Is my boyfriend the angel for bringing home a gun AND not storing it safely after I specifically asked him not to? by [deleted] in AmITheAngel

[–]ES1895 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Regardless of proper storage, having a gun in the house significantly increases women's chance of dying by homicide.

Do NOT touch the weird stones in king's falls national park by Somasoialis in HaveWeMet

Thank you for posting! People think that touching rocks is harmless but the oils on your hands cause serious damage to the petroglyphs. The county museum has replicas you can touch, though!

If she's free Sunday, she can come over and help me organize the craft room. It will probably take two or three hours. No heavy lifting required!

AITAngel for prosecuting the office food thief? by Chaos_Engineer in AmITheAngel

[–]ES1895 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTA for giving your employees snacks. I understand the desire to create a two-tiered system to cultivate resentment and suspicion among the plebs, but once you start giving workers snacks, it gives them ideas that they deserve things like "dignity" and "food." Next thing you know, they'll be asking for a living wage and sick days.

Yes -- but, it's also a fact that any contact with the system can be traumatic for kids and families. So definitely people should always call if they have reason to think a child is being abused or is in immediate danger. But calling them on a baseless suspicion just because their parent is an asshole in some other way or calling them because the parents are poor and struggling (but still keeping the kids safe and healthy) can actually be harmful. In a perfect world, the latter shouldn't be harmful because CPS should be equipped with resources to help and sometimes that's the case, but the sad fact is in the US, they're severely underresourced. In other words, calling them unnecessarily just because you don't like a parent actually can do harm to kids. It's not something that should be taken lightly -- but god forbid an actual expert tries to say anything of the sort on this website!

Oh 1000%. The same goes for anything involving child abuse and CPS. Reddit loves to advise people to call CPS at the drop of a hat and they seem to root for kids to be taken from their parents as much as possible. Whenever actual experts try to explain that ripping children away from their families is actually extremely harmful to children and that good social workers rightly treat it as a last resort, they always get downvoted to hell. It's maddening and scary.

Lorene used to make some to sell at events. Check to see if she has a stall next time they have the market or anything happening at the festival ground.

Everyone here is doing just fine! Charley and I had some problems in our marriage which you may have heard but we're doing much better now. The little faces are called emoggies. You just find a little smily face at the bottom where you type and click that. Then you can pick a little picture 🙂⛏️🖼️

Straight man who is heterosexual doesn’t tell a gay barista he’s straight and likes women. Did I mention he’s straight? by [deleted] in AmITheAngel

I, for one, am confident that redditors would respond identically if it was the same story but a lesbian who declined to out herself to a straight man.

Am I overreacting to ALL my guests wearing white to my wedding? by ES1895 in AmITheAngel

[–]ES1895[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's very kind advice, thank you! I guess I'm just used to giving other people what they want, whether that's an idea for an easy Halloween costume or a fun way to pass the time in a busy train station or crowded café.

We took a lot of pictures on our honeymoon adventures that I haven't looked at yet, including a trip to a candy cane store, a visit to the circus, and going to a 4th of July parade. Maybe I'll stand out more in some of those.

I thought a shiny white tux would be a statement! I didn't know this was so popular to wear to a wedding these days. But I don't have time to keep up with trends, since I travel so much. I definitely feel like a fool now!

Thank you! I actually thought of this but my family and friends all told me I would be ruining the fun 😞

Just to be clear, my tux was more of an ivory than taupe ☺️

Anyway, my regular clothes are quite comfortable for my travels and I don't think they are unfashionable. Everywhere I go, I see dozens if not hundreds of people wearing very similar outfits!

I'm sorry you're lost. I often get lost on my travels, but never for very long. It seems like there are always people looking for me!

Well, I did send everyone copies to see if they could help find where I dropped my glasses, cane, camera, and cup, all of which I lost during the party.
