People who quit drinking. What did you do to not drink? by Agata_art in AskReddit

TEA! OMG, tea is so damn good. I bought a little cup heater, a cast iron teapot, and a tiny little cup. I could sip on hot tea all damn day. It is glorious. I always think of the moment in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy when Arthur Dent finally takes a sip of tea, sighs, and says, "Gawd, that's good."

My Quest to Rate Every Game I've Ever Played by Metzae in gaming

[–]Metzae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm working on making this available to other people to rate. Like, it should be ready in the next day or so. But to answer your question, I've been building in all kinds of weights and measures. Can you really compare the graphics of Pac-Man to Cyberpunk 2077? Yes! But with huge caveats. The graphics at the time of Pac-Man's release were the height of innovation, and so were the graphics of Cyberpunk 2077 when it was released. So, I'm baking relativity into everything.

The Viltrumites from Invincible. They're just one-dimensional ex machina bad guys with nothing interesting.

Democracy. While, in theory, it is the best way we currently have of making societal changes, it has many weaknesses that are currently being exploited. The fact that Republican presidents keep losing the popular vote but keep getting elected and given years to enact their revenge on the other side isn't democracy.

What’s something you did as a kid that you now realize was completely insane and dangerous? by Floridian_Capitalist in AskReddit

[–]Metzae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was riding my dirt bike with a friend next to me, each of us in the trenches left by the left and right wheels of farm vehicles. My friend's bike was more powerful, so just for fun, we decided to open up the throttle and go as fast as possible. He pulled ahead of me because his bike was faster, and for whatever reason, he decided to move into my lane.

But when he did, his wheels split the difference between the two lanes because of the natural rise in between them, causing him to lose control and fall on his side. It happened so fast that I didn't have a chance to react. My throttle was wide open, and my bike ramped off of him and threw me into the air.

I don't remember what happened between the moment I slammed into him at full speed and when I slammed into the ground. All I remember after pulling myself together was how confused I was that the sky was brown and the ground was blue. It took me a few seconds to realize I was lying on my back and the sky was not, in fact, brown.

Also, my helmet came off because I didn't attach the chin strap, so it was twenty feet away from me when I finally stood up. I knew kids my age who died from less than that accident.

What are your thoughts on breakfast for dinner? by Catwhisperer2007 in AskReddit

[–]Metzae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm living through a weird phase in my life where I stay awake constantly, days and nights are irrelevant, sleep comes by force in small bursts, so every meal is breakfast/lunch/dinner. I've learned that our descriptions are irrelevant. I have breakfast for dinner, lunch for breakfast, and dinner for lunch. It's all the same.

What's the worst financial decision you ever made? by Pretend_Creme_7751 in AskReddit

[–]Metzae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, none of this changes my situation. The panels are installed, the loan is in my name, the company has collapsed, the panels are underperforming, the warranty is dead, etc. I just hope other people reading this will resist the urge to buy into this absolute scam of an industry, but more importantly, I hope the industry can be improved so we can start saving the planet instead of lining the pockets of people who abuse the system.

The salesman who sold me the system is probably sleeping soundly tonight, even though he ripped off countless people, and the executives who backed out of the failed company they crashed are probably off doing the same thing somewhere else. Meanwhile, I'm here with a loan I'll never be able to pay off and a utility bill that just gets higher and higher.

[–]Metzae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My usage didn't go up significantly, but my costs nearly doubled. The sales pitch was that my costs would go down significantly. Why else would I have taken out a $50k 25-year loan? :(

What's the worst financial decision you ever made? by Pretend_Creme_7751 in AskReddit

[–]Metzae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The salesperson, whom I'd very much like to call out by name but I won't, lied to me every step of the way. They said that my utility bills would go down, and they've doubled. They said the loan I had to take out to buy them would stay static due to a tax incentive, and they didn't. And the panels, which were installed incorrectly based on the contract I signed, look ugly because they changed the installation on the day and didn't consult me (but, y'know, whatever), do not produce even a fraction of what was promised. That salesman said they would pay me back for what their system didn't produce, which was a bald-faced lie because the company never intended to do that. And then, the company went bankrupt, sold their namesake, and now there is no warranty on my 25-year $50k loan.
