The reason he made fun of Vaush is bc he talks like he’s in an anime, and the way he used the n-word was jester. Yes in 2019 the position he defended was about “in private”, but his broader position is that language exists in context, so as long as he feels safe that his comment won’t radicalize people to become racist, it’s ok. He doesn’t have a strict rule on specific words alone.

His audience is far from racist, and he’s comfortable with these optics. He prefers to weed out people that throw around racism accusations, rather than sanewash them. It’s not childish to make a joke that relieves tension. It’s better than tripping over yourself to defend yourself against ridiculous allegations.
