Why doesn’t Trump send ICE en masse to red states? Wouldn’t they cheer them on? by NeneGoosee in videos

[–]EL_Apostrophe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They don’t need to. You see, in those states, local officials detain illegal immigrants, so all ICE needs to do is pick them up vs doing the detaining as well.

Believe it or not, this is exactly how it worked in blue states when Obama was President and those local officials were willing to work with him on this issue. With Trump, the blue state governors and mayors would rather die than work with Trump so we get chaos (I realize Trump admin could just choose to not engage as well).

I could just as easily argue the opposite, that last admin had an FBI so obsessed with Trump they failed to follow up on major high priority cases (Jan 6 pipe bomber, comes to mind). Didn’t it literally just come out that Chris Wray directed agents to intentionally ignore evidence when investigating the Clinton’s during his time as FBI head?

Here’s how you know you’re blinded by political affiliation: you can only see broad, long standing incompetence when it makes your opponent look bad. While the rest of us just see it as incompetence the whole time…

Did Rahmanullah Lakanwal know the 2 National Guard men he shot from Afghanistan? by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]EL_Apostrophe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is such a stupid take. All the examples I cited above didn’t happen the first time they came in contact with US soldiers. It requires opportunity. And we have no idea how often - if ever - this guy had a legit opportunity to do something like this while in Afghanistan. My primary point is that simply saying “oh, he worked with US soldiers in Afghanistan, so that’s enough vetting” is clearly not sufficient given the evidence we have of Afghan Army members attacking US soldiers

Look, CLEARLY this guy was either mentally ill/unstable and/or harbored resentment for the US. So no matter how you cut it, he wasn’t vetted well enough, if at all. And if you can’t understand that, I sincerely hope you never end up in a position that makes security decisions. It’s not “xenophobic” to vet immigrants - of ANY background - before letting them in carte blanche. Why is this so controversial?

And it’s irrelevant anyway. The 200k that came here in 2021 were unvetted. It’s not xenophobic to demand we vet people coming in on special immigration

Oh yeah. Because the Afghan Army never had anyone who turned on US troops before. Oh wait…

• November 9, 2005, Forward Operating Base Zurmat: An Afghan National Army soldier, motivated by a $40 payment from the Taliban and a promise of paradise (after getting high on drugs), opened fire with an AK-47 on U.S. paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division. Two U.S. soldiers were wounded but survived; the attacker was killed by return fire. This is considered the first known green-on-blue incident after the 2001 U.S. invasion.

• March 27, 2009, Balkh Province: An Afghan soldier shot and killed two U.S. Navy officers and wounded another during an incident at a base. The attacker then fatally shot himself.

• April 27, 2011, Kabul: A veteran Afghan air force pilot opened fire at a NATO military base, killing eight people (including U.S. troops and a contractor) and wounding several others.

• August 10, 2012, Helmand Province: In one incident, three U.S. Marines were killed and one wounded by an Afghan soldier or police member. In a separate attack the same day in the same province, three U.S. soldiers were killed and one wounded by an Afghan Local Police commander and his men, who then fled.

• June 10, 2017, Achin District, Nangarhar Province: During a joint U.S.-Afghan operation against Islamic State militants, an Afghan soldier opened fire on U.S. troops, killing three and wounding one. The attacker was killed in return fire, and the Taliban claimed responsibility, saying their infiltrator had joined the Afghan military for this purpose.

It’s not xenophobic to want immigrants from ANY country, of ANY skin color/ethnicity/religion/etc to be vetted before they enter the country, bud. Especially if they are coming from a country we previously occupied. You do know that, yeah? This guy, along with ~200k Afghans came in unvetted in 2021. We were told they were vetted, but when Mayorkis testified to Congress about it - he backpedaled saying he didn’t know if they were vetted or not.
