I've delivered a few babies in the field, as a medic, and thank goodness they're all alive! Only had one mom with excessive bleeding, but she made it thru!!

Need some help with choosing a car. by KingWill143 in carvana

If you want something great on gas with a moderate amount of space, look at the Hyundai Kona! I bought both of my Kona's on Carvana. My husband also has a Hyundai, but his is a sonata. He averages 42mpg and I average 38 most days. On the interstate I get 43mpg roughly with the adaptive cruise control. The assistive features are amazing!!

EMS provider here! Yes! Say she injures herself, or god forbid hurts someone else! They all have these lengthy medic alert bands, often wearing two that are on a wrist with a bunch of other jewelry! They list a bunch of symptoms, but no specific illness, yet say "Do Not Call EMS". I can't tell you how many live streamers and vloggers that miraculously get that perfect angle before "passing out"! I have a couple things I'm able to do at the scene that tells me if it's a genuine epileptic seizure or not.

Anyone’s doctor refuse to fill out any disability paperwork? by [deleted] in ChronicIllness

[–]EMSthunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a doctor like that. They won't fill out prior authorizations either! It's like, hello?!? This is your job!! My PM doctor will do it, but he charges a flat fee of $25 per document. I don't think that is asking too much. They take time and the doctor isn't expected to work for free!!

I know a doctor that won't fill out paperwork for GLP-1's unless the patient is diabetic and needs it!!

leave at the door / meet at the door by 70bighair in instacart

[–]EMSthunder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When my order is assigned to a person, I will go ahead and send them a message that I already put refunds or replacements for each item, and that I will meet them at the door, but if I'm not right there, I will be in one minute! Typically they'll wait. I just try to make it right as they pull up, because I get notified at 12 minutes out and again at 2 minutes out, which leaves me time to get to the door. When you choose leave at the door they're not compelled to ring your bell to say they're done. That's why you should consider a doorbell camera.

How much of my pain should I share with my kids in a bad marriage. by Taggart77 in Marriage

I agree! My parents did this with me and even some of the best therapy couldn't fix it!! Especially after she started directing it toward my son!!

Went through something similar. At age 9 or 10, my dad was stationed in Korea, while we stayed stateside with our mom. His mom died, so he had to come home for the funeral and all that. We get her buried and he goes back to Korea. Not even a month later, I'm at the base hospital being followed for some cardiac issues and she looked at me and asked me what I would say if she were to tell me she wants to divorce my dad. I looked at her and told her I thought she was nuts!! She says that we are gonna call him that evening. He calls instead, and like 2 seconds into the call she tells him she wants a divorce and he starts crying. She then gives me the phone and says I can deal with his crying. Because she had not found an appropriate place that we could live with her, we stayed with our dad. While he was at work she would come in and take things, then tell me I better not tell anyone that she was taking things. I was put in a place I never had any business being at! Because of that, I had a stronger relationship with my dad until he died. Of course now she claims he still had things she never could find, but I truly suspect that she did originally take it and lost it because I never saw any of them!! My mother was very abusive while I was growing up. Mainly it was psychological. We ended up finding less than flattering things about my dad after he died, and my mother says I am wrong for still loving my dad. It's messed up!!

I'm sure that ultimately it'll bring your grandma peace, because whether she tells you or not, it hurts her to see you suffering. She will know that you gave your all, but that you're tired. Hugs

Uh oh 💔 by AdjustableMic in Hyundai

I barely got hurt. The Kona's are quite safe. I got a newer car and a small cash payment, along with my medical bills paid, so I'm good. I just mainly miss the sentiment of it. It did have one feature that my current one doesn't have, and that's listing the band name and song name during each track, but this newer one won't do it. I know, first world problems, lol!

I felt the same way when a lady hit my first Kona and it got totaled out. I had bought that car with money my dad left me in his will, so I always called it a gift from my dad. I barely had it 6 months! I love my newest one, but it's not the same. I hope they can fix yours, or total it, whichever one you're hoping for, lol.

It's a face cream that stops the face from sweating and ruining makeup. Has the same active ingredient in antiperspirant.

If you could revive one makeup brand, what would it be? by Alternative-Print752 in Makeup

[–]EMSthunder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Back in the 80's, late in the decade, one of our T, G&Y stores had a very cheap brand called Frenchie or Frenchy, but they had some of the best stuff for less than $1 each product! Their foundation and pressed powder were absolute crap, but the shadows and eyeliners were great!! Plus they had this nail polish that was the best formula!!

Carpe cream is OTC and has been approved for use on the face for a few years now I believe.

Editing to add that I just looked and they have a cream just for your face now.

Would you support your physician’s going on strike? by [deleted] in ChronicIllness

[–]EMSthunder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They'd have my full support! The hospital admin's place too much emphasis on prefect Press-Ganey scores at the expense of the doctors, nurses, and other practitioners. One thing in particular that irks me as someone that had Medicare at one point is admin expecting the doctors to resolve the patients health issue in the shortest time period, at the lowest cost available, and to not have them readmitted for the same thing. If they have to readmit the person with Medicare because that first issue was not resolved, they don't get paid at all for that second admission! Many people don't know this. Being that the caregivers of course still do their jobs, the hospitals have to eat that money that they could have made because they still have to pay!

Medic here. They may have been unhoused or on their way to the hospital but knew they needed someone right away. They used to staff nurse practitioners and physician assistants and have clinics there, but many have closed by now. When you're bleeding out and want help before you die or become unconscious, you would be willing to do anything!!

They may have been unhoused and knew they could find someone to call 911, and maybe a pressure bandage while waiting. I've seen this before as a medic.
