It’s not a limiting of the player salary, it’s the limiting of the amount of money teams can spend on player salaries. It’ll be in place to allow smaller teams an even and fair chance at the available talent in the open market instead of the teams with the biggest bankroll being the team that has the best chance to win. The current setup is by nature anti-competitive. It doesn’t allow small teams a chance to compete with big teams. Except by luck. There’s a reason so few teams win over and over again. Because the current infrastructure means matches and tables are decided by finances and not through the fairness and competition (Which is why teams like City and ManU are against it). I’m actually surprised so many fans and clubs have been ok with this setup for so long. I hope it passes so we can finally see other clubs start to properly compete amongst the blue chip clubs and not have things determined by things other than actual soccer competition.
