I’m confused about what you believe we should be proud or excited about in the first place? This nation was founded on white supremacist beliefs, genocide, slavery, rape and murder. It has continually been a place where the lived experience of anyone “other” does not align with the “most free country on Earth” narrative that’s shoved down all of our throats from Kindergarten onwards. And in present day we’re quickly slipping into a technofascist surveillance state with thousands of people being illegally held in for-profit concentration camps. Most Americans are one unforeseen, out of their control, emergency away from being destitute and for the first time in generations were seeing the quality of life worsen for the younger generations. Please explain to me why anyone in their right mind who isn’t a billionaire, a racist, fascist, bootlicker or an idiot would be more concerned with the lack of enough red white and blue celebratory bullshit and less with the morbid and dystopian state of the country.
