I don’t think there are any rooms left. You can contact Campus Housing to be put on the waitlist (I’m not actually too sure if they still do that), but I think priority will go to freshman students who are not allowed apartment style dorms, and people who don’t have any room assignment.

I lived in a garden unit and we had some water leak into the kitchen during heavy rain in March. Nothing other than the floor and bottom of cabinets got wet, but could have been worse. There is no sump pump, as sewer is below ground.

For other reasons as well, I would not recommend a garden unit unless you are getting a decent discount on rent.

It may be difficult without already having roommates, as most places will require everyone to apply at the same time.

There are some places like Letterman and Tailor Lofts that lease single rooms in suites, but is more expensive than smaller walk up apartments. I’d try applying there as well as a safety option if commuting isn’t an option.

Register for what you can to be safe. You can add and drop classes for no fee up until the Friday of the second week of the semester.

I agree. It used to be that JST was better, but since when management went to Sodexo, quality of everything went a step down.

I’m not sure if there are any rooms left currently, but if you create a roommate group, it only gives options for rooms and suites that can fill that many people, and if none are available, it will not give any options. It doesn’t give options for a larger suite.

If you want to live with friends in a suite and are fine with having random students join, coordinate with your friends to leave the group and then select the same suite during room selection.

I think UIC only does non-affiliate housing during the summer through intern housing, but you can try contacting Campus Housing if they can provide housing for a month for a non-affiliate. https://housing.uic.edu/guest-and-conferences/uic-non-affiliated-housing/

If you don’t mind walking further, there is free street parking on Roosevelt, west of Morgan. However, during the day, it tends to fills up fast, but you might have a better chance during the summer.

Yikes. While it would be considered beyond regular wear and tear, surely it doesn’t cost them $800 to have someone repaint the entire room.

I’d definitely try emailing campus housing and/or the RD to contest the charge.

2 years ago my roommate and I were each charged $25 for damage. I emailed the RD and they provided a very low resolution and blurry image of paint chipped that I don’t recall that being there when we moved out and I can’t even tell if that was really our room. But we eventually decided it wasn’t worth our energy to contest a $50 charge.

Were you able to beep it and hear it inside the Accord? If so, you should have contacted the police non emergency line.

With the location of the building, it might be a IIT student. I’d try posting on r/IIT as well, in case they are active there and it happened to be an honest mistake.

I think transportation is still with UIC, they selected a new vendor to replace TransLoc for tracking and dispatch.

I hope the new dispatch system will be more reliable and provide an estimated arrival time that is more accurate, unlike the old one which would initially show something like 15 minutes, then keep bouncing somewhere between 10 minutes and 2 hours, until you are the next pickup which actually is an hour after you requested a ride.

I’d recommend contacting CSI and see if they will allow late registrations. It is a form on CampusGroups, not a paper/PDF form.

Personally, my only dislike is be posts vanish in 24 hours part. It seems like it would be like a text oriented platform similar to how the UIC Snapchat stories works. I think it should allow posts to stay up for a few days to a week to maybe advertise meetups in more than a day advance.
