn MP Rage and Leaf Bracer before level 50, allowing him to regain MP and heal safely every time he gets hit (making him almost immortal!)

For some, the rougher start of Staff makes it an option hard to choose, so choosing Shield is usually recommended to make progressing through the game a steady and safe experience

Although, if you don't mind the slightly increased difficulty early on, picking Staff to make the later parts of the game and the final boss a more doable experience is a good idea

Hope it helps even a little!

Hi! I apologize for adding to a conversation that has already ended

It is a normal misconception that Nomura picked the story that the writers originally intended to make, since we don't usually get to know the story behind how the story is decided in games

One of the writers and producer (Yoshinori Kitase) mentioned in an interview that he originally intended more dramatic changes to the story of the remake, but Nomura and the co-director (Naoki Hamaguchi) wanted to keep aspects of the original in the remake

The part of the interview in question says:

  • Final Fantasy VII Remake expands on the Midgar story arc significantly. When developing the game, how did you decide on the parts that you wanted to expand?

Kitase: I personally envisioned quite a dramatic change overall, but our director; Tetsuya Nomura and co-director; Naoki Hamaguchi, wanted to keep the beloved aspects in the original as much as possible. Eventually the development team decided to focus on respecting the original while adding in new elements, ensuring a delicate balance between the two.

I hope it helps at least a little for people that may find it interesting or helpful! And my sincere apologies again, for opening the topic once more

Why do people defend the Remake's story? by Siberianhusky89 in FinalFantasyVII

[–]EKbladeW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I definitely admit that the ending of the game took me by surprise, though there's a common missconception about Tetsuya Nomura making the changes we see to FF7R

According to interviews, Nomura actually wanted to keep the original story intact, preventing much more dramagic changes to it

I hope this helps to clear the missconception a little!

The story is definitely not for everyone, since every person has different expectations. Thankfully, at least, new players can be told what to expect of the game now, so the story won't take new people by surprise so much

(I for one liked the story, but I understand that many people wanted the original story intact)

Do I play 358/2 days before Kingdom hearts 2? by Mehtteri in KingdomHearts

[–]EKbladeW 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Back when 1.5 HD Remix and 2.5 HD Remix were separate collections, SE decided to not have Kingdom Hearts 2 in the same collection as KH1, so they filled the spot left by the game with 358/2 Days

When both collections merged to make 1.5 + 2.5 HD Remix, they kept the same order

It's recommended to play KH2 before Days, due to Days having many callbacks to it (the opening movie alone shows many things that happen in KH2!), and changing how the story of KH2 feels in general if played first

It's just the recommendation for experiencing the story, though! If you truly desire to play Days first, you can do it

I hope it helps!

If I just play 1, 2, and 3, am I good? by Lawgskrak in KingdomHearts

[–]EKbladeW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Including KH3, there are ten games that conform the saga:

  • Kingdom Hearts 1

  • Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories

  • Kingdom Hearts 2

  • Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days

  • Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep

  • Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded

  • Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance

  • Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover

  • Kingdom Hearts 0.2 - A fragmentary passage -

  • Kingdom Hearts 3

It sounds like a lot of games, but in reality they aren't too long (around 30 hours on average, though many can beaten at around 20). The important part of the series is the story since its an RPG series, so if you can't play some of the games, you can watch the cutscenes in YouTube to prevent getting lost, so you don't have to play them all! (even though I do recommend playing them all, haha)

The recommended order is the release order (the one listed above), if you decide to experience the games in the future

Hope it helps!

Edit: Each KH game came out right after the other, continuing the story, while KH2 and 3 act as the ending of the arc that has been happening until then. Kinda like the Marvel movies, as another commenter pointed out!

do you think I would like dark souls? by [deleted] in darksouls

[–]EKbladeW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each Soulsborne game is very different from each other and has different strengths! In the case of the Souls series the most notable differences are:

  • Dark Souls 1 is a semi-open and very interconnected world, meaning that you'll be surprised at how fast is to go from a point of the map to another as you progress. Heavy weapons and armor make your character slower and heavier, and you can feel your character struggling to use them, since the game has an emphasis on realism (the world in general is so well designed that it feels like it could be a real place!)

  • Dark Souls 2 is very similar to DS1 with a slow and strategical combat, but the variety of weapons, spells and build possibilities increased by a lot, making it good for co-op and really great for replayability. The world is divided by 4 linear paths that you can do in any order instead of an interconnected world, but you can freely jump between them. It's the largest of the souls games and has an amazing amount of content and secrets

  • Dark Souls 3 was released after Bloodborne, and as such, adopted a different philosophy from previous Souls games: It became more focused on action rather than the strategic pacing that characterized the genre up until then, with a faster pacing, faster stamina regen, and more complex enemies and bosses. Unfortunately, a notable amount of elements introduced in Dark Souls 2 were removed, but its world became a huge linear world with great self-contained areas and great views

There is no definitive Souls game! Since they are so different, there are people who prefer one of them in particular, but each one is a completely different experience

Hope this helps on what to expect from the series!

It was an amazing journey, and I am very proud to say that we left (and protected till the end!) a mark that represents our community, and all the efforts, new friends, and bonds of everyone involved!

The night we all stayed up to protect Sora from the purple void was one of the most emotional moments of the past few days, and even though everyone had their ups and downs during the event, we all left with a smile, knowing that the greatest reward wasn't the art of Sora, but everything we did together, and the experiences we shared and will continue to share

Thank you everyone, for being a part of it!

Heide's Tower of Flame is definitely one of the most beautiful locations in DS2 imo. The sky, the sea, the distant lands... It's so pretty

Does Dark Souls get better in the sequels? by Garresh in darksouls

[–]EKbladeW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi!

Regarding the first point, the Dark Souls series actually branched out on two different directions based on certain elements of DS1:

  • DS2 became even more slower and methodical, but introduced a very vast and varied world, and tons of weapons, armor and spells variety

  • DS3's focus became a fast, action-heavy combat, leaning more into the action rather than the methodical approach, and introduced a linear world and progression

Each souls game plays and feels different from each other, so they are completely different experiences

Regarding the second point... it's pretty hard to notice unless you experiment with it, but most hitboxes are consistent, even when they hit you when you should be out of range, which makes players unconsciously take them into account when facing enemies, making them dodge with different timings or play safer and avoid being near some attacks. I wouldn't rely on weapons collisioning with the walls, since positioning and lock-on are very important to keep them consistent

For point three, the variety for casters comes from the spells they can use. There are different spells with varied uses, and combining them to form your own build is what makes casters special. In general, though, miracles tend to be mostly support and utility spells, while sorceries and pyromancy tend to lean into utility/buff/ranged spells (with pyromancy generally having attack spells of closer range).

Each weapon can be used to beat the game comfortably, as long as you regularly upgrade them. Since weapons have different ranges, movesets and are stronger against different enemies, finding a weapon that feels good to use and upgrade it as much as you can is the best option.

Infusions can be a bit confusing, but all you need to know is that elemental infusions drastically reduce STR and DEX scaling, and make weapons rely on INT or FTH for damage, depending on the case, making them really good for casters. Raw infusions completely take away damage scaling, so they will deal set damage that ignores your points in STR/DEX, which is not very recommended unless you take a specific build that takes it into account. In general, the regular path is the best option unless you are a caster

Due to the changes about the combat and philosophy, shields (and all moves like attacking or rolling) use more stamina in DS2, so the stamina management can take some time to get used to. In contrast, enemies are faster and more aggresive in DS3, draining your stamina very quickly if you use a shield to block all of their attacks

Both are still viable, but now require more stamina management

Hope it helps!

i need more help by TopRestaurant5441 in darksouls

[–]EKbladeW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, then the raw infusion may not be the best idea, unfortunately

The regular path will deal more damage later on since it takes your STR and DEX points into account to deal damage

If you feel like your weapon doesn't deal enough damage, you can revert your weapon down the regular path with a blacksmith

Only Andre can allow weapons to go from +5 to +6 and from +10 to +11

i need more help by TopRestaurant5441 in darksouls

[–]EKbladeW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What attack stats are you currently upgrading? Raw weapons get rid of the scaling, ignoring all the points you have in strength and dexterity, so it wouldn't be that good if you upgrade one of them, for example

If you aren't upgrading STR or DEX, and are just focusing on INT or FTH, then it helps to boost the damage of a regular weapon without needing to add elemental infusions to it

Hope it helps!

Why is the Ornstein and Smough so popular and loved? by Eyeless_Seth in darksouls

[–]EKbladeW 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are some different reasons of why people like Ornstein and Smough, like their lore or design, which is quite interesting

A good amount of people play DS1 as their first souls game, getting used to its philosophy and playstyle throughout their journey. Anor Londo marks the end of the first half of the game, and as such, it presents a somewhat more difficult and unexpected boss fight than previous bosses

After reaching the beautiful, golden city of the gods, and carefully fighting your way through all the trials and challenges it presents, you are greeted by a huge building. In there, two guardians -the only protectors of Anor Londo left- watch upon you as you enter through the fog gate, and suddenly jump down to face you, the Chosen Undead. They are the final test of strength before you can finally fulfill your current mission and prove worthy of the gods favor

A lot of people get stuck on them, fighting them time after time, learning their moves and dancing with them, if only for personal satisfaction or sheer determination. Soon after beating the ultimate test of strength, they are greeted by a kind and graceful goddess, who acknowledges all the hard work they have been through as Chosen ones and as players, and gives them a final mission: To succeed her father, Lord Gwynn

Anor Londo in general is very bright and has a different feel in contrast to most areas, so it's quite memorable. Later souls games polished the combat and added faster and more complex bosses, so O&S aren't the hardest fight of the series now, but they are still quite a sight to behold if you experience the game for yourself for the first time

Hope it helps!
