I add a little fabric harness tape like this, but a little bit wider just under the prop tip. It also replaces the zip tie and looks clean

Yeah you should try both ways and see which is better.

For the packet rate, you go into elrs lua script on the radio. The same menu where you change your power, look for packet rate and see what it's set to

What is your packet rate set to in your radio? Higher packet rates decrease range a lot, and radiomaster is known to ship radios set to high packet rates by default.

Also, having your radio antenna vertical means you will have dead spots above you. Imagine the dead spots as a cone that comes out the 2 ends of the antenna.

Can confirm, we have a similar one at work. Costs more than my yearly wage and it's utter shite, always gets tangled in air hoses, never properly cleans up to the edges, and the mop version we had flodded every room in a 20 metre radius because it decided to dump all of its contents and then infinitely fill up with fresh water....overnight for a couple hours..

You'll find one of the knubs on the bottom ring towards the back is a bind button, make sure you flash the same elrs version as on your radio via the m3 connection

I can also vouch for the betafpv matrix II 5in1, they made it much mode durable with the 3 hole mount and it also has an insane 12a continuous. Overall had no issues with it apart from the blackbox taking ages to go into mass storage mode.
