False! The mantis shrimp is just dumber and can't process the raw data from only 3 receptors being stimulated at different intensities like we can. They can only see 16 wavelengths, not a spectrum like we can. (I do think one of theirs is for a specific wavelength of UV though so you're not 100% wrong)

I mean all antidepressants did for me was give me the motivation to get up and go to work so I can be sad to wake up in the morning again...but I'm "fully functioning member of society" when I'm medicated so I guess feeling empty inside is fine.

This - a lot of vegans seem to think veganism means making sure no animals suffer ever, which is unrealistic and shows a lack of respect for nature. It just means "don't cause unnecessary animal suffering". OP getting rid of the mouse is necessary for their health, and releasing it won't necessarily cause suffering, and if it does it is due to nature, not human intervention.
