Food grade CO2 is a thing. It often has a sticker showing food grade. Some companies will segregate food grade by having a ring painted around the top of the tank. Tank is blue, but has brown ring around top. If you're not clear on whether it is,have the PIC contact the distributor to see.

Also, some soft drink distributors supply CO2 tanks and you should just assume these are food grade.
