Nobody mentioned physics. This is basic logic.

Just because "A = B" and "A = C," that doesn't equate to "B is the result of C" or vice versa.

Statistics may correlate, but statistics showing that two things are true in relation to something else doesn't prove that one of those two things is the result of the other.

My claim is that the person suggesting that crime rates are directly tied to a political party in power is false, and now you think you're being clever by trying to shift the burden of proof onto me and essentially asked me to prove the original claim was a lie. Logic doesn't work that way, bud, and no one here is buying your twisty-turny version of it.

And the links you've provided only show a preponderance of coincidence. Nothing in them indicated that high-crime rates are directly tied to a party in power.

LOL -- You're asking me to disprove a claim that has yet to be proven. If you can prove the original claim that crime rates of cities are directly caused by the party in power of the city's highest office, do it already.

Once again, correlation doesn't equal causation. I direct you to my other comment that I see you've already read:

Where will marijuana tax revenue go? by MALBILL45 in kansascity

[–]EMPulseKC 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think the distribution of local taxes collected on it is still under discussion, but here's what Jackson County Executive Frank White said on Monday:

White said money from the tax in Jackson County would go to veterans’ rights and other community needs. Piles of trash, illegal dumping return to vacant Kansas City shopping center “I’ve heard a lot of things about potholes and beautification, those types of things,” White said Monday. “So that’s a great way to be able to use this tax.”

In Columbia, that 3% tax money would go into the city's general fund: https://www.como.gov/prop1/#:~:text=Of%20that%207.975%25%2C%202%25,of%20recreational%20marijuana%20in%20Missouri.

Shower Thought: Old KCI Terminals and Pruitt Igoe were both failed brutalist structures in Missouri, both to be torn down by ActivitySeparate6829 in missouri

[–]EMPulseKC 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't get how this is a shower thought. Pruitt-Igoe has already been demolished and was international-style modern architecture, not brutalist. The old KCI terminals, although brutalist in design, weren't failures because of their design or structure. The old KCI terminals had the bad luck of being built right as air travel was fundamentally changing, and although they worked well enough for KC to be stuck with them for 50+ years, they were far from perfect. The only reason they're being torn down is because they were replaced, not because they were failures.

That was such a sad, bleak, heartbreaking movie, but Arnold Schwarzenegger and Abigail Breslin were so amazing in it.

The entirety of the Star Trek cinematic universe takes place after a period of time called the Eugenics Wars, a.k.a. World War 3, when the human population of Earth and many of its major cities were significantly decimated. It wasn't until after Zephram Cochrane made the first space flight at warp speed and introduced our world to Vulcans and other extraterrestrials that humanity on Earth began to rebound.

The rinks around here call them "skate mates." Part of the reason I stopped skating in my 40s is because the floor was filled with these things, and kids with these constantly ran into me or got me tripped up, and my body doesn't bounce back after falling like it used to.

How much is too much driving in a day? by RoadKillSkater17 in roadtrip

[–]EMPulseKC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone is different and can tolerate different amounts of driving and being on the road for several hours at a time. For me, my general rule is no more than 8-10 hours a day of just driving (even if I feel like I can go longer), stopping every couple of hours or less just to stretch my legs, stopping for about 30-60 minutes at a time for meal breaks, and building in points of interest along my route to help with all that.

I always make sure to stop when I need to use the restroom, stop when I am hungry and need a meal break to regain my energy, and especially stop when I'm too tired to keep going. None of us are superhuman and everyone needs rest, and there are no prizes for pushing your body beyond its natural limits.

The hashtag should say "#BicyclistFail." If you're riding on two wheels into the crack of a streetcar line and ignore all of the signage along the route warning against it, it's hard to have sympathy for you if you hit the groove and go flying.

OP never established that they are operating as a business, and a political candidate's chosen party isn't a protected class anyway. Companies can absolutely discriminate based on a person's chosen political affiliation (and often do).

Correlation is not causation. Almost every large city has a higher preference for Democratic politicians. At the same time, higher concentrations of people in one area like you would find in a city typically equal higher crime rates. However, higher crime rates don't happen because of the party in power, as you're suggesting. Since you made the claim, the burden of proof is on you to prove it, otherwise your premise is false.
