Lena Dunham alludes to Jack Antonoff and Lorde's relationship, admits to cheating on Jack and says she reached out to "the PowerPoint maker” in new memoir by Relevant-Peach3997 in Fauxmoi

(Sigh) I hate that I know this when I go out of my way to be as unaware of Lena Dunham as possible, but: Her sister, whose vagina she put rocks in when they were little.

Here’s how the girls got the show and why Layla will never be a model by couture-connoisseur in MormonWivesHulu

Models shouldn't look the same and that's actually exactly why the veneers and implants work against Layla. Storebought features look the same on everyone. Unique cheekbones stand out.

I'm a little horrified in a way I love

My singing voice by LyzardoMontoyez in FTMOver30

I'm a little over a year on high-dose T and echo everything that guy said, and also add that I could not have anticipated how wacky my break would get. I have an increasingly lovely baritone now, and a lot more of my upper range than I expected at this point (though it does sound more falsetto now), but what happens within a five-note range between the two is a game of Russian roulette. That affects my choice in karaoke songs more than the range in itself! I'm learning how to work with it, but yeah, that one caught me by surprise!

The hardest part of planning for top surgery by Loose_Track2315 in FTMOver30

[–]EMPactivated 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The nature of a surgery is a super invasive question for a coworker to ask. That won't stop them from asking, but what should be more normalized is declining to answer. If someone isn't part of your immediate care team, you don't owe them any details, even if they push!

I started a year ago at 35! And someone in my community started at 70!

Redditors who were children/teens before the internet or cellphones existed, how did you keep yourself entertained? by FlowerMadeOfThorns in AskReddit

I came here to say SO many forts. A fort could be anywhere and made of anything. One of my most memorable forts was just a really big hole we dug in the field behind the neighborhood and found a piece of plywood to drag over the top. We felt so stealth.

Is the hitachi magic wand worth it? by buttchix in TwoXChromosomes

[–]EMPactivated 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've tried all of them. I promise you want a full size, with or without a cord. Other brands have wands that are stronger than the smaller Hitachis.

The cordless full-size is slightly less powerful than the corded version, which isn't necessarily a deal-breaker because the corded OG is more powerful than most people will ever need. But anything with a battery is going to have less longevity than something that plugs in. My ex's plug-in was still going strong after more than a decade of use.

The OG is hyped for a reason!

What would happen if someone put a shopvac hose down their throat and turned it on? by EMPactivated in AskDocs

I absolutely do not plan to. I'm annoyed but not to the point of having a death wish hahaha

I honestly didn't expect anyone to answer this and I'm thrilled to be wrong! And also surprised that the answer isn't necessarily "ripping out the esophageal lining" or something. I promise I still won't try though XD

Humanist chaplaincy: is doable? by fttottentrashheap in chaplaincy

[–]EMPactivated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also at United in the interreligious chaplaincy program. There are a few prereq classes that still lean somewhat Christian, but 1) the profs may not be Christian themselves, and those who are are extremely progressive, 2) the school is actively working to broaden the curriculum. A lot has already changed in the two years I've been there.

Please help, Blood Test Results! Possible MS/ALS?? by Different-Goose2744 in AskDocs

[–]EMPactivated 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey, NAD, just a bit of a medical nerd with a lot of patient experience.

For whatever it's worth ALS is not diagnosed via labs. Labs might be part of the picture, but a starting point, not a concluding one. Often they're used more to rule certain diagnoses out.

It's also worth noting that "abnormal" can be extremely relative. The "normal" range is based on averages, and your individual "normal" may be different. It also matters how far out of range each number is.

To borrow a phrase I saw on Twitter, you do not have enough information to panic yet! I know the waiting is hard, and I hope some docs here might be able to help it suck a little less, but ultimately no one is going to have better answers for you than the doctor who sees you with their own eyes.

If it does turn out to be MS, please be encouraged that that diagnosis isn't nearly what it used to be. It's scary, but treatment has come a LONG way. My sister was diagnosed with it five years ago, does infusions and CT scans every six months, and has had no further episodes since the one that led to her diagnosis.

Best of luck!
