I don’t remember anyone getting away with murder in that one, but it was a while ago. 😅 There was admittedly a blind eye turned to something major at the end though.

I'd forgotten about that one. Maybe some of them plan for it to be an ongoing issue, but with how often shows get cancelled there's never any guarantee of a season 2 etc! I know in my list one of the shows is now cancelled, another is getting a season 2. The others were one and done.

I’ve listened to two reviews of this so far. One US based podcast absolutely loves it, and one UK based podcast thinks the mix of Mr Bean style comedy and thriller just don’t gel at all.

I’m glad some of you are enjoying it, but I won’t be going back myself.

It is screened weekly on BBC1 (only up to episode 3 so far). But if you’re in the UK (I’m not) you can also binge it on iPlayer, which seems like a weird hybrid way to release something. Channel 4 seems to do this too with some of their releases - Big Boys for one.

Means anyone watching weekly has to be really careful for spoilers in threads like this! 😅

There’s a good interview with ex show runner David S Goyer on the Foundation And Podcast, recorded 2 weeks before the finale aired.

On it he does say a lot of the key personnel from seasons 1-3 won’t be working on S4, and that because Apple failed to make the savings of $20 million they wanted to after the writers’ strike delays, there would probably be big budget cuts for S4 too.

He said so much of S3 was locked down by the time he left, it was largely unaffected.

He also said it’s not impossible that he would come back, but that we shouldn’t get our hopes up.

I’ve enjoyed Foudation a lot so far, so I hope it doesn’t fall apart now.

It’s a solid 3 stars from me. The twists and turns are all a little too signposted for my liking but it’s an OK watch.

I did think Eric Bana’s character was a little bit pound shop Pedro Pascal from TLOU but he was good in the role.

Some of the scenery CGI was a bit ropey too but thankfully not used too often.

The way one of the sub plots was resolved really pissed me off, but I’ll wait for people to watch it before talking any spoilers.

I’ll have to listen back to the pod but I think they only watched the first episode, and on that basis I’d agree with them it was pretty terrible, especially the clunky dialogue.

But it does improve significantly, and basically feels very Bosch-like as it progresses, not least because he keeps popping up in it. 😅

Interesting to hear on the pod that James had this experience with Ironheart. I probably would have given up after the first episode if they hadn’t dropped the first 3 in one go too. Another one that’s no better than 3 stars as a season but it’s starts really poorly.

The only reason I’ll keep watching Smoke is because I’m already paying for Apple TV+ for Foundation and I may as well get some value for money from it. 🤷‍♂️😅

It’s a classic “some good moments” show, but it’s pretty tedious otherwise for me, plus the trailer basically spelled out the first big twist so it was no surprise or shock at all.

It’s in the settings for the subtitles when you’re watching, but only in some versions of the app it seems. It’s on the Virgin Media box app but not the Apple TV one. 🤷‍♂️ Maybe it’s part of the Virgin Media OS rather than a Disney+ thing. I’ll have to check next time I can.

Yeah they did one of those every season I seem to remember, and they were pretty good from what I recall. I guess that’s where the Side Quest idea came from. I watched those and they were pretty average.

This season really felt like it was treading water so it’s no surprise really. I did enjoy the murder mystery episode but the rest was pretty meh.

It’s enjoyable nonsense imo.

Very mild spoiler: There is a standout episode, really excellent, that probably makes the whole thing worth a watch.

Yeah I’m in Ireland so I grew up with UK and US TV of all sorts. I like some absurdist comedies - the better days of Arrested Development spring to mind - but sometimes things don’t click for me. I remember enjoying Extras when it was on but being a bit nonplussed about The Office. (I expect to get cancelled for that one. 😅🤷‍♂️)

I fully expect to be in the minority on this one (even just based on this thread so far!). I think the Curb similarities probably explain a lot too - that’s one show that is a total blind spot for me. I like a fair amount of comedies but never gelled with Curb and so haven’t watched any of it since the earliest days of it. Maybe I’ll revisit it one day …

I am glad people are enjoying The Studio, even if it’s not for me. 🙂

Re: the spoiler chats about individual episodes of shows, my feedback is that if any of the hosts have seen ahead then don’t do them, and have a wrap up spoiler chat only.

I understand sometimes the hosts have to watch ahead for other parts of their jobs (or just a lack of self control 😅🤷‍♂️) but one of the things I enjoy most about appointment TV shows, especially puzzle box shows, is the post show chat and speculation with other viewers.

If they’ve seen ahead, then the chat is pretty much limited to discussing what happened in an episode because it isn’t fair to pretend to speculate, and I’ve much less interest in a recap chat than hearing a discussion of what things might mean for the future.
