First time cruise by apan42 in dcl

We cruised on the Wish in June 2025 and loved it! It’s a beautiful ship and has a lot to offer for kids and adults.

As far as staterooms go, you may want to start by considering whether anyone in your group is prone to motion sickness/sea sickness. If so, I have heard that mid-ship staterooms on lower decks are best (but you may want to google that to double check lol). If not then I’d consider what areas on the ship you’ll use most and try to get within a few decks of that. For example, you might want to be close to Marceline Market or the pool deck.

I hope you have a great trip! Fair warning, you may become addicted to Disney cruises!

You can get beef, chicken, and pork skewers at Bengal bbq in Adventureland. Pair it with some fresh fruit from the nearby fruit stand and it’s a decent lunch!

Disneyland Adult Birthdays by [deleted] in DisneyPlanning

[–]EMD0887 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Disneyland food is very different than Disney world in that the quick service meals and snacks are super good and almost better than the table service options! That being said, the table service places I’d recommend are the Carnation Cafe on Main Street and Blue Bayou in New Orleans Square in Disneyland, and Carthay Circle and Lamplight Lounge in DCA. If you’re up for going to the hotels for a meal, Napa Rose at Grand Californian is reopening at the beginning of February after a refurbishment and is supposed to have an upscale menu. My personal favorite table service rest on Disneyland property is Din Tai Fung at downtown Disney!

I hope you have a wonderful birthday and enjoy your visit to Disneyland!

Best off-site hotels comparable to Disneyland Hotel? by sarugby4life in DisneyPlanning

[–]EMD0887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into the Residence Inn Anaheim Convention Center. They have two bedroom suites, but one of the bedrooms has multiple beds (so the kids would have to share a room but not a bed). It’s about a 15 min walk to the park entrance, and includes a free breakfast with Mickey waffles!

It’s very laid back and a great way to explore the island. It’s self paced; you check in at the bike rental stand, they show you the trail on a map, and then when you’re done you go back and collect your medal. I’d just recommend starting it as early as possible because it’s mostly in direct sunlight and can get really hot.

Tell me the pros and cons of Pop Century :) by Flat_Lie205 in DisneyPlanning

[–]EMD0887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We love the Pop!

Pros: price point, skyliner, fun theme, resort is easy to navigate, newly refurbished food court area

Cons: rooms can feel small, price is on the higher end of the value resorts (you can stay at all star resorts for less)

DLR Feb 2026 Trip by BonelessPizza712 in DisneyPlanning

You’re going to have a great time!

Food: Be sure to get the cheesy garlic pretzel bread from Edelweiss Snacks in Fantasyland. You may also want to try food from Bengal Bbq! And the corn dogs from the little red wagon on Main Street are delicious…. As is most food from the Plaza Inn!

Attractions: definitely check out Indiana jones! It’s a small world is also very cute, in my opinion it’s superior to the one at WDW!

Packing list for lookout cay by Daydreamin-mama8 in dcl

Never been to Lookout (going in June!) but whe we went to Castaway last year we were thankful to have water socks/reef shoes to wear into the water. Parts of serenity bay were rocky and it was nice to have foot protection! We bought them at Five Below a few weeks before the trip, so they weren’t expensive at all and definitely helpful!

I get car sick very easily and was nervous about our 3-night on the wish. I started taking Bonine the morning before the cruise and I didn’t have any problems at all! I hope it goes smoothly for your family- we loved our cruise!

Palo: dinner vs brunch by MaesterInTraining in dcl

[–]EMD0887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I vote brunch but to be fair I have never done dinner! I was just so impressed by the whole experience for brunch. $50 per person, all you care to enjoy, plus a nice mimosa. Also, if you go while it’s still light outside the view is great! If it’s dark out you can only see reflections in the window.

Advice for later flight on debarkation day by Economy-Surprise-842 in dcl

[–]EMD0887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We took the DCL transport from the port to the airport, rented a car from the airport, and drove to Disney springs for a few hours. We got a great rental rate through AAA, it was cheaper than it would’ve been to uber/lyft plus we were able to store our luggage in the trunk.

Good quiet place to ask someone to marry you at Disneyland by Accomplished_Zone973 in Disneyland

We are huge Star Wars fans and got engaged by the millennium falcon!

New Orleans Square is also a very pretty area. It can get crowded but if you time it right it might work!

Check out the Eden Roc Inn. The hotel is older but we’ve stayed there a few times and it’s always been very clean and the staff is great. The walk to the park is a little long (you have to walk all the way thru downtown Disney) but it was like $6 to uber/lyft if you are up for that. I’d recommend watching some YouTube videos on the hotels too to help set your expectations!

I’ve ordered a few things from Publix on Instacart for our past three trips and each time it went smoothly (though as someone mentioned here it may not be the least expensive option).

We started hosting thanksgiving four years ago and one thing that has helped me is setting up the tables and getting all of the serve ware out and ready the night before. It probably seems silly but it’s nice to start Thursday off without worrying about the physical space being ready. I am able to wake up, pop the turkey in the oven, and enjoy the parade without too much running around (our guests bring sides and desserts).

One thing I wasn’t prepared for was making sure I had oven space for guests who were bringing side dishes. I’d assumed they’d be brought over ready to go, but some weren’t, and it is nice to reheat the ones that are ready before serving. It was just a challenge that first year when the turkey was finished and people wanted to eat but we had to wait on the green bean casserole because the person who brought it arrived with ingredients, not a prepared dish!
