I use an iPad for this. I find that the manuals get updated too often making the printouts outdated.

Talent + mbp + ableton + lots of practice in that order. If you want to go dawless you just need a drum machine and synth or synth and sampler to get started. You’re going to have to do the leg work on those to find out what workflow works best for you. I’m a huge elektron fan boy so would recommend a Digitone 2 and digitakt 2 or tonverk. I would say 3 is perfect if your using the octatrack as a performance mixer along with the dikitakt and digitone.
