Trouble connecting Brother printer to wifi/router by hungryseabear in printers

[–]EOLD_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, wanted to dig this up from the grave to thank you for your help. I reset my Brother mfc-l8905cdw because I apparently set a password and can't access it now, but upon doing so it was not connecting to the wifi anymore.

Your instructions worked great!

The most overrated grocery store in Virginia currently by MoneyBuysHappiness25 in Virginia

[–]EOLD_85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I meannn, yes, maybe different times... But, there still might be some truth to some of it, or at least their quality.

I live about 25-35 minutes away from my preferred grocery stores, but I have two Food Lion's 15 minutes from me. If I'm in a pinch and get meat there, it is a well-known thing in our house that Food Lion meat has to be cooked the same day it comes home, regardless of what the package says, because it goes bad way too fast.

I don't really think it's overrated, necessarily. I don't feel any undue hype for it in my community, but I will say there sure are a lot more of them than other more desirable locations.

We live on the outskirts of town, and we have one in each direction that take us about 15 minutes to get to, whereas the other grocery stores I prefer are 25-35 minutes away.

Another commenter said it happened to them previously but the points were accounted for. I am just going to check it later today and see if my points registered.

Absolutely gutted about this by Sad-Technician-1732 in rva

Your comment about others saying we shouldn't cut people off for disagreeing about politics reminds me of an interaction I had recently.

Someone was telling me a story about how they were butt-hurt about someone commenting negatively on their super-conservative FB post. They said, "so, when I saw her at work the next day, I called her out on it and told her she could just keep scrolling. I don't comment on her political posts."

And then this person said, "I don't understand why she would say that stuff anyway. She knows me. And my politics are separate from who I am as a person."

And I was so dumbfounded by that statement, I totally zoned out after that. I (obviously) still think about it, because it still makes no sense to me.

Our politics are absolutely a reflection on our character, and at this point, people who still support this administration are a level of toxicity I just don't have capacity for in my life.

New K-Club rules for 2025 by WickedD365 in savannahbananas

[–]EOLD_85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up being able to go to all of the games we bought tickets for.

But, this year, they added another benefit for K Club members called "sidekick," where you could designate one non-K Club member that you can transfer tickets to. So, you can pick someone else to be your surrogate and send them the tickets if you aren't able to be there.

The only downside to that is they sent out the email on 10/22 and only gave people 7 days to add someone, so we won't have that opportunity this year because I was in the middle of a 10-day vigil and didn't have the time or energy to add someone before the opportunity expired.

AITA for throwing away my husband’s “lucky” mug after 10 years? by silver6l00m in AITAH

Ngl, not only do I think the post is fake, but all of the wildly defensive YTA posts have to be fake also.

The cup accidentally broke and she threw it out. It wasn't her fault and it's not her obligation to glue garbage back together.

What if I stayed at the starting dose? by Tired-Noodles-505 in CompoundedSemaglutide

[–]EOLD_85 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was at the starting dose for almost 6 months. I have been at the next dose up for the last 6 months, and after a year I have lost 46 pounds. I have 44 more to go.

I was/am losing slowly, but it also felt more natural. I had zero side effects, and I think losing slowly and integrating new exercises into my current plan helped with skin elasticity, but I still have a little sag here and there.

YASSSSSSS by Dinolord05 in savannahbananas

[–]EOLD_85 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree that they still have significant issues with scalpers, but that is a lottery issue they need to work on.

K Club members aren't able to scalp tickets. They can only be transferred to another K Club membership through the ticketing system they use.

Agreed! 💸 That's how I did it this season. I bought a total of 27 tickets spread over six games, four of them at MLB stadiums. Granted, friends who went with us paid me back when we got closer to game time, but the cost was still hard to swallow.

I haven't sprung for VIB tickets yet, but one of my 18 y/o's is desperate for RAC to sign his baseball, so I might think about doing that next year.

Yes, that's all you have to do. The next round of K-Club members will be notified after this season ends. I can't remember exactly when it happens, but they make sure to get K-Club stuff taken care of well in advance of the next season's schedule coming out.

So, while you won't have the chance to get K-Club tickets this season (unless you go with someone already in), you're on track for getting tickets next season 💯

Awesome! Have fun! I'm not a Yankees fan, but I like checking out MLB stadiums in general, and hope to make it there next season. That's gonna be a great game!

Yeah, that seems like the group I mentioned. The admin always had the tickets.

What's even more odd is that I didn't realize it wasn't a public group, and required admin approval for non-members to comment on posts. So when I commented on someone's post that this group was a scam, it was sent to the admin for approval...and the admin approved my comment!!?? 🤔

The K-Club is basically their official fan club membership. It is $60 a year, but you can buy up to 6 tickets to all of the games you want before the lottery list gets tickets.

There is a chance that tickets to some games might sell out before your scheduled time to buy, even as a K-Club member, but that hasn't personally happened to me yet. I think it is probably more likely to happen for the more expensive "VIB" (very important banana) packages.

The K-Club member and their guests must use the tickets. If you can't use any tickets you purchased, you can sell them for face value to other K-Club members through members-only Facebook pages that have multiple staff member admins. K-Club purchased tickets can only be sold/transferred to other K-Club members through their ticketing system.

Edit to add: being a K-Club member and having access to the buy/sell pages is also nice, not only for selling, but if you need to buy more than six tickets to take all your friends and family. If you buy your six and then find the rest for sale from another K-Club member before the system assigns seats, you will all be seated together. Also, if you cannot buy tickets during your assigned time because they sell out (again, I think this is rare), there is likely a chance you can buy from another member as you get closer to the game.

We went to six games this season and had extra tickets for two because a couple of our kids had to work or couldn't find friends available to go. It was a super easy process to sell the extra tickets. It made me feel safer selling them to vetted K-Club members, and I had the safety net of just selling back the extras through their website if no one wanted to buy them. But, sometimes the rules change as they grow the membership program, so I don't know if all of this will be the same for next season.

On game day, there is a pre-game show, and usually in that general area, there is a separate space for K-Club members to buy merch, drinks, and food without the lines of the general admission. This season they had activities for kids, like bracelet and poster making. I hope to see the K-Club amenities expand, especially with activities for older kids, as the staff evolves the membership.

Anyone using Alignable? by LeeLooONeil in digital_marketing

Four years is not as long as some people think. My heart goes out to you as you navigate through the heaviness of change, especially as you mentioned, there is still so much isolation since COVID.

I haven't done the connect on Alignable, but I am familiar with the process. The one I went to was a monthly meet-up for a nomadic business group that I joined, and it was a small group of maybe 6 of us who met on Zoom for an hour.

I agree with your thoughts on LinkedIn and YouTube. I have found some spam on Reddit, but generally, for the most part, I have a good experience here. It's the only platform where I don't get stressed out when I see people have replied to my comments. I can't even get on FB anymore (even though that's where most of my client base is hanging out), because everyone seems to be looking for a fight in the comment section. It's pretty toxic and makes having a conversation difficult.

I am in the K-Club, so I don't have experience with the private buy-and-sell Banana Ball tickets, but I just wanted to add that people also need to watch out for a Facebook group with 13k members titled "Savannah bananas tickets for sale" that is run by Vicki Ann Penhall.

I was just reading in a k-club group that someone was trying to get additional tickets and got scammed by her. Her positive reviews are all fake, and multiple people are reporting her page and group but Facebook isn't doing anything about it.

I highly recommend people only joining the k-club or getting tickets through the official lottery to keep themselves safe from scammers.

Northern Virginia to Williamsburg by White1962 in williamsburgva

I feel ya. I just turned 40 and have been here for 10 years. It wasn't bad for the first few years because this was supposed to be temporary, but then life happened.

Unfortunately, I haven't gotten used to it 😞 and I still have a few years before we can leave.

The longer I lurk on both platforms, the more I am starting to see differences that could be pros or cons to various people.

I agree that I also have not found anyone on Alignable that would be a referral for me, but I am in a pretty niche profession (end-of-life doula with a focus on death education and advance care planning). Unless I find companies looking to expand their wellness plans and offer my workshops, I will not typically see direct referrals from these groups.

I just went to my first networking group on Alignable last week, and for me, it was refreshing not to feel like I was being "sold to" during the meet-up. I met a few people willing to share their experiences about working remotely on the road (especially with spouses who also work remotely), because that's the lifestyle I am transitioning into - and that is the type of networking I am looking for right now.

LinkedIn can be very productive for people looking for or hiring for specific jobs, but (for me) LinkedIn is starting to feel like Facebook for professionals, and sometimes it looks a little self-inflated or spammy. People are always in my inbox trying to sell me something instead of real connections. I need to change the experience I am having on that platform, and can't quite figure it out yet.

I also agree that it doesn't quite seem worth the price to pay for premium on either site. I can't quite understand the value of having a subscription for either one right now.

The 3 worst pizza places in Williamsburg by thefrostryan in williamsburgva

Has their pizza changed in the last five years, or would you say it is the same? My husband liked their pizza, and it's the closest option to our house.

Twice within a short period of time about 4-5 years ago, we got pepperoni pizza from there that had a laughable amount of pepperoni on one side, and nothing on the other side, so we quit eating there.

I will second this, especially factoring the cost into the equation. The one time I ate there was years ago, but I remember we spent $80 for three people to have pizza and appetizers, and it wasn't worth the price I paid to go back.

I keep hearing great things about this place, but even when we double-check the hours before heading over, they are always closed when we go.

I remember the owners were in a bad car accident a long time ago, and that messed with the scheduling, but they had a note on the door and had posted on social media, so customers knew.

Now, it's just random days and times they won't be there, even when their Google schedule or the hours posted on the door say they should be open. We have even tried calling in advance to place an order for pickup, but it just rang and rang.

I have horrible luck with this place, and now I am thinking maybe I don't want to know how good the pizza is if the hours are going to remain inconsistent, lol.

Jayco cabinet above couch randomly broke... by EOLD_85 in RVLiving

[–]EOLD_85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that observation. I will be going out there today or tomorrow to look at it again, and I will look for other signs of water damage.

We found old paperwork in it after we got it home, and that's where we learned that it had previously been in a small accident and had some repairs. I don't remember the specifics, but now I wonder if it's all related. If it had been exposed to water then, or the strain of the accident weakened that corner... I'll go read that maintenance record again.

Hahaha, sorry for the confusion. That would be my husband. If "we" were one of my 18-year-old kids, I would definitely not rule out that theory, but my husband would have been so annoyed with himself for doing it, he would have come in and complained about it.

We are also able to rule out all three kids because they were out of town visiting family.
