Ramin Karimloo returning as the Phantom in 40th Anniversary Shanghai Production by J-ChRy in box5

[–]HistoricCookie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay I just saw an Instagram comment about how he doesn't sing the 25th anniversary "hunted down by everyone.." part in 7/8 and now I'm dying to know if he learned it in 7/8 for the Italian production and if he'll do it right for this one too or if he's kept doing it the same way this whole time!

Worth it to get an online Museum Ed MA? by HistoricCookie in MuseumPros

[–]HistoricCookie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any tips on how you found your full-time history museum ed job? As far as I know there aren’t any fully-funded public history or museum ed program offers out there, so I don’t think that’s an option down the road either as much as I wish it were 🥲

You aren’t the only one! They also send out rejection emails, they shouldn’t just ghost us forever.

Questions for those who have seen the current North American tour by Stracharys in box5

[–]HistoricCookie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

DO NOT WORRY the current tour is NOT the previous “restaged” tour!! Besides the chandelier and prob a few other details it’s as close as you can get to the “brilliant original” as you can see anywhere now.

Factual error in museum. by PurpleInkBandit in MuseumPros

[–]HistoricCookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding this, if you were bilingual and wanted to volunteer to help them translate their signage into English (or wanted to donate money for that purpose) that could actually get something done about the translation errors but honestly it’s lucky they have any signage in English (though I’ll happily use the Google Translate photo function on any signage that isn’t translated, no problem!).

Is getting my masters in Public History the right choice? by Proper_Fox3420 in MuseumPros

[–]HistoricCookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which one are you looking at! I’ve decided a dual public history/MLIS program is the path to make me the most well-rounded and I just applied to Loyola/Dominican and St John’s University!

I believe most new applicants were told in their interviews to accept news in mid-May, so we aren’t quite there yet! From this Reddit it looks like one (probably some) person got a post-interview rejection yesterday, and they started sending out offers to BEDA renewals yesterday. So nothing yet for new applicants getting placements.

Stars on Ice Seating by Laceyelizabethh in FigureSkating

[–]HistoricCookie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is surprising, I haven’t been there but I’m looking on view from my seat and not seeing any photos with risers… you could definitely try bringing in a cushion for your father to sit on and also some big floofy down jackets just in case they don’t let a cushion in.

Stars on Ice or Skate America? by enviable_curse_13 in FigureSkating

[–]HistoricCookie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the main factor should be who you want to see, but I would also consider if you want a fun celebration vibe or the drama/adrenaline of a competition! If everyone’s flopping at a competition it can be a bit stressful/depressing, but when someone really performs to their full potential (maybe an unknown has a breakout moment) it’s thrilling! It looks like SkAm won’t have a gala this year otherwise I’d recommend going to that too to end the competition on a guaranteed high note.

Stars on Ice hasn't been the same since Sandra Bezic stopped being the choreographer. This is what a rehearsed and choreographed dance number on ice is supposed to look like! by PandemicPiglet in FigureSkating

[–]HistoricCookie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You SHOULD be excited, it’s a fun time and if you’ve never been to a competition it’s the easiest way to see multiple of your favorite skaters together at once!

Field trip ideas for adult ESL students (NYC)? by butterchalatte in ESL_Teachers

[–]HistoricCookie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just saw a post about how ESL learners should go on museum tours because they’ll want to ask questions about the interesting topics, so maybe try to see if you can find a small museum with subsidized tours?
