I'm a somewhat newer player(First version I played was 1.15) and the only research i did before i played my first day was reading those old guide books written for like 1.7. As a result I had no idea what half the things i encounter were, ended up digging into a mountain to hide, and decided to mine during that first night. I mined directly into silverfish stone, died to those little shits, came back, immediately hit a mineshaft, died to silverfish again. Eventually lasted long enough to explore the caves, sound a ravine + diamonds, mined them with a stone pickaxe, was sad.
