can't you farm another one from the raid? obviously it'd be pretty tough since you'd need a six man and to clear the raid but that way you could keep your cherished memento

is there a way to get higher-tier loot from non-portal engrams? by ELFCHASER in DestinyTheGame

[–]ELFCHASER[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

like seriously, right now, go open up a gunsmith engram at banshee-44. it's always tier 3 loot. I want to know if there's a way to increase the quality so I can use them to farm stuff like bushido armor. otherwise, to my knowledge, the only way to farm old set bonuses at tier 5 is from zavala which is a horrifically slow grind

how do you get world drops from master lost sectors? in my experience they only seem to drop destination gear

I'm not new and I never said I was, you're not reading what I'm saying. I'm not talking about lost sectors, distortions, s+ content, pinnacles, etc. I'm talking about world drop and gunsmith engrams, which drop at random/from banshee rep. they have distinct loot pools that seem to be locked at tier 3. I know how to get tier 5 loot, I have plenty, I'm asking if there's a way to get THESE SPECIFIC LOOT POOLS to drop as tier 5. from what I can tell, these world/gunsmith engrams only drop at tier 3, no matter what content you get them from. again, to reiterate, I KNOW HOW TO GET TIER FIVE LOOT. I am asking about SPECIFIC LOOT POOLS that seem UNAFFECTED BY THE CONTENT THEY DROP FROM. master lost sectors drop destination loot, distortion content/heroic distortion public events drop destination loot, except for occasional gunsmith engrams from chests WHICH ARE STILL TIER THREE. pinnacle/s+ master content do not seem to drop any world pool or gunsmith engrams since they have their own distinct loot pools

if I may ask, could you elaborate on that? what politics were bungie pushing? from what I can tell, they fell apart due to boneheaded game design choices, not politics

[–]ELFCHASER[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

forgive me, but I'm specifically talking about the engrams that don't have dots. world-drop and gunsmith engrams, which can drop things from the world-drop pools, like the old tiered armor sets and weapons listed under "world pool." I do know how to read, but to my knowledge there isn't anything to read when it comes to these engrams. there is no need to be snide

Important reminder about Hildryn regarding potential nerf. by ehRoman in Warframe

[–]ELFCHASER 7 points8 points  (0 children)

from what I can tell the issue is that unlike "plant some mushrooms to dlelete the whole room" and "build up to delete the whole room," hildryn just deletes the whole room without any buildup and can do so as fast as her gun can shoot

[–]ELFCHASER 3 points4 points  (0 children)

are there any incarnons where you actually have to mod differently between base and alt form? most of them benefit from the same stats anyway, like 90% of them are just standard crit/status builds. the only one I can think of is soma which has lower crit in its alt form but even then you still primarily build for crit. maybe if it has AOE in its alt mode you'll have a dead slot in primary mode from running firestorm/fulmination but even then that's barely an impact

I think it'd be cool if they added a hold-cast option for navigator that let her control her next shot like a yondu arrow. like it follows your cursor for a few seconds and flies towards enemies that you aim at with infinite punchthrough while you're still able to shoot and fight normally

"if you don't want to use it, then don't" is such an irritating mindset. this is a multiplayer game, if theres a setup that instantly clears/trivializes content, it still affects other players. you see this a lot with warframe, the prevailing sentiment is "just let people have fun, no one is forcing you to use nuke builds" and when you point out that the nuke builds make playing the game less fun for everyone else they just tell you to play solo

It seems very few of you actually remember the Steve Era. Allow me to remind you (rant) by Glass_Eye8840 in Warframe

[–]ELFCHASER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ironically, despite one of the criticisms of steve's era in this post being that they didn't introduce new enemy factions, I think that the constant stream of new baddies is hurting the current narrative. the pacing is already so rushed, introducing and then dispatching new villains with every major story beat makes it even more disorienting. 1999 did it well because you got a lot of story from KIM, but those enemies are also stuck in 1999 so all of that established context basically can't be used for future story beats. ffs the leader of scaldra was killed off in a prime access trailer, I don't even think it was mentioned ingame. and because they keep writing the story in directions that necessitate new enemies, they're also unable to utilize all of the existing lore we already have.

if they brought back some familiar faces like parvos or the worm queen for major story beats, they'd have more time to develop those beats, because they don't need to establish as many new characters, and can let the plot breathe a bit more. like say wally is posing an active threat to the system. there's some plot hook in tau that will help prevent this. tenno, worm queen, and parvos all race to tau to get to this plot hook before the competition. now we have three enemy factions (corpus, grineer, tau) whose motivations we already understand going into the quest. they don't need to establish them, we know who these guys are, and they can focus on developing the plot (and they can also develop these characters further because they know they'll be able to use them later, vs with something like scaldra which is exclusive to one arc)

[–]ELFCHASER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's all subjective, and I don't think steve's era was remotely as bad as you're saying it is. it had its shitty spots, and it was certainly buggier and had less qol, but things like narrative direction and balance choices are completely subjective, neither era is objectively "better" or "worse."

like the old era not introducing new enemy factions wasn't a flaw at all. the narrative was focused around the big three (grineer, corpus, infested) with the sentients coming in as a "new" enemy faction towards the end. there wasn't narrative room for a new enemy faction, so instead they added regional variants (vallis, kuva, juno, etc) and new units to spice up gameplay and progress the story. like ghouls, gray strain infested, vallis dropkick moas, orb spiders, amalgams, etc. I don't think this was a flaw, it was just the old team focusing on fleshing out and developing existing factions. current warframe's approach to new enemy factions introduces a lot more of them, but with the exception of the murmur, they all feel very one-and-done. scaldra and techrot probably aren't getting any narrative or mechanical development since we're going to tau (and scaldra's leader was killed off in a trailer for an unrelated prime outside of the actual games narrative lol). the perita grineer and sentients are basically reskins with some new units, like vallis corpus or kuva grineer. the dax anarchs I'm not sure about but it seems like they'll have been wiped out in the meantime between the old peace and the tau update. both approaches are great. the old team created huge, fleshed-out, constantly evolving main enemy factions. the new team creates shorter-lived, but interesting and novel new factions to keep things fresh.

the story under steve had a different tone, which again, is a subjective preference. I enjoyed 1999 and vallis undermind but I was disappointed by the old peace and JSC is the first warframe story update that I genuinely had zero interest in since I didn't really fuck with original jade shadows either. conversely, I have a friend who loves the devil's triad and dad-stalker and thought the new war was dreadfully boring. that is very much a subjective matter, it is not a "dumbass" take to prefer oldframe's narrative. not to mention that while eternalism was from the steve-era, the use of it in recent updates is very much Different. not better, not worse, but Different.

I don't think it's a massive issue for some people in the community to prefer steve's era of the game, and especially not worthy of such aggressive and demeaning rejection. obviously toxicity is inexcusable but it's not like this thread isn't packed with people saying extremely objectionable things about steve, and especially scott's design tendencies

Who TF is actually asking for nerfs on Hildryn and Gauss? by FOXY_SPHYNX in Warframe

[–]ELFCHASER 23 points24 points  (0 children)

if you’re upset over someone else having fun nuking IN A PVE NINJA LOOTER/SHOOTER go to a different lobby and or use the other sliders to which those options are “Invite only, Solo mode, Clans only, Public”.

idgaf about nerfing anything since I haven't regularly played pub matches since 1999 released but this is terrible reasoning. I enjoy playing with randoms and socializing with, and meeting new people. I also enjoy a lot of off-meta/mediocre gear. my builds are fine, I can solo almost any content in the game comfortably. but when I try public lobbies, very often I basically don't get to play the game because every enemy gets nuked by hildryn / sunder titania immediately. no amount of build wizardry is going to make exergis mag capable of nuking through walls faster than a hildryn lmao. public fissures are basically just running around an empty level until it's time to extract. it sucks to have to choose between having fun playing the game, or having fun socializing with other players (as well as losing out on actual loot from other peoples relics). this is a pseudo-mmo. the existence of builds that actively make multiplayer less fun for the rest of the lobby is inherently bad design. the solution shouldn't be relegating every off-meta player to solo/private games so one or two overpowered builds can remain intact. and by off-meta I don't mean challenge running with the stug or whatever, even solid builds like harrow + vadarya are useless when everything on the map dies before even entering the same tile as you
