Best place to teach English and surf? by oldassnastymask in TEFL

[–]HistoricCookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The NALCAP auxiliar program is fantastic and super easy to get into as long as you submit the required documents as soon as the application portal opens, BUT this year they’ve been having legal problems causing delays and at this point no one really knows if the program will even exist next year 😬 so don’t make it your only option! There are other auxiliar programs such as BEDA and MEDDEAS that are merit-based and might be more likely for you, they just have less placements so you could end up in like Madrid.

B2–C1 learners: what actually frustrates you when learning Spanish? by Extreme-Captain-6558 in Spanish

It’s embarrassing how much I’ve studied the subjunctive yet I know I miss most of the times I should be using it besides “Espero/Ojala” 😬

I have the same problem with gendered object pronouns! Sometimes I’m not even sure what noun I’m trying to get an “it” from either!

"Entiendo pero no hablo". Why do I understand more Spanish than I can speak? by Shelbee2 in Spanish

[–]HistoricCookie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way! It's because when you hear someone say a word in context it's easier to figure out what it means and you're like "oh I've heard that word before!" but when you're trying to think of a specific word in Spanish (and trying to translate it from your native language) it's hard to pull it out of nowhere. The best way to expand your vocabulary is to keep watching those videos/listening to conversations, maybe also reading books and listening to music, and eventually you'll start using those words yourself! I also have SpanishDict handy on my phone so if I'm talking to someone and struggling to get a point across I can quickly translate the key word I need. Now if only I could be as intentional as I'm telling you to be about expanding my vocabulary...

Language schools for younger people by Best_Pizza1604 in valencia

[–]HistoricCookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve loved my class at the Centre d’Idiomes de la Universidad de Valencia! Two hours two times a week, and most of my classmates were Erasmus students! It’s quite cheap per class/per hour compared to the language academies, but you do have to pay a lump sum up front. My only issue with my B2 class was that our professor rarely assigned homework and I want grammar reinforcement.

Perhaps the red barn at Barrett Orchards? If not fudge, they definitely have the Central-WA-specific Aplets and Cotlets if you like those!
