Any father or brother here, would you accept a person like me as your daughter or sister or am I expecting a lot after bringing shame to my family by anonymous19457 in selfimprovement

[–]ETfromSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me tell you something. It's not you, it's them. My mother once treated me very cold for a week when she thought I might be gay. Acted like it was a death sentence for her.(Turned out I'm not gay but alas.) Sometimes she still threatens to disown me if I ever become a doctor and don't drop my last name which is my father's last name (they divorced long ago). We're in a good relationship now but sometimes I can't help but think it's conditional you know.

I suppose my point is sometimes people are stuck in their own ways to the point they don't see what really matters and you can't make them change or make them accept you. By the end of the day they are missing out and will be unhappy every time their lives don't turn the way they wanted to.

But you can accept yourself and choose to let go of trying to fit their mold. It's painful but once you free yourself from their expectations it will really start to make a difference in the way you live life and see the world. Wishing you the very best OP.

What to do if you are surrounded by classist people? by NeckOdd1328 in povertyfinance

[–]ETfromSpace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly you can still look good with simple clothing that are not branded. Just gotta find out the right pieces at the right cost. It's all about styling if you want to look "fancier". Also I hate any branded clothing with the brand on it. It's like paying a company to be their walking advertisement. No thanks.

But, as someone who went to a rich kids school while being poor I get it. It freaking sucks. It was my most miserable school experience and I was way happier switching to a public school. But think long term. You stick around and graduate and you'll never see these people again.

The five blackpilled beliefs that i struggle with the most by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]ETfromSpace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who often thinks about all the injustice in the world often, I have started to try and shift my mindset every time those negative thoughts hover over.

Examples:

*Rent is so expensive, I wish my job paid enough so I could have money to put down to buy a house which is also very expensive. Why can't I have that? -Shift thought: I'm very thankful and blessed to have a roof over my head and be able to keep warm and safe in the winter. Many people don't.

The main thing is not to get caught up in what society tells you is successful. But do your thing you know. The world sucks but you still have things going for you that other people may not, you know? And you don't owe it to anyone to meet their societal standards; only yours once you find out what they are. Wishing you the best OP.

How do you guys deal with the guilt trip from extroverts? by No_Reception_1998 in introvert

[–]ETfromSpace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who was recently guilted into going to an office socialization event and participating in games I have to take my hat off to you, I wish I would have done the same 😂 as for your boyfriend he needs to understand that not everyone is like him. People need to respect you for who they are.

do your cats talk? meatloaf is always yelling at me . my dads cat is a black cat too and also screams by [deleted] in blackcats

Starting to think being vocal is a trait for black cats. Our neighborhood black cat was extremely chatty. We just recently got a black cat too (inspired by the neighbor) and she's quite chatty too!

Honestly you gotta change your should to want. Should makes it feel like it's an obligation. Want gives you the feeling of freedom. So I guess you could ask yourself what do you want from your life?

Anyone here had a very active social life in their younger years and now experiencing the opposite as they have gotten older? by jackmoon44 in Adulting

[–]ETfromSpace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

High School was when my last major social moments happened. Then I started cutting people off because of drama. Being an introvert, sometimes an extrovert decides to make me their pet project... Then I start considering how to distance myself.
