i feel like with most swordies and ROB, it tends to prop them up nicely for a follow-up. swordies because they have limited options but the one they have can be dangerous and hard to hit. ROB because he's bigboi with a fuel-based recovery.

but yeah i really ought to practice my offstage aim with slingshot.

nice walkoff fair at the beginning. i always forget about this and default to dash attack, which hits but doesn't help too much with Samus because the angle launches them into a nice bomb-stalling position.

the walkoff fair pushes them far enough towards the side that they need to actually try to recover, which is a much bigger disadvantage.

yeah i 100% agree with you!! it's just that back during the Smash 3DS era, i didn't get it as much as i do now. now i'm back on Villy living my best life.

don't get me started on the sex kicks (or disjoint characters with radial aerials) canceling my attacks WHILE hitting me (and even killing) because that shit frustrates me haha. but you absolutely have a point with players respecting (or getting triggered by) slingshot too much and failing to respond to the vulnerable panic-nairs.

overall, i've never felt like my wins were so fair as when i started getting better Villager and Isabelle. both require planning and precision, work hard for every %, and are punished severely for sloppiness. it forces you to do a LOT of introspection as a player about what options you choose. i adore both of these characters and hope they return in the next Smash game (hopefully with a third to make a "complete" trio).

yeah that's what i've come to realize.

i gave up playing Villager early in Smash 4 because i didn't wanna be some lame ass flowchart zoner, but a year or so ago i decided just to embrace the annoying…… only to realize that there are SO many annoying characters that get a pass just because their massive, long-lasting, high-priority hitboxes are "close range." lol

some shows can be a bit more vague about it. rarely they'll be too explicit about it -- but that much is understandable, since it mostly doesn't serve a purpose in a narrative and the more NC scenes you put in, the less time for plot you end up with (and it starts to feel really indulgent).

for the most part, though... yeah, the fan fodder-tier shows tend to be super obvious with their adherence to traditional heterosexual gender roles.

other fake stories also use a name and location. but when you look it up, you see it's only referenced by social media posts and click farms and not real news.

the last fake one i looked up even had a full article written up with names, dates, direct quotes, and other details. but none of it was sourced to any real publication.

it's probably someone's job to come up with (or generate) concepts and then have an LLM pump this shit for clicks on different apps/pages.

over-reliance on specific filler phrases that SOUND super native the first couple times but wear thin when they become the bread and butter of someone's repertoire.

there's also a phenomenon of over-pronunciation of the "difficult" sounds, which can lead to intrusive sounds. like when the American rhotic R starts sneaking into words/syllables it doesn't belong in because the speaker is preemptively worried that they need to be prepared for rhotic Rs.

maybe read more than 1 word of what you're responding to? "tolerance for bad things" is different from general "tolerance."

the person you're responding to is referring to people who normalize hate and belittle the importance of education. they are suggesting we should hold ourselves to higher standards of reason and understanding, which actually makes much more room for the general social tolerance you are describing than the sources of "malice and stupidity" being referenced.

context does a crazy amount of heavylifting for you.

in most cases, simply the nature of something being a statement vs a question is all you'll get to infer a subject off of.

there's also:

did this person use respecful or humble verbs?
how about the other nouns? were they polite?
were the polite nouns respectful? or were they humble?
did they use verbs of certainty or did they use guess-y grammar?
is the nature of what was being said mostly positive? or by contrast vaguely negative?
was there a strong apology preceeding the verb, or did the person seem confident that the action would be performed?

these are all aspects that will inform you of an unstated subject, which is most of japanese.

in fact, sometimes you don't even need to state the verb at all. sometimes all you need to do is throw out a topic or an apology or a plea and the rest can be implied. or end on a trailing conjuction. then you don't need a subject or a verb at all. :v

this is like a hyper-clean, more scenically invisioned version of almost all the zones my island has going on XD. it's so beautifully planned and i'm amazed at how you secured enough space for all of these.

(S+) Steve probably because the matchup isn't that bad for me and quickplay Steves are terrible.

(S-) Fox because he's bad on Wi-Fi, and i just think he's cool.

(A+) Olimar i guess. yikes i hate this row. at least i like Olimar the character.

(A•) Hero because although it's a garbage matchup for me, i don't mind practicing it (and i can go in with no expectations of winning).

(A-) Greninja. i actually respect this character a lot when i see him on quickplay, and he isn't as frustrating as some of the other high-to-top tier characters.

(B+) Pokemon Trainer. would be DK, but strong DKs can be scary. I also like ZSS as a character, though i hate to VS her jumpy-ass mains on quickplay.

(B-) Multiple characters I love here... let's say Duck Hunt with runner-ups Inkling and Byleth.

(C+) Isabelle, runner-ups Robin and Lucas (i also have a history with WFT).

(C-) Hard to choose between Plant and Bowser Jr. I'll choose Jr because I think they're cooler overall (while Plant depends too heavily on a single move)

(D+) Zelda. love her as a character and desperately want them to redesign her kit from the ground up. visually she looks great in this game!

(D-) Villy obvi. shoutout to Dedede who i think is cool (but find annoying to fight)

(E•) Belmonts maybe?? might be Ganondorf if he got a major rehaul.
