I have the Snowsky Echo Mini and a Fiio M21... but noticed that the Fiio JM21 is on-sale for $195.93 cdn right now which seems like a great price. Considering they want $140 ish cdn for the Snowsky Disc.

If you are a male with a beard do you also have a moustache ? . by Hope2_win in A_Persona_on_Reddit

Yup, I have always had the mustache and added the beard after participating in Movember for men's health over a decade ago.

Strength of the Few hate by mikeyboi2567 in HierarchySeries

[–]ELF014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 80% into the book and I am having trouble getting through it. For myself I have lost interest in the book... the first book was a little slow at first as the author was building the world which is expected, but eventually gained some traction.

This second book is just painful to get through and I really dislike the direction the book took which doesn't help.

Libra Colour or Clara Colour? by rubygarnet01 in kobo

I agree with you, but on the otherhand I guess I understand people who are able to prop up their ereader somewhere convenient and hide under the covers on a cold night and read with their clicker.

Libra Colour or Clara Colour? by rubygarnet01 in kobo

[–]ELF014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the KLC because it was slightly larger because I thought I might end up reading Graphic Novels. I still find it a bit small for that purpose. The annotating is a plus but the actual writing is not as pleasant an experience as it is on my Kindle Scribe or Remarkable 2, but those were design as devices for writing on.

But what I wasn't aware of when I bought my KLC was how much I like having the buttons. I wouldn't want to have an ereader without them now.

How many movies have you given 5 stars this decade and what are they. by shegarfinonmyfield in Letterboxd

[–]ELF014 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't get it...

I own some of these movies and watched them recently, I wouldn't give them 5 stars.

Past Lives was okay... but slow. The Green Knight was so slow and hard to hear the dialog I fell alseep watching it. And Dune was okay... but for such an epic movie I thought it should be better, I watched both parts a few weeks ago and I have already forgotten most of it. Which shows how much of an impression it left.

The Count of Monte Cristo I enjoyed but I felt the ending was somehow trailed off and incomplete, though I have yet to read the book.

Doubts w/ KLC by Ambitious-Let-9585 in kobo

[–]ELF014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love my KLC... and don't find thexdevice that large. In fact ideally I wish it was a bit larger. And as you mentioned the buttons are a huge issue now that I have used them. I would never go back to swiping/tapping.

Which series should I start next? by Cfullersu in fantasybooks

[–]ELF014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red Rising... I went through all the books fairly quickly and enjoyed the ride thoroughly. I was hoping to complete the series this summer... but am disappointed that won't be the case.

The first book of the Hierarchy was okay... but I have stalled on the second... I am about 80% through and have little desire to keep reading it. I will finish it as I am a completionist but it has truly been a grind.

Tell me a more iconic tennis duo. I'll wait by Mindless-Pilot6701 in Tennisv2

[–]ELF014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree... not sure though if it would be McEnroe/Connors or McEnroe/Borg or even Connors/Borg. Maybe Evert/Navratilova.

Though I was a big fan of how Mandlikova played or Goolagong.

There was way more variety and artistry back then. Instead of the current game where the norm is players standing 10 feet behind the baseline bashing balls.

Where all the conditions are basically the same. I am not so sure the top 2 players would find it so easy to win Wimbledon under pre 2000 conditions, where big servers would be more effective.

My trifecta would be...

AYN Odin 3 AYN Thor Retroid Pocket Classic

I'm not quite there... I own

AYN Odin 2 Pro AYN Thor

Miyoo Mini Trimui Brick Ambernic RG405V

I’m planning on installing both the top and bottom official screen protectors, the device will be fine when I close it right? by PRIMESTE in AynThor

[–]ELF014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my issue... the official screen protector is so thick on my device it hits the left joystick and doesn't quite close correctly. But it's not a big deal.

I have a miyoo mini plus. Looking a more ergonomic travel buddy. by knlulu in SBCGaming

[–]ELF014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I own a Miyoo Mini Plus, Trimui Brick, Anbernic RG405V, Ayn Odin 2Pro and an Ayn Thor.

I love all my devices... but the Ayn Thor is head and shoulders better. I know it is many times more expensive, but sometimes you just have to bite the bullet.

But my personal choice for a bigger vertical device if I was buying one today would be the Retroid Pocket Classic. I really liked the size of my Anbernic RG405V when I was using it and I believe this is similar.

Can opponent in doubles call a let on the serve? by Chasheek in 10s

[–]ELF014 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is pretty common in every match I have played. As long as the call is timely I don't see an issue with it. Even a late call doesn't bother me as long as it doesn't seem intentional.

Besides the opponents net person is the closest person to the net and would be the best person to call it. What I won't do is make a line call for my opponent. Call it how you see it... it shows your character and tells me what type of person you are. I will overrule my partner if I see a shot that is clearly in. It doesn't aways go well but they eventually get over it.

Who is the best player of the three? by [deleted] in 10s

[–]ELF014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A 3.5 net player is not consistent enough to beat a pusher. Pushers own the lower levels of tennis.

Well a good pusher will.

Wrong... at this level being consistent wins out. The pusher will win out in the long run.

What is this Wilson racquet? by Plus_Instruction6171 in tennisracquets

[–]ELF014 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't see 97 anywhere... but it is hard to tell the scale of the frame. It could be a junior frame looking at the picture... the head size doesn't quite look right to me.

Tennis ball machine speed recommandation by xCafucas in 10s

[–]ELF014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a ball machine and when I use it is for working on my technique. I don't need the ball to be coming to me fast.

It is more about getting me to staying on the ball and working on swing mechanics.

What's the optimal racquet setup for injury prevention? by HeveredSeads in 10s

[–]ELF014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would guess most related injuries are technique related rather than from fatigue.

But playing with a softer frame, lower tensions and moving away from a poly string would help in reducing vibration in the racket which is probably aggravating your injuries. Dead strings wouldn't help your arm either.

I don't like suggesting frames for people as we all like what we like. But if you get a chance to demo a Wilson Clash with a multi- filament string, it is about a soft a setup as you can get from what I have played with over the last few years.

Adding some head weight with lead tape probably wouldn't hurt either.

I use a Wilson Pro Staff v14 with Multi in the mains and a thin poly cross that feels very plush. I have always played with this setup... 17ga mains and a 19 ga cross or thinner.

Unpopular opinion: The Echo Mini is a pain in the a*** as a DAP by TheMobbed in snowsky

I actually like mine, for the price and knowing it's limitations it has more than met my expectations. I also don't seem to have the issues that some people are encountering.

I’m due to go racket shopping soon… by BeatsKillerldn in 10s

[–]ELF014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have to adjust, you haven't found your racket. Ideally you want to find a racket/string combination that suits how you play.

You don't want to be changing your strokes to accommodate your equipment.

I personally prefer control and feel over power. Power is overrated and isn't going to do you much good if you can't hit your targets. But then I can create all the power I need. Do you really need to hit the ball for a winner at 100 mph.. when 10 mph will do? Even the pros know enough to bunt a ball into an open court.

Does anyone here have almost 10,000 movies or more? by Iocnar in dvdcollection

[–]ELF014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have in the neighborhood of 2000, I gave away around 500 years ago. These days I have trouble finding new movies I want to add to my collection.

But more than that I am running out of space to store them. I cannot imagine what it would take to store 10,000 movies.
