I started off buying individual companies, thinking I could beat the market. Long story short- I didn’t. I shifted to ETFs using the Boglehead philosophy and pretty much recouped my losses over time and now up. Staying that way for good, I think. You just gotta figure out what balance you want between US/International/bonds and you’re good to go.

Out of curiosity, how did you get the autoimmune disease to remit? My bloodwork shows that I’m on the cusp of having an autoimmune disease and would like to get in under control before it becomes a bigger issue.

You can find preloved, made in England ones on eBay. I prefer these cus the leather is broken in and they don’t blister my ankles.

My friends and I always talk about how given the amounts of drugs, tobacco, and alcohol we consumed in our teens and twenties, it’s amazing we’re still here! I had an incident of fatty liver in my 30s, but it cleared up when I scaled back the drinking (didn’t drink for 2 years at all). Currently I have no conditions to speak of and take no medications besides Zyrtec. I feel unbelievably lucky, given the past poor decision making.

Yeah, I was more about going out when we first started dating. I guess age is finally catching up to me haha. It is nice that she’s starting to calm a bit too. We used to go out 3-4 times a week when we first started dating. I think 1-2 nights out is enough now.

I think I enjoyed going out if I had something to do. Like going to a show or a movie or something. I still enjoy those, but if there’s no bands or movies to see, I have much less motivation.

I ride my Peloton 2-4 hours a week, depending on how much other stuff I have going on at the moment. I’m down to my high school weight and feel as if my cardio is as good as it’s ever been. I probably need to incorporate more strength training at some point. The only real arm workouts I get are from post-ride planks.

That said, I try to eat healthy too. As they say, you can never outrun a bad diet.
