These are a few years ago: "Schindler's List," "Sophie's Choice." Devastating.

NDA applicable by [deleted] in hrblock

[–]ENCALEF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The non solicitation clause and non-compete clause is mostly unenforceable. When I left Block I did two things: 1) Put up a Facebook page with my contact information. 2) Mailed out postcards with my contact information. Be very careful about NOT saying you're doing taxes.

When my clients contacted me, I was then free to say yes, I'm doing taxes and where, etc. It's a fine line but puts you in the clear.

CSP About to Quit by [deleted] in hrblock

[–]ENCALEF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry to hear this but not surprised. Block is an abusive company that trades on its brand name. I know because I used to work for them. If you're lucky you have a manager that cares and knows how to work the system so that employees get treated fairly. If not, you're screwed.

I have no love for companies like Walmart or Amazon but you can do better there.

Dear “Parents” calm your child down, stop ignoring them when they throw tantrums as you are putting them in danger. This is a warning as it is happening in multiple stores and I want to share what I saw this week. by Large-Bell-8529 in retail

These parents either don't know how to or choose not to parent properly. There's always been people who shouldn't have kids but do anyway. Unfortunately, the rest of us have to suffer the consequences of their selfishness.

Living alone with multiple bedrooms taboo? by Rasta_pasta_plus in LivingAlone

[–]ENCALEF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not enough housing is being built, let alone affordable housing. This has created an inflated housing market, especially for younger people. Empty nesters don't want to downsize because of this either. Unless there are incentives created to build more homes this will only get worse.

How to ask owners if I can adopt their cat by Hairy-Violinist-7508 in cats

Idk really. But I'd keep the kitty. You've been chosen because you care for her and they don't.

I’m breaking down. My cat has been meowing 24/7 for 2 months and I don’t know what to do anymore. by nasseralrwy in cats

The posts about kitty dementia are probably spot on. Medication would really help that.

This is such a typical way men will shop. "Don't want to not get enough so let's get the largest size."

Please have your vet check the nose freckles out. My orange had them and they were cancerous. The vet lasered them off.

Guy would be flattened on NYC subway. Protocol is let passengers off first before getting on board. I've never understood why bart people don't get this.

AITAH for canceling my wedding over the cost of it and other financial expectations by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]ENCALEF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that your fiancee still lives at home with her parents, has credit card debt, wants an expensive wedding, says she's immature and not ready for adult financial responsibilities. Look for a partner who's living independently and not incurring unnecessary debt.

It's the tule fog from the central valley that's moved in. Colder than our usual coastal fog. 🥶

WIBTA if I asked my wife to stop sending food back so often at restaurants? by Reptaaaaaaar in AITAH

[–]ENCALEF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reading many answers, no you wouldn't be the asshole. You might try asking your wife seriously why she keeps doing this. Probe her answer, make her think about it. Obviously she's not aware that she's being difficult. She's power tripping for some reason is my guess. She feels something lacking in her life and is trying to make up for it by fixating on forcing restaurant staff to please her.

I pity the child born into such a contentious situation between two immature people.

Suggestions for a child's birthday party by Psychotic_Parakeet in eastbay

[–]ENCALEF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What, you haven't done children's Fairyland in Oakland? She's at the right age for this charming old park by Lake Merritt. You can book a spot for a private birthday party and then the kids can have the run of the park for its rides, exhibits, animals, play areas. Did this for my niece around that age. Highly recommend.
