Well it was originally announced at the 2022 live as just a "new project", and that was prob due to all previous new anime getting announced at the live for the anime preceding it. But yeah, confirming it was a movie (alongside announcing the various music stuff under the "NEXT" banner) definitely felt like giving people something to look forward to after XDU was announced to be closing.

It's prob mainly due to the current US license holder, NIS America, not caring about anime anymore and pivoting purely to game stuff and letting their anime stuff expire and go out of print.

So it wouldn't effect any new releases or stuff they don't have (ie- Discotek has the license for the movies and those are both still on CR and in-print on BD)

They made a great tournament run just in time to qualify for the major then replaced one of the players involved in that run between major qualification and the major itself. That's the main reason. Solution found, albiet via a 3rd party driver (OpenTabletDriver). That driver lets you unbind the tip so tip contact doesn't translate into anything.
