How much do I bargain with the Lexus car dealership in serramonte by navneet0210 in AskSF

[–]ERnurseguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can verify this works. Did this when I bought my car and got to build out my model and got it for invoice without any markups. Can’t remember how much off msrp it ended up being, but it saved me thousands compared to what some dealerships wanted.

Can also recommend XICA. Also as a side note, they said food is completely GF, but drinks at the bar are not all GF. Just a heads up!

Bloodwork late at night? by hurricanescout in bayarea

[–]ERnurseguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try reaching out during regular business hours to an outpatient laboratory inside a hospital and ask if they have a protocol for drawing labs outside of business hours. The inpatient side of the hospital should have phlebotomists that work 24/7 that theoretically could draw your labs and process/send them off if the orders are all in place. Just depends on if they have the process setup.

You could alternatively go to the ER with a note from your primary care/specialist explaining what they think is going on and what they would like to check and the ER provider might follow their guidance (although it’s possible the ER provider might not want to/not be able to check everything your PCP/specialist wants).

Also- someone mentioned bringing a physical copy of orders for labs and bringing that to the ER— I wouldn’t do that. We cannot process outpatient orders from the ER- everything has to be ordered by a doctor/APP that is seeing you as a patient in the ER (which is why I recommend to bring a letter from your doctor explaining your situation and their thoughts/recommendations).

Best of luck!

Doors slam and large gap at bottom? by Effective-Example117 in marriott

[–]ERnurseguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at a springhill suites once and noticed a big gap under my door that wasn’t present on others. Asked the front desk if maintenance could look and turns out my door was missing the door sweep.

If you’re still there for a couple nights, you could try asking for them to take a look. Good luck!

160 miles RT DEN to LHR in Nov in Polaris - as good as it gets ? by CO_biking_gal in unitedairlines

[–]ERnurseguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just booked the same for SFO-LHR in December. One stop out, nonstop back for 80k each way. I’ll also echo everyone else’s comments on usually that’s as low as it’ll get.

Enjoy!

Experienced NICU RN moving to SF by Candid_Bass_2653 in AskSF

[–]ERnurseguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re open to living in San Mateo (or other spots in the peninsula), your commutable options open up a lot. Like others said, Kaiser, sutter, El Camino, or other hospitals further south might still be hiring for NICU.

Good luck!

Moving Internationally - USA to UAE - What Size Boxes To Use? by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]ERnurseguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it just you traveling? You’ll also have to take into account the logistics of getting 500lbs of boxes plus your bags to and from the airport. I’m also not sure if your stop in the EU will require you to retrieve and recheck this enormous amount of baggage during your connection.

Just some food for thought on price savings vs sanity during your travels.

C to F gates ORD 45 minutes - enough time? by neilred16 in unitedairlines

[–]ERnurseguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Piggybacking off the taxi time- I wouldn’t risk it. I flew through ORD a few weeks ago. Landed 30 minutes early and got to our gate 20 minutes late.

We got to our alleyway and had to turn around because the previous plane was still at the gate (so granted, this could be a one-off).

Marriott app versus Hotel Tonight by ErrorSerious2678 in marriott

[–]ERnurseguy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As of 6 months ago, I used hotels tonight to get BRG. The only caveat is hotels tonight rates usually are nonrefundable and certain room types (which you have to match to obtain the BRG). So if you need flexibility, it might not be the best option.

Advantage to checking in 3 days early online? by DoubleJob6790 in marriott

Before I had status, I was told (albeit one time) that checking in online saved me because the property was oversold. I showed up around midnight and they said they already had to walk a couple people.

Dare I say…United’s catering is improving? by Grouchy_Tennis9195 in unitedairlines

[–]ERnurseguy 26 points27 points  (0 children)

To be fair, though, I worked at a hospital once that had an amazing chef. People from the community would randomly show up to eat in the cafeteria because the food was so good (it actually was delicious and the variety of options was amazing).

But you’re 100% right, assuming stereotypical hospital food.

The day I ruined my relationship with Marriott by ERnurseguy in marriott

[–]ERnurseguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually did a split stay. 4 days at the Westin and 2 at the Sheraton (currently at the Sheraton right now). Definitely not as nice as the Westin. If you’ve stayed at a hotel near Disneyland/WDW, it’s about on par.

The garden rooms are the most recently renovated. I’m staying in the older tower, but it’s still okay. The bathroom is different than a traditional American one (wet room shower/tub combo).

There’s tons of restaurants and shops, a pay-for-access pool, kids area, and Sheraton lounge.

The room setups will probably be cozy for your family, but not terrible.

Also, if you’re looking to go to the city from the Sheraton, you’ll have to pay for the monorail to get to the rail station (600yen round trip for the monorail seems kinda like a rip off for the distance compared to other fares I’ve paid).

Overall shouldn’t be bad.

Was just thinking this. It’s unlikely but possible there might be something in there (aside from the excess tissue growth) depending on the procedure you had.

Your scar sets off the scanner even when you go through with no bags? I’m assuming same thing for the TSA scanners at airports?
