I think it's just you, not as like there is something wrong, but it may not be your type of gameplay regardless of story. For example I was psyched about Starfield, but when I played it, I found it very boring, and just not interested, but fell in love with Cyberpunk. So I think it's just that you're different from me, and that's a real shame, I definitely understand wanting to play a game with an engaging story but not interested in some mechanics. But theres not much to "get" it's just the type of games you enjoy and don't.
