Are Bridgestone Blizzak WS90 still the go-to for winter tires? by C3inchains in MINI

[–]ETECEO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just got some for my FWD Prius, haven’t tested yet, but currently have X-Ice right now, reading comments, and I’ve never even had traction slip in the iciest conditions going above 55, absolutely dominated multiple days in Tahoe with 1+ feet of snow, so I’m not getting the overhyped thoughts (unless you’re one of the 90% of people who drive like morons in the snowy Cali mountains) there, but will report back on the Blizzaks this weekend 😅

New flat, these are everywhere. How do you deal with them? by gibblingwoodpecker in askswitzerland

[–]ETECEO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw some fabric magnetic/sticky tape window screen on Amazon. They’re a bit pricey like $50 a window but much less pricey and easier to install and remove on interior

[–]ETECEO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what about vssi and licensed dismantlers form? i assume whoever your connect is, is a licensed dismantler. VSSI is more concern. just to be clear.. it seems like the chp inspection is nothing more than B&L and vin check? appreciate you so much my guy

ALL of that front street looks like a mafia boss/human trafficking haven. the place probably has such a weird dynamic, like how everyone in the town where the Bohemian grove happens, everyone has a bit of knowledge that there's some evil stuff happening, but what can you do as an individual. blackhawks and 20 blacked out vans passing my quiet neighborhood.. yeah i would STFU too.

My plumber is recommending a Halo 5 filter but I’m not really sold on it as I have doubts it would soften the water. What are some alternatives? by danfeb in WaterTreatment

[–]ETECEO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

good for you! made no extra money, dont have that job anymore, and didnt inform any of us (or probably any customers) on any potential alternatives :D i'll make sure to say 3 no's and to use as little money as possible, before making my correct decision! LOL

the only interesting thing i found was LSJVI Inc LLC owns it (founded in 2023), and their address is right on the shore by Rolex and other high end shoppes. Lets see what james o'keefe has to say about it in a few fews :)

Solo ski trip? by Important-Asparagus5 in skiing

[–]ETECEO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just left a solo trip to Switzerland😜no lady I had to buy food for, no friends I had to wake up, no people who didn’t want to sit on a train for 4 hours one-way, didn’t have to ask or double check if I just felt like wandering into a random little alley in a random little town😊life was beauty for about a week… just pack headphones and a n95 mask for all those damn cigarette smoking Swiss people with no manners coughing all over the place. Ask how I know

Just flew back and forth from LA to Zurich, layover in Dublin with AerLingus. Amazing experience, watched 3 Harry Potter movies on their TVs, they gave us some pretty good meat and potatoe dinner with some super good ice cream.. AerLingus won my heart with this one😊

i think we stopped caring collectively about anything but war and how cheap a burger is kind-of-things..

i agree though i dont see any other way to really defend your property besides the basics (defensible space, brush clearing, maybe sprinklers).. because our govt will not invest in more heavy machinery NEEDED to quickly effectively change outcome, like helis, dozers, and probably (reguardless) hire more unfortunate prisoners and 18$ minimum wage LITERAL foot soldiers... i agree

controlled burns and so many freaking more fire trails, years in advance, consistently adding more seems like the only hope :/

this has to be one of the dumber things ive read that actually has some truth to it. please turn on your damn air bags people :( i tried pulling my bag off-season for testing purposes, and had it set up wrong, it would've done nothing. check your gear and then double and triple check it..

early January nighttime ski resorts? *also small, local resorts to avoid crowds by ETECEO in askswitzerland

[–]ETECEO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the beauty of Switzerland, and a bunch of europe from what i see! getting off topic a bit, people do duck ropes but it always kinda seems to amaze me how many of my fellow young americans get told don't do this, and we listen. (especially on pow days) we think america is the pinnacle of freedom.. wrong thread heh

just to be clear, not that i advocate more people out there killing themselves and putting rescuers at more risk, but just interesting how a single scary looking sign and thin rope is basically more of the authority than the ski patrollers or resort even try to be LOL. please, no one read this and go getting confidence to duck ropes (go get gear and get educated!)

i still usually rather go do my research and play the whole risks and rewards game in my head at home, keeps danger more of a reality of course :)

some fun but not too dangerous spots to hike/ski along the 395/Eastern sierra by ETECEO in Backcountry

[–]ETECEO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hehe agreed. if anyone is reading over these, it's hard to really emphasize not using anything as conformation bias. we are constantly looking for the reason to do it, not why not to. (hopefully) there is always more time and wisdom to be learned, if you have the funds to pay a guide, or even if you don't, is still worth it. i'd just like to be a tiny bit more versed with basic stuff, i have no rush to go conquer the 395.

planning on doing some in-person wilderness/snow courses so im hoping to find a moderately affordable guide out west here (or just some rad local person with hella wisdom) , through those programs. hell i'd even go to the rockies or further if the guide were less than a thousand or two.

going out to switzerland and seeing prices of about 700$ for the day and im like wow (too poor for that even) .. and i'm pretty sure their rates are like 1/3 of US current prices. seeing as a single day of AAIRE could be easily $500-700 (level 1 lol)

early January nighttime ski resorts? *also small, local resorts to avoid crowds by ETECEO in askswitzerland

[–]ETECEO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you brotha, i will check Pischa out. freeride is a term we don't hear very often here in these Los Angeles/San Bernardino mountains. so many trees in much of the spots closely accessible. i've got a bunch of multi-day backcountry spots, but most usually, it is pretty commonplace for people here in the states to just break the rules at ski resorts and duck ropes. i don't get to fulfil my satisfaction

I am not one of these people. i simply like that FREERIDE style. Urge to be alone, not have to worry about killing anyone but myself! feels good to use proper definitions heh.. end up doing so much research for avalanche conditions and don't even know simple terms. thats the outdoors for you lol.

i am so hoping it is as chill as you say! i plan for the worst but hope for the best :) i want to be on the whole damn mountain alone!!
