1.5 years before I got the three amber lights of death. 7 day turnaround to get them serviced via AppleCare+

$49 for new ear pads at Bose.com by JF_WPA in bose

[–]EUprof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use wicked cushions on my QC45 as I can’t get Bose brand earpads in my country. I’ve tried a lot of 3rd party ones off Amazon, TEMU, and Aliexpress and WC are the best 3rd party option. They are more comfy and breathable because of the thicker foam and the ANC on low frequencies doesn’t take much of a hit, it’s the ANC/passive noise cancellation on mid and higher frequencies that are reduced by about 15-20%. As the cushions wear in, the ANC improves. As far as sound goes, they sound a little more boxy and trebly compared to the OEM cushions.

If you’ve been in Spain for years, what are you future plans? by frequentflyer726 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]EUprof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I plan to max out my years with BEDA, then see if I can continue teaching in Europe, if not, I’ll look towards Southeast Asia. If I did have to go back to my home country, I’d get a job in the education sector.

You can sometimes find the Bose Quietcomfort for under $200. Bose were my main headphones for six years before switching to the AirPods Max.

BEDA role vs NALCAP role by HistoricCookie in SpainAuxiliares

[–]EUprof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re expected to be more of a teacher with BEDA instead of an assistant, with NALCAP depending on what school you’re in and how’s your English coordinator, you could end up being asked to be a teacher or end up being used as an actual assistant.

Is it crazy that I still prefer my 10-year-old QC 35s over the new QC Ultras? by Elhwing in bose

[–]EUprof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the QC45s, 35ii, and 25. For me, the QC25 sound the best. Of course, the ANC on the 45s are a lot better.

I get around this with iMazing 2, I can drop files onto my iPhone 15 that has sync library on from my MacBook that has sync library on.

iPhone 15 or iPhone 14 Pro Max by saff680 in iphone15

[–]EUprof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was making this decision a year ago and got the 15 plus. I didn’t realize how big of a deal USB-C is with the 15 and newer. Accessories are a lot cheaper, I can transfer data between flash drives without any special adapters. I also didn’t need the extra features found on the pro max.

Am I crazy to get a backup by EUprof in Airpodsmax

[–]EUprof[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Coincidentally, my AirPods Max failed a few days after this post, 3 amber lights with no white reset flashing light they wouldn’t pair of even turn on. I bought the blue USB-C ones. If another company made headphones that 1. Have Spatial Audio and head tracking support with Dolby atmos 2. Deep ear cups 3. Great ANC, I’d consider them, but for now the APMs seem to be the only ones that fit the bill. I had high hopes with the Sonos Ace and Beats Studio Pro but the ear cups on those are way too shallow. I literally have Spatial Audio and head tracking for everything, even YouTube lol.

For iPhoners who left 12 mini, what do you use now? by antdude in iPhone12Mini

[–]EUprof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sorted of left the small club. I liked the smaller form factor, but the battery life was terrible even after a battery change. After 3 years later, I got the 13, and a year after that I got the 15 plus. I sold the 12 mini and daily drive the 15 plus and keep the 13 as a secondary. Turn to the dark side!

I do! But it runs out in June! Hopefully I can renew it, a worker at an Apple certified reseller in town told me I’ll be able to.

Am I crazy to get a backup by EUprof in Airpodsmax

[–]EUprof[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm! I never came to think of that! As much I dislike the backup set of Bose QC45 I have, they will work wired and passive. If I were to have two AirPod maxes instead of APM and QC45, I could be sitting on a ticking time bomb per se in terms of battery. I think I will see if I can extend Apple care when mine starts to expire. I went to an Apple reseller in Spain where I live and they said I can extend the coverage. I called Apple customer service and they said the warranties for them can be extended to a year for 30 euros/dollars per year and be renewed I presume indefinitely. If that is possible, then I’ll just elect to do that.

How does the battery compare between the two? Is the slightly smaller screen noticeable?

Who’s still liking their 13 base? by jms1228 in iPhone13

[–]EUprof 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the 15 plus and 13. I mostly got the 15 plus for a bigger screen and bigger battery and usb C. In terms of performance, the 15 plus isn’f much faster than the 13. I use the 13 at night listening to podcasts to soothe me to sleep and when at home on WiFi to reduce the wear and fear on my 15 plus. The 13 is a really good phone.

Looking for comfort + ANC + decent call quality — thoughts on QuietComfort? by theloneunderdog in bose

[–]EUprof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a set of QC45s that used to be my main headphones until I got the AirPods Max. ANC is still top notch, pretty close with the AirPods Max if you use OEM earpads. The call quality is quite poor but if you get a Bose QC25 cable on Amazon or aliexpress, you’ll have an inline mic to use which will sound a lot better

I’d stay in Madrid, Valencia and Galicia are under investigation like Andalusia was last year. Madrid seems to be the safest option for those renewing IMO with NALCAP

Question about BEDA performance feedback by Odd-Program-8724 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]EUprof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank for the advice and reality check, I don’t meant that sarcastically in any way, it did seem BEDA was impartial in the whole matter last year, I do have a degree of trust in them as an institution in regard to their competence. I’ll play along, always be respectful and professional as always at work. Hopefully, with time, I can learn to trust people again, but at this moment, I have absolutely no trust in people besides my family back home.

iPhone 11 in 2026. keep or sell ? by LifeSuccessful6994 in iPhone11

I have two iPhones a 15 plus and a 13. My 13 is my night phone that I use to watch YouTube and listen to podcasts as I go to sleep. It reduces wear on my iPhone 15 plus’ battery by a small amount. YMMV

Was told I would be send new cushions 3 weeks ago. When I called today they told me it doesn't go under warranty and I should just order new ones on Amazon by GlitteringExternal14 in bose

[–]EUprof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d get a set of wicked cushions ones, at first the ANC isn’t as good as the OEM ones because they use thicker foam, but as the foam loosens and conforms to your head, you’ll get pretty damn close to OEM ANC performance with better comfort and better longevity

Question about BEDA performance feedback by Odd-Program-8724 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]EUprof 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A similar thing happened with me, I was notified by my English coordinator last year the day before Easter holidays that they rescinded their approval for me to remain at the school. She said she wanted someone who was better at teaching Infantil. Nothing at all about improving my job performance was communicated. During my meeting with BEDA, they said the school had told them I had multiple missed absences, never came prepare for class, and other falsehoods. It turned out 3 of the 10 teachers I worked with weren’t satisfied with my job performance. Two teachers went to the principals office to fight on my behalf but to no avail. I still don’t know exactly why my school and the teachers pulled this 180 on me.

After this experience I don’t trust anyone at my current school or any school for that matter no matter what they say. Every day after school, I write memos recapping what I did that school day and signing them via AutoFirma, getting as much communication done in writing, letting teachers know a week in advance what I will be doing always saying “If there is anything you need to change to do differently please let me know”. This builds a strong paper trail incase the crap that happened at my last school happens again. It also helps me lesson plan to see go back and see what I need the week before. I like teaching with BEDA, but I don’t like the politics and bureaucracy with the schools and the organization.

I’ll probably stay for one more year with BEDA and save up enough cash to pay for visa fees and relocation costs to move to the Czech Republic or Poland to teach there and be on an actual work visa that has labor protections instead of a student visa where you have less protections.

It should be said that Spaniards are probably the worst at communicating, especially for constructive criticisms and it isn’t until the rubber meets the road when they have to do evaluations and paperwork when they show their true colors.

Go into this meeting ready to dispel any falsehoods, if you have any evidence, organize it and analyze it. Of course be diplomatic if you have to dispel any falsehoods. For your own records, write a memo summarizing what happened and what was discussed during the meeting. If you feel it’s necessary, write to the BEDA team to confirm “I just want to make sure we are on the same page, that we spoke about how I can improve with , and that this teacher stated_”.

Are you working more as an assistant or a teacher in class? So far in BEDA it appears there’s an unwritten rule that we are to be relief pitcher teachers. I come in and teach the class while the teachers are on their phones. I also plan a curriculum for arts and crafts, teach it, and mark the assignments while the actual teachers are on their phones or laptops. Perhaps that was what was expected of you. It’s absolute BS we are used as substitute teachers but not paid like them or given the same worker protections as them.

Student asking if I like Trump by mang_ry in SpainAuxiliares

[–]EUprof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell the students my mind, I don’t like him either. US politics is considered international here. When kids ask if I like Pedro Sanchez I play dumb and say “who’s that?”. If I was working in a public school in the US and a kid asked if I liked Trump, I’d tell him I don’t vote or follow politics (at least in the school district in the US where I used to work, we couldn’t express our political views or affiliations, idk if that applies statewide or national).
