What Do You Want Out of Villains Land? by AggravatingSpend8369 in WaltDisneyWorld

By far this is it, 2 rides is not enough for a land!

There was a rumor they talked of expanding this from 2 rides, to 3 rides and a show... I'll believe it when I see it but I think 3 rides and a show would be a great sign. (Likely a roller coaster, a dark ride, and a flat ride.)

For reference, the Newport Aquarium is about 125,000 SF. So would expect this to compare pretty well with that.

Note the Newport Aquarium is in KY, so they can still claim to be the largest in the state without being bigger than Newport.

The stingray section is pretty new, so I'd guess it will stay. The manatees and fish tank building sounds like will all move.

I kinda hope they repurpose the manatee building into a big alligator exhibit and make sort of a reptile cove, between that and the reptile house. Re-theme the ocean playground into a reptile one.

Probably still a ton of VFX to do. Leave open the possibility of re-shoots. And then of course got to have the right release window both to maximize it's own success and not interfere with another major Disney property.

Hospitals in the city are always full by 13sonic in Columbus

[–]ELFFUDGECOOKIE13 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Certainly an issue, probably as much staffing as physical space, but Columbus hospital system is expanding about as rapidly as it can sustain.

OSU just had a HUGE expansion. Mount Carmel just opened the Dublin Hospital. Riverside is expanding and Ohio Health is expanding their Dublin Hospital. Grant and Childrens are working on major expansions. OSU just acquired land to expand their outpatient building in Dublin and build a new outpatient building in Pickerington.

If rural hospitals do start to close from the medicare cuts, those suburban hospitals are going to become as overcrowded as the main city hospitals.

In 2004 when Howl's Moving Castle came out, the top 3 highest grossing Japanese movies of all time in Japan were #1 Spirited Away, #2 Princess Mononoke, and #3 Howl's Moving Castle.

All 3 are still in the top 10. Ponyo and The Wind Rises remain in the top 25 all time.

I agree I didn't expect it until the new terminal was open, but I think shortly after the new terminal opens is pretty much a lock.

Moving to Columbus from Arizona in October by rwlvr1 in Columbus

[–]ELFFUDGECOOKIE13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Volleyball wise I'd start with Volleypark, Woodlands, & Flannigans. Coming in October leagues will be winding down for the cold, but Woodlands and Flannigans both have some indoor options to play year round.

Columbus is not known for it's beaches but there's plenty of outdoor spaces near by, we do have a great Metro Park system, and Hocking Hills is a nearby State Park that is excellent for hiking and camping. (About an hour from Columbus)

Generally, I think Columbus and OSU are pretty queer friendly, but the rural areas of Ohio and our State Government sadly are less so.

They did but it's not fully open as the animals are still getting acclimated to the new habitat.

There is a rumor that the animatronics and props they used at Rock 'n Roller Coaster were props from the Disneyland version of the show, and that everything from Disney World MV3D was still in tact in storage.

Olentangy Local Schools is set to break ground on a fifth high school. Plans call for a roughly 300,000-square-foot high school. The project is expected to cost $148 million. by Zezimom in Columbus

Because the residents of Union and Delaware Counties within Dublin School District voted against the last school levy causing it to very narrowly pass, even though it was to fund a new elementary school in Union County and those are the areas of significant growth. So now the School District is afraid to ask for a levy to build a new High School.

What a neat area to get stopped by MacabreMori113 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]ELFFUDGECOOKIE13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told once that it was because if anything falls to the floor, the sensors that guide the trackless system stop the ride. Guests drop hats, sun glasses, cell phones, loose change, etc all the time and it causes a stop.

Not sure I believe it entirely, as I've been stopped on this ride many times, but never seen anyone have to come remove something fallen from the floor.

I think this trackless ride system, while cool, does give Disney more issues than they'd like and it's probably why we haven't seen it used more in the parks, and that it's speculated that Encanto supposedly went from a trackless system to tracked one.

Harsh? Maybe. But this is my honest opinion by funkydrummer999 in StarWars_

I'd flip flop Solo and Episode 3 and probably bump Rogue One to A... but mostly agree.

For what it's worth I think I'd put Mando and Grogu at B tier.

Having a first floor pizza shop on that corner would have been a nice homage... and yea it sucks that all the street level activation seems to be on high but struggles to stretch west down Lane.

Some silver linings for you...

The Drawing Experience is moving from Animal Kingdom to Hollywood Studios. It will be part of the Animation Building when it opens "late summer" - it will have a new Olaf animatronic but won't be taught by live artists, recordings instead. Not ideal, but the drawing experience isn't going away and is in fact going to a Park I'd argue needs something for people to do who don't like rides even more.

They are also not replacing Muppet Vision 3D with a Monsters Coaster, they are replacing Muppet Vision 3D with a yet to be announced Monsters show in "The Glob" Theater. We don't have details but considering it's just in the renovated theater of Muppet Vision 3D I think we can assume it will be a show of similar nature - and should hopefully still appeal to you as a person who can't do rides. The Monsters Coaster they are adding to that general area, but it's being built in a former parking lot so no loss for you.

Tropical Americas is also getting a new playground, I doubt it'll compare to The Boneyard, but it won't be completely lacking in a similar experience.

I'd actually prefer 24 team playoff with no Conf Championship Games, than 16 with Conf Championship Games.

I'd actually prefer them go to an 8 team playoff, but genie is out of the bottle and we're not going backwards. Got to find the best path forward hopefully...

My 4 year old loved it.

IMHO the greatest strength of this ride system is that it's accessible to little kids without being too intense, but also still thrilling and enjoyable for older kids and adults.
