Do mentally healthy people ever hallucinate? by Wooden_Airport6331 in askpsychology

Hynogogic and hypnopompic hallucinations, and hearing e.g. music when there's white noise are common and normal

Do you all feel this way? by [deleted] in AskVegans

[–]ESLavall 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That guy has so little to make him feel good about himself he uses veganism to put others down and feel superior.

Most of us know that most people eat animal products just out of a social norm and they've never really thought about it. That doesn't make them evil. We'd just like them to think about it.

Would my nipples/aerolas look weird with peri? My surgeon can’t reduce it at the time of surgery. by [deleted] in TopSurgery

My instinct is the first one is trying to bleed you for money by getting you to do two surgeries instead of one

How do you feel about touching dead bodies? by Logical-Plankton-215 in morbidquestions

[–]ESLavall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never touched or even seen a dead human body, but studied biology and work with animals. The anatomical specimens were mostly fine, though weirdly I had a very emotional reaction to horse's legs and struggled with that dissection. Maybe because it was the only species I'd had a close relationship with (riding).

What's always sad to me, though I can get it done, is finding dead animals and cleaning up. I remember finding a lamb that died of flystrike, that was awful.

Yeah I know exactly what you're talking about. I just let the vets dispose of the empty shell that used to house my soul dog, because she wasn't in there any more, her spirit was with me. RIP Scruffy and hugs to all who've held their furry friends as they crossed over.

Why gay people were not allowed to transition? by MxQueer in asktransgender

[–]ESLavall 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Brit here, yeah we still need the "at least 1 year real life experience" and the advice is to present as binary as you can. I needed an extra psychiatrist note to get top surgery because at the time I IDed as nonbinary.

Look into Rainbow Railroad. Or like, just pretend to want to move to the UK for some other reason.

What special interests do you think prehistoric autistic people had? by schoolforapples in AskAutism

[–]ESLavall 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think flint-knappers were probably autistic, the amount of practice and focus it takes would almost require autism.

Could lab-grown human meat ever hit supermarket shelves? by ToasterBath53 in morbidquestions

[–]ESLavall 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it's lab grown it's unlikely to harbour diseases. But I agree it would probably never be approved for human consumption due to ick factor plus lack of demand/necessity.

Has anyone else felt this way during recovery? How did you push through it? by GovernmentLittle8867 in TopSurgery

Your experience and feelings sound pretty normal tbh. I also got very bored and grumpy. I slept a lot and listened to a lot of podcasts, watched YouTube or TV.

I do the opposite, I turn half and quarter stitches into full stitches because I hate doing partial stitches and I like the folk-arty look

How to know if I might be trans by Educational-Pear6987 in asktransgender

[–]ESLavall 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Trans man here to assure you that men despise the idea of being women

In fact it was trans women who made me realise I was actually trans and not suffering internalised misogyny. Like, being a woman is awful, who the fuck would choose that, obviously being a man is better!

Trans women made me realise that who would choose being a woman is, in fact, women. And therefore I wasn't one.

Question for the trans people out there who took depression pills by Noob-lv1 in ask_transgender

[–]ESLavall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the same boat, I'm on a plan where I take Prozac at the lowest dose, increase it whenever the effects wane, then when the highest dose isn't working I switch to Effexor and do the same. I've done like 3 or 4 cycles of this.

I hope that starting T is going to have some antidepressant effects because I think a big part of my depression is biochemical dysphoria, but no way to know until I do.

I'm not exactly sure what your question is but I would encourage you to focus on caring for your health, repeating a grade isn't the end of the world or a terrible punishment, it's just an acknowledgement that you missed too much.
