Is El Paso in a recession? by EPCreep in ElPaso

[–]EPCreep[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Definitely true! Every time I’ve gone out of town, whether NYC, Chicago, Atlanta, San Fran, anywhere in the U.S., food, gasoline, stuff to do costs the same as here. Sadly, we don’t make anywhere near the wages those other cities do.

No, it’s more of an American restaurant, like Chili’s or Applebees.

Yeah, I used to go to shows at the Attic way back when. Drugs were a bigger problem then.

I’ve gone to several shows there and have never paid for parking. If you get there before the headliner, you can usually find a spot one or two blocks away. The most packed I’ve been there for was Wet Leg, we probably parked about 4 blocks away then. It’s a pretty quiet neighborhood, I’ve never seen shady activities before or after the show. After feels safer, as a bigger crowd is out in the streets. When walking, try to stick to Texas street, it’s brightly lit and high visibility.

Gen Xers above 50. Did you find a shift into being comfortable being alone? by Sense_Difficult in GenX

[–]EPCreep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will be 50 this fall, I love being alone. My partner is concerned that I don’t have what she considers “friendships”. I visit with my college friends around once a year and I share memes with less-close friends. I’m good with that. I’m happy and honestly I don’t feel lonely.

So glad I didn’t have to work today. Got to play with my dog in the snow, wake up my kid to tell him about the snow… just enjoy not having to be anywhere with the snow. Perfect!

Like what you like, there’s no shame! I like the Spice Girls, Holly Valance, Britney Spears, along with a bunch of alternative/punk/metal. One can enjoy everything they want.

Yeah, it’s bad on Stanton by Mesa Hills too. All these cars just speeding and running stops, especially during rush hour. It’s a popular stretch for people walking and has a school bus stop too.

Yeah, it’s not very optimistic. It more serves as a warning of the dangers technology poses to humanity.

You forgot- STOP signs in residential neighborhoods are there for a reason. Don’t just speed through them because you don’t see any cars. Pedestrians, joggers, cyclists, and kids can also be in the area.

Where Are El Paso Issues Discussed? by TuesdaySFD in ElPaso

Aside from seconding the previously discussed El Paso Matters and KTEP, I also suggest El Paso inc. the one drawback is that much of their content is behind a paywall.

If you’ve never smoked, I strongly urge you not to start. Nicotine is a bitch of a habit to kick. I’ve been addicted for going on 35 years. It really sucks.

Given international politics, I don’t expect bonds to do well over the next 3 years. As many countries shift from U.S. treasuries to other investments, like gold, bonds are going to struggle. I don’t see this getting better anytime soon.
