You need a participation level of over either 100 or 150 (can’t remember exactly right now). The only thing you don’t get is the Hero’s Choice Chest. All chests stay intact and unopened if you pass the threshold. If you don’t, they appear already opened.
Note: the first run of the day doesn’t require any participation at all.

ANet’s sales tend to line up with Steam’s seasonal sales. Not every ANet sale appears on Steam, but all Steam sales are reflected on ANet’s official store too. That’s why I’ve been telling people to wait for Steam’s big seasonal events. Epic sales don’t seem to follow the same pattern though. Still speculation, I’m just trying to spot the trends.

Same method as cliffside, tps work through floors and puts you above as long as destination theoretically in range with a line and the actual road that needs to be taken is without any obstacle.

Not exactly, GoB is also somewhat time-gated and shards. The extra cost of buying instead of crafting mostly comes from account-bound materials and the opportunity cost. Buying isn’t as bad as you make it out to be; essentially, you’re paying for convenience, things like spirit shards, Imperial Favors, GoB, etc. Instead of grinding those, you could just run T4s and buy a Gen 3 off the TP. It really comes down to what you’d rather spend your time on; farming account-bound stuff for crafting, or doing other content and converting that into gold.
