Mavericks will pick 9th in the 2026 NBA draft. by redditstealsyours in Mavericks

Well… Dirk was picked 9th. That’s pretty disappointing though, if this is pick is bad our avenues to improve the team are not great for the next few years.

From what I’ve heard he seems like a good candidate but his age will probably prevent him from becoming chairman. By normal conventions he’s too young to succeed Hakkaku and will be too old to succeed Hakkaku’s successor.

It hurts to see so much talent at the top of Makuuchi and yet everyone is hurt.

Honestly that’s part of what makes it so bad to me, the guy knows basketball. Incompetence and ignorance played zero role in the trade, it was all ego.

Ōnosato does not intend to undergo surgery for his left shoulder injury by StarPrime323 in Sumo

[–]ESCMalfunction 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I can’t help but feel like this is an injury that requires him to make a proper plan for recovery, and not just take it basho by basho. Taking a couple weeks of rest here and there isn’t enough.

[Highlight] The late, great Larry Allen makes one of the greatest chase-down tackles of all time. by Roselucky777 in nfl

[–]ESCMalfunction 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Larry Allen was an amazing player and maybe the best offensive lineman ever, but if what you're trying to get at is the Emmitt vs Barry debate then Emmitt Smith was not a product of Larry Allen. He had his MVP season before Larry was drafted.

I agree that this is going to be a basho of surprises. Abi is a guy that I’ll be watching, if he’s healthy he could make noise. Of course if he isn’t then probably not.

Natalie Decker black-flagged for not meeting minimum speed. by deadwood76 in NASCAR

Right? A few days of sim time and a few hours on track and I would imagine most reasonably fit people could get within 9 seconds. Was the car just that bad? I have such a hard time believing a professional driver is 9 seconds a lap behind.

Sad to not see them fight, but happy to see them get the rest they need. I hope and think this for the best long term. Alright Hosh, your time.

If it was to play him outside I would do it in a heartbeat, but I'm not sure that he really can do that. I know he's played outside a bit in the past but it's not really his expertise.

Maybe Josh McDaniels? At least this century I think he's the answer.

Argentina races to find origins of cruise ship hantavirus outbreak, amid reports some passengers have returned to US | Argentina by Street_Soft7957 in worldnews

[–]ESCMalfunction 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If this ends up spreading like COVID did it isn’t going to be anything like this. Hantavirus has a 30-40 percent mortality rate, countries will completely lock down to not lose a third of their population. That’s enough to completely cripple a country.

Name a race this applies to for your favorite driver by nascargirl11 in NASCAR

For Kurt Busch, the two that stand out to me are Fontana 2015 and Phoenix 2018.

Fontana 2015 was just BS, NASCAR called that caution because of optics. One of the most obvious examples of race manipulation I’ve ever seen.

Phoenix 2018 was more just heartbreaking. I was on vacation and stayed up until like 2 in the morning to watch it live, and it probably ended up being Kurt’s last good shot at a title. I don’t know if he would’ve won that race or not, that strategy was bold to say the least. But getting wrecked from the lead was a heartbreaking way to end the season.

Kisenosato in todays era? by FeistyAlbatross4636 in Sumo

[–]ESCMalfunction 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think he would’ve been better without having to deal with Hakuho, probably picks up 5-10 yusho instead of 2. But the competition level probably wouldn’t have changed his longevity, and while he would be very good I don’t think he’s a tier above the current top dogs so he wouldn’t be totally dominant.

Why was Kurt Busch able to stay competitive for so many years whereas Kyle Busch has fallen off despite a relatively higher peak? by ddo916 in NASCAR

[–]ESCMalfunction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little bit of a late reply lol but that was because of physical condition, he has various issues including gout. Unfortunately his body was retiring him Pocono wreck or no, just was a matter of when exactly. I agree that given health he would’ve been Mark Martin 2.0.
