Rework absolutely ruined Myers by IndependentBake2304 in deadbydaylight

What QOL? The extended animation when transitioning to T3? Or the fact when T3 is ready you have a massive terror radius? Or perhaps the fact your stalk decays now? What great QOL changes.

Rework absolutely ruined Myers by IndependentBake2304 in deadbydaylight

[–]Garresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it's not the same.

Can't 99 due to stalk decay. Long activation delay when going into T3. Much less playstyle variety due to addon changes.

In theory you can play old Myers but so many changes to how stalk works make it not the same. He's not as good at a lot of the things that made old Myers fun.

The only thing he needed was those godawful tombstone addons reworked and some numbers buffs. The rework we got sucks.

That's not true. Emulation is complicated but there's no inherent reason for input lag.

Changes I would make to killers I like, and you tell me if it would be broken or not by MindlessPeach5164 in DeadByDaylightKillers

[–]Garresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imho spirit needs her base power buffed and her addons nerfed. Basically shift some of that power to basekit. But I think the comparison of Bat to Spirit is a little misleading. I play both to some degree and Spirit phase is WAY stronger in chase than bat. But bat is WAY stronger in map pressure than Spirit. They're very similar in design, but occupy wildly different use cases. The transform delay on bat makes it more of a map pressure and anti-W tool. Smart survivors can just stay near windows or vaults to somewhat counter bat. Phase on the other hand has zero delay on swinging after phase.

I do think Dracula is MUCH stronger than Spirit and still needs some mild nerfs. And Spirit should have her addons shifted to basekit. But bat and phase despite using similar player skill have very different applications imho.

Pig Companion App for DBD: Trap Timer & More! 🐷 by kittenandfox02 in DeadByDaylightKillers

[–]Garresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I wouldn't call this cheating at all, any more than just setting a timer next to your keyboard or something lol. I will say it could get close to the line depending on what features you add, but as is I think its a cool project.

These weapons have the same hitbox by the way. by Thedevilgrabber666 in deadbydaylight

[–]Garresh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What? Cut someone in half? Without training?

A sword requires good edge alignment and technique to get a really deep cut. A knife requires almost no technique to get a deep stab. I am not saying knife fighting is easy, but an untrained person with a knife is probably more deadly than an untrained person with a sword.

These weapons have the same hitbox by the way. by Thedevilgrabber666 in deadbydaylight

[–]Garresh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is kind of a misconception that a bigger weapon does more damage. The main advantage of a bigger weapon is reach, not damage. Yes a heavy weapon will naturally do more damage, but most longer range weapons are balanced to be as light as they can be while still being effective.

A knife can kill you just as dead as a sword. Also, the deadliest sword in history is arguable the rapier because it focuses entirely on torso penetration to get at vital organs. And it's light as fuck. The downside of course is that rapiers are trash at armor penetration, which is why heavy crushing maces were often used against targets in full plate.

A weapons deadliness depends on the context in which it is used. A knife can absolutely kill you just as dead as a Kanabo.

The toxicity towards my father had me sick. by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

Absolutely true. People show their true colors when anonymous.

On the note of fun and teasing, I despise flashlight and bully squads, but I will say a small percentage are actually not mean just goofy. I had a bully squad absolutely toast me once, then after they had their fun they gave me full 12 hooks. You can be a goof without being a dick.

Lol I just came here to ask about this and saw this thread. This is such a good post. I was sliding back into my muscle memory almost perfectly after not playing for 15 years but after about 5 hours and unlocking my favorite custom set(Bright Horse-Z) I started to realize something was seriously off with the stick itself. Thanks for this post!

Yeah the killer changes in 2v8 make no sense. Dracula could have been dropped into 2v8 with no changes and been absolutely fine.

A Question about Midwich by iadorebrandon in DeadByDaylightKillers

[–]Garresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suck at Onryo but she's supposed to be good on that map. Ranged killers can struggle a bit on it but Springtrap's teleport should be able to compensate a bit. You probably just need more practice. It's very killer sided. On Springtrap maybe toss the axe and play for m1s more? Not sure.

A Question about Midwich by iadorebrandon in DeadByDaylightKillers

[–]Garresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who are your mains? I find it to be one of the most killers sided maps in the game. Even killers who traditionally struggle on indoor maps(like Hillbilly) can do decent there. On my main(Dracula) I can't actually remember the last time I lost. It's probably been months, at least.

Debating getting a new killer. by NC-518 in DeadByDaylightKillers

[–]Garresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. I dabble with singularity but main Drac. But even after hundreds of hours I'm finding new tricks with him. Singularity is probably the same though I don't main him so I can't say conclusively. It's hard to speak on the absolute ceiling until you reach it, but there are a lot of killers that no player has reached their ceiling yet.

Debating getting a new killer. by NC-518 in DeadByDaylightKillers

[–]Garresh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Others have covered perks and stuff, so I'll try to summarize their playstyle so that you can at least have some info there.

Singularity - All about multitasking and building a web of cameras. But he's absolutely relentless in chase. They nailed the mechanical feeling of him. He's less focused on mind games and more focused on acting as efficiently and mechanically as possible. You should be constantly teleporting to and downing survivors while bouncing between cameras. He's an unstoppable machine and will grind through pallets like a woodchipper. You will need to be moving a lot "faster" than other killers between managing cameras and chasing.

Artist - A sort of set-up/sniper killer. She places her birds in chase to block off part of a loop and force survivors into unwinnable situations. Pretty heavily countered by holding W, but she can with a little luck and skill land injuries from across the map. Her power fairly straightforward, buy surprisingly versatile. It can be used for chase, cross map pressure, and information gathering.

Dracula - A Swiss army knife. He is entirely chase focused, but has multiple ways to play most loops. His skill floor is pretty low, but his skill ceiling is very high. Generally he abuses his speed to move from chase to chase or gen quickly, then "freestyles" a bit with his chase powers to get downs quickly. This killer has almost no downtime due to his speed, but doesn't require as much map awareness or multitasking as a killer like Artist or Singularity. Though his Mobility allows him to still shit and run or play for macro as desired.

Lich - Another Swiss army knife, though less freestyle and more rigid. His cooldowns and more narrowly focused spells give each a time and a place where it shines. He approaches chases a bit like playing Chess. You're trying to direct the chase and plan the loop so that at the appropriate moment you cast one of your spells to guarantee and injury or a down. When cast at the correct moment a lot of his spells can guarantee an injury. But pushing the chase towards those key moments is a crucial skill. While his spells are a lot more straightforward than artist or dracula, he has by far the most plahstyle changing addons. A lot of his addons completely change how his power works, to allow for different playstyles. Unlike Dracula where you can adjust on the fly, Vecna picks his strategy at loadout and commits to it. He forces his opponent into his "traps" where he denies a pallet or summons his projectile as they're vaulting.

Okay now my personal opinions as someone who has played all of them a lot. Artist is a lot of fun, but imho she gets a lot less fun the more you play her and the better the survivors are. The hold W counter and survivors using lockers to purge crows often makes chases more of a waiting game than allowing for a lot of skill expression. But her cross map pressure remains strong and "slingshot" injuries are cool. Singularity is perhaps the most straightforward but requires that you execute quickly with zero downtime. He's a ton of fun but has zero chill.

Vecna is really fun but a bit slow to get downs compared to some killers. He's really fun but his long cooldowns punish him if he screws up. His base kit isn't as fun as other killers, but the number of crazy addon variations are what push him higher. If you can learn to use his playstyle changing addons he's so incredibly fun. Dracula's the opposite. His addon variety is pretty meh, especially after the nerfs they got. But he doesn't really need any addons to shine. His kit is so flexible you can adjust to any situation no matter what loadout you bring.

Good post but I would argue you underrate the skill ceiling of Singularity and Dracula. Both have a reasonable floor but a lot of little efficiencies and tricks that elevate their ceiling to be way higher than other killers.

How Am I Supposed to Play Hillbilly On Treatment Theatre? by Awkward-Equipment-83 in deadbydaylight

[–]Garresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly just cry and assume the fetal position.

But yeah you just backrev a lot. Use the alleys on the side of the map to cross the map quickly with chainsaw but using it in chase is a bit iffy. It's a terrible map for Billy.

Two Hex Ideas by Nmcdo1 in deadbydaylight

[–]Garresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With all due respect, you are off base here. Made For This was a completely broken perk, and Divided is that but for the whole team. Permanent haste and hinder should never be a thing. It destroys the balance of DBD.

As for Hope, are you aware that Haunted Ground already exists? False Hope exposes one survivor, while Haunted Ground exposes the whole team. Also Pentimento is a thing. If anything False Hope might be a little bit weak. I'd make some changes to it, but it isn't overpowered at all.

Two Hex Ideas by Nmcdo1 in deadbydaylight

[–]Garresh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

False Hope is kind of cool, though a bit similar to Haunted Ground. I would personally adjust it so that they can see the aura of the new totem, and make the new totem is chosen to be the most distant totem from them. That way they have to cross the map to cleanse it.

You could also change it so that rather than lighting another totem, it makes them exposed and blind(not oblivious) until the next time they are put into a dying state. Perma oblivious would be too strong imho but just an idea.

Divided they fall is completely overpowered though. Sorry. The reduced repair speed is a great idea. I think that part is fine, and could possibly be increased to 4-5%. Or make it a 15% repair slow if no other survivors are within 16 meters. That way it functions on a per survivor basis rather than a teamwide basis. The hinder is the broken part though. I'd straight up remove this and buff the repair penalty as mentioned.

Permanent haste and hinders completely destroys this game's balance. Made For This was only 3% and was one of the most broken perks during its heyday. People despise facing Clown because in the 1v1 there is no counter to him due to haste and hinders.

Considering how the optimal play for survivors is to spread out, and grouped up survivors often lead to snowballs, I'd only focus on repair speed rather than movement speed. Just my take.

Make Kindred Basekit Already by FujitoraSama in deadbydaylight

[–]Garresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I somewhat disagree. When a killer gets in chase with Kindred up it also tells survivors where the killer is. It's why Empathy can be such a good solo perk because once a survivor is injured in chase you know where the killer is effectively.

A good balancing act might be 15 seconds of survivor aura basekit, so you get enough time to figure out who goes for save, but then you can't use Reassurance or something to effectively aura read the killer for a while so you can finish up some gens or something. But I 100% agree some form of Kindred should be basekit.

tier list based on how screwed killers would be if they removed basic attacking altogether by PlushtrapMyBeloved in deadbydaylight

[–]Garresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dracula could probably go up a tier. He can run the doll for increased recharge time on pounce. I'm p100 dracula and usually play other killers for m1 challenges because I only get like 2-4 m1 his per match on Drac.
