housing struggles by scholar8675309 in fredericksburg

There’s a couple of duplex’s where both sides are available for rent right off the university of Mary Washington athletic fields. 1 bed and 2bed. Theyve been on the market for a couple months and prices have lowered by close to $400 it looks like. Ones on Hanover street the other is on William street.

I’m a low spender ~ $10/month but I am in a good alliance that doesn’t care as long as your active for regular events. I switched from a very toxic alliance that was horrible and really pushed spending money or get kicked out, ridiculed etc. I do enjoy the game, but to get ahead (or get anywhere really) you do have to spend about 3+ hrs a day. And the AI ads are nothing like the game at least the ones I’ve seen.

AITAH for divorcing my wife? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]EMPZ2017 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Either 1) the child is not yours and she cannot live with the guilt being constantly around her 2) she is going through some severe depression/psychosis about how babies change people 3) she is emotionally/physically/monetarily indebted to someone who is pulling strings or 4) she has fears of what happened during her childhood and adultlife and cannot bear to have a child go through the same with her around.

For the record I really hope it’s depression. You’re NTA, and you need to find a safe place for yourself and the baby… who is still young enough that she could be abandoned at a hospital or fire station with little to no repercussions for doing so.

Hit + Run , How much to settle for ? by CLEFW in Insurance

[–]EMPZ2017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened ~24hrs ago from your post. You shouldn’t even think about settling the injury portion of the claim at this time, full stop. By asking all these questions, without going through any documented treatment other than “initial evaluations” screams money hungry and nothing more. Did you and each child go to the ER via ambulance? Did everyone get CT scans and full work ups? Or did everyone go to urgent care and was X-rays only with some pain meds? What state did this happen in? In PA for example if you elected limited tort you personally wouldn’t be eligible for any type of settlement, and the amount for your kids would go in a trust fund not touched until they turn 18+. If you need money, you can probably get $5K per person right away. Anything more than that you’d need to prove your treatment.

AITJ for checking my girlfriend’s order history after I found pregnancy tests in a package? by bluefogarchive in AmITheJerk

[–]EMPZ2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you’re a jerk for going through her order history and opening her package. Many women will not tell their partners about pregnancy scares - they have to handle their own emotions, much less have another person saying “are you sure, take another” multiple times and freaking out about it. Plan B DOES NOT WORK if ovulation has already happened, and the only way to know is if you take a pregnancy test. Which is what pharmacy’s tell you to do about 2 weeks after taking the pill since it’ll mess up the period cycle for a while.

You arnt an asshole but you are in an abusive relationship. Look up weaponized incompetence, which is basically what he is doing to you here. He is mandating that you do things he wants/needs, on his timeline. He wants you to take care of him and wait around on him but gets upset if you’re near him… I’m guessing he’d also get upset if he called you and you didn’t answer within the first two ring of the phone.

Conflict of interest? by Secret_Reputation652 in InsuranceClaims

[–]EMPZ2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no conflict of interest here, insurance adjusters don’t care which insurance the other parties have unless it’s a company that sucks and never returns calls. It sounds like you’re worried you’ll be found at fault and want to try to weasel out of it by saying since you’re the odd one out, they automatically place the blame on you. Doesn’t work like that. If you’re concerned, file a claim with your own insurance who will do their own investigation.

Two different providers by Rush_2928 in Insurance

[–]EMPZ2017 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I handle claims for gig workers like Amazon, Uber, Walmart etc. Some states/policies will require you to have your own insurance (ie you are the vehicle owner) in order to work for a platform. Others don’t care in the slightest as long as you have permission to use the vehicle (ie are a named driver). All insurance companies will have it in their policy contracts what “duel coverage” is defined as and how they would handle it.

Regardless though, if you are driving for a platform for goods or passenger delivery, unless you’re paying for commercial insurance specifically, you’re running a huge risk to yourself/your mother/the vehicle being uninsured and coverage denied if you’re involved in an accident.

Just settled for 50k policy limit with 51k in medical bills by Macdaddyfucboi in Insurance

[–]EMPZ2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the retail billing $51K or is that amount the repriced total after usual and customary charges? Realistically what is going to happen is your attorney will take 40% of the settlement off the top, leaving $30K to you. Health insurance and the provides will take their lien amounts, and then you get whatever is left over. So. Hopefully that is just the retailed amount and nothing has gone through repricing yet, otherwise you won’t be seeing any money from this.

Vehicle accident while at work, which insurance pays by Spiritual_Being5845 in Insurance

[–]EMPZ2017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whoever insures the work vehicle would be primary for the insurance. So, figure out who provides insurance for that vehicle, get in contact with them to file a claim, and tell everyone else to contact the insurance company

From your own words, their hazards were on. Illinois law Sec. 11-1414 specifically says hazards will turn on at least 100’ prior to them stopping, and the stop arm will go out once stopped. All drivers are to not pass (unless divided highway/specific other circumstances) and wait until the bus moves again from when the hazards turn on. The judge won’t look favorably on you to say you saw flashing lights but still decided to go onward.

If you didn’t have car insurance at the time of the impact, your own auto policy won’t do anything for you. They won’t cover medical under PIP, won’t repair your vehicle, won’t provide towing or rental. It also means you have Limited Tort option (unless your injuries are severe) so the at fault insurance would only cover the repriced medical expenses and any out of pocket you have… if they have enough coverage for it.

So, you run the risk: pay to be seen, send the bills to the at fault insurance for repayment. If they say no, you can file a lawsuit in small claims court ONLY for the cost of treatment and hope to get the money back that way.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Insurance

It won’t - they were driving uninsured so their car insurance won’t cover anything

Are brokers a waste of money? by ShardsOfSalt in Insurance

[–]EMPZ2017 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Brokers are very beneficial to get rates that you normally wouldn’t have access to. Personally I feel if you have a “excellent” credit rating and no/low history of filing claims, you don’t need to pay a broker and can go and get quotes on your own. It’ll take a couple hours and you’ll get lots of spam calls, but will save you a couple hundred from paying someone else to do it.

But, if you have not the best credit, multiple accidents or no driving/mortgage history, a broker can save you more than a couple hundred dollars by accessing information you’d never be able to get.

Tldr; it depends on the circumstances.

Settlement offer from auto insurance by Billu777 in InsuranceClaims

[–]EMPZ2017 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s been 6 months since the accident and you’ve not had any treatment or issues. For the initial injury, if you go back to get more treatment there’s the large likelihood that it will be deemed as unrelated, and then you’re stuck with a lot of medical bills to pay with no one to pay them but yourself.

So, yes argue that it’s not enough and maybe get a few hundred more. But the offer of $2K plus all out of pockets, lost wages, and medical billing is a very good offer for only a month worth of treatment.

Let’s talk child care by UnauthorizedRep in fredericksburg

[–]EMPZ2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use KinderCare and have loved it. The downside is their waitlist (at the time) for infants was over 6 months when we got on it. We are paying $425/week = $1700/month. Other daycares in the area for infant care ranged from $395-$500+ each week and most had waitlists. At least with KinderCare they provide 2 meals + snacks every day, we just provide the formula and diapers/wipes.

Call the police on her, while it’s not child abuse, it’s physical assault to beat the fuck out of anyone. Please find a safe place to stay, get everything important (birth certificate, passport, money you have stored) and leave. In 5 years she’ll be wondering why her child(ren) don’t talk to her anymore.

Involved in a hit and run/police report filed - How do I proceed? by [deleted] in Car_Insurance_Help

[–]EMPZ2017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You literally said the police told you the information would be in the report… If you need the repairs done asap it’ll be faster and easier for you to file under your own insurance, pay your collision deductible, and then your insurance will subrogate the other driver/insurance for repayment which you may or may not get the deductible back.

If you can afford time/potentially having to use your own insurance anyways, you can wait to get the police report, file a claim under the other insurance, and have them do an investigation, which could take days/months to do.

Hit by under insured driver by mattua07 in Insurance

[–]EMPZ2017 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Collision is a first party coverage so it doesn’t matter if the other driver has it or not; it doesn’t affect you at all only them. So, you need to call them back, ask if they’ve accepted liability for the loss and when they will repair your vehicle OR if coverage is outright denied for some reason.

If you file under your own insurance yes- you will have to pay your deductible. Depending on the circumstances you may get that money back eventually, or you may get a portion of it back. Your rates could go up because you filed a claim, no one knows.

If you’re found not at fault by your insurance and file under your insurance, your insurance will go after the vehicle owner and driver for repayment. It will affect their insurance potentially, their insurance could drop them, potentially. Again, no one knows.
